Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
Hi Godz I've got a Jacques Dutronc double album with all sorts of stuff on it which I could send you if you return it when you're finished with it. Let me know.

Who Played Bass On Tears Of A Clown....?
Fantastic - I've never heard of this instrument before - could very well be it or, as you say, something simulating it. It was good when Motown experimented in the studio. For example, the "clacking" sound on the intro to Reach Out and the trippy bits in Reflectons.

Great Intro's

Who Played Bass On Tears Of A Clown....?
Also, what the hell is the instrument which is used for the figure during the intro and before the verses ! ( not the bassoon )

Who Played Bass On Tears Of A Clown....?
According to his website, Bob Babbitt although the date of recording is suggested as 1970 when I always understood it's a 1967 cut. Was listening to it earlier today and the bass lines lack the embelishments associated with either James Jamerson or Carole Kaye so I think it's correct. https://www.bobbabbitt.com/disc.htm

Sad News Bob Babbitt Has Passed Away.
You just have to look at his discography on his website to appreciate his contribution to the music we love. Complete respect.

Soulful Covers
Nice cover of a standard - he also does a good cover of Ain't That Peculiar on the same album but couldn't find a clip of that.

Chris Clark - (Artist Of The Week)
This ain't a bad performance.

Holy Spirit - Spiritual Soul and Gospel Funk From Shreveport's Jewel Label

Gospel Classics Lp
Some info here. https://www.recordcon...hecker10046.htm https://gospelexplosi...od.com/id9.html This was on 123 Motown's wants list in May but no replies to date. Thread reads: Top drawer only copies please for a mate's present , last copy on Popsike went for $28 dollars in Jan !!! so NO silly offers please I'm after the album NOT the single !! I finally acquired the single yesterday after searching for a couple of years. In all that time, I never came across the album so think it must be fairly uncommon. I am also intrigued to know what the album is like.

The O'jays......2.great Videos Of The Mighty Mighty O'jays
I've watched the O'jays unsung before - it's highly recommended - Think Mike alerted SS members to the series early last year?. The others ( Tammi Terrell , David Ruffin, Bobby Womack and others ) are on Chalky's You Tube Channel ( search "Chalkster" ) and are also recommended. Look forward to watching the O'jays concert clip later today - thanks for posting.

Funky Soul
Not sure about the Monica track but agree the others you have posted are all very good. The Charlene & The Soul Serenaders is a Butch spin at the 100 Club and is, as you say, pure class.

ed wolfrum ,paul riser and dennis coffey , in the snake pit for first time together since " standing in the shadows of motown " ..and little me !!!
Hi Eddie What a marvellous trip ! - Very much enjoyed looking at your photo's. Hope you post an article as I am sure it will be of significant interest to many on here. Best wishes Mike

What'S Your 'Jewel In The Crown?'
Darrow Fletcher - I Like The Way I Feel How come this is not spun at the 100 Club ? (or seen on anyone's playlist ) Heard his Jacklyn and Groovy sides down there but this is just as classy and deserves to be in the spotlight. Same song writer as his earlier cuts, genius guitar, bass as funky as an unwashed armpit, superb brassy orchestration and, of course, DF's gritty vocals . It's a complete winner, a 10 out of 10 job ! Hope he sings it when he appears at the 100 Club in Nov. If you want to hear it, it's on my You Tube channel - link below

Music On 4 - Fred Perry Presents Soul Power Short Film
I was ill in bed yesterday and enjoyed watching all of these along with a Bobby Womack and David Ruffin documentary on Chalky's Youtube channel, a Bowie documentary on the BBC player and a Nick Drake documentary on You tube. A good days viewing so thanks for posting the links. ATB Mike

Kids
They were there last time I went to Boogaloo last summer - all dressed in purple Harringtons and sta press - had no problem with it and made me smile. Took my own daughter there too - mind you she is 21.

Arrived far too early for the dentist, so walked down to the river. This was in November last year, about 8 am. Did exactly the same thing last week, so took some more pictures as a comparison.
