  5. Perhaps ' Groovin' with Mr. BLOW' should have come out on this label ?!?
  6. Found one of these in a local record shop last year. One of a number of slightly surprising artists to appear on the Motown stable of labels, such as Jose Feliciano, Bruce Willis, Robert John, Joe Frazier, Lynda Carter, Meat Loaf, etc.

My Rhonda Davis on Duke came from an early 80's soul pack.

  10. No real point in labelling some sounds as Crossover these days, many different and slower tracks from various decades of sounds played alongside more traditional faster things. Surely if its good, soul and danceable, it dosen't really need a sub-category !?

  12. Anyone interested in a 70's Soul Stop issue of ' Nine times out of ten ' sprayed florescent green and purple, i'll take £150 for it.
  13. Anyone watching the Eddie Foster on IN records (pressed on multi-coloured vinyl) ending tonight - already £250, why ?? It's still a PRESSING, a non-legal 45, may look very pretty and desirable, but why is it going to go for such a ridiculous amount, another case of the Johnny come lately collectors with more cash than sense ?!?
  14. Revelation different record altogether !
  15. GOT ONE, NICE ORANGE ISSUE, DUKE 436, wasn't particularly thinking of selling it, but probably would if you offered a decent price ? let me know.
  16. Can you send the list to jporter1960@talktalk.net - thanks.
  17. Sounds like being thrown off a very high building would be too good for Mr. Soul institution !
  18. Is this Soul Sam you are on about, Atlantic Starr fantastic sound, the other 2 cover versions of 60's classics, obviously had to have some spins as new versions. Always been a mix of great Soul sounds and questionable dirge, Wigan, Peterboro', Stafford, etc.
  19. Yes, 'James' was a well known character at EASC niters, complete and utter lunatic, used to sell Mini bargain surprise Soul packs of several 45's all wrapped up prior to sale, and when you opened them up, mostly knackered, cracked, and crap pop music !! Also used to get on his hands and knees on the floor when a favourite sound of his came on, and mentally beat his fists on the dancefloor to the beat !?!

I like the Banana Splits theme song
  21. Not too sure that Martha Starr or E. Laskey have ever been booted ??
  22. Interesting that Mike Post Coalition was dearer then than a number of much better and rarer items , like Martha Starr, and Emanuel Lasky, and isn't that Soul Partners 45 several hundred pounds ?!?
  23. Surely Keanya Collins shouldn't be on that list ?!? Always liked this, class 70's sound.
  24. Do we really need to put a label on all and everything, surely everybody on the scene likes Soul Music, and some want to dance, others not so much. I personally enjoy a lot of most forms of Black music i hear, and if i want to dance i will, or if not, i'll go to the bar again. Enjoy what you like !!
  25. Loads of great Motown sounds from the late 70's and the 80's, on US and UK labels, here's a few I like - Major lance - ' I never thought I'd be losing you ' // Temptations - I'm comin' home ' / Temps - ' Aiming at your heart' // Willie Hutch - ' In and out ' // Bobby King - ' Lovequake ' // Bobby Womack - ' Tell me why ' // Rick James - ' Don't give up on love '
