Motown In Mono - 28th February 2020 release
Was thinking at first just the same. But when it comes to Tamla group LP's there's IMO very few that are actually that fully exciting to listen to from beginning to end without suffering the "all time" classic that you do not want to hear home anymore or the filler tune that they found on reels that ruins the whole picture. Thinking on the spot of the Temptations 'with a lotta soul', Marvin Gaye 'what's going on' the Miracles 'cookin' with' that should be reachable to Joe Public as well as to connoisseurs. But for the rest they are either collectors/fans albums or keepers for the one or two tracks that didn't got a 45 release kind of LP's to own.

Motown In Mono - 28th February 2020 release
Yes the term audiophile is wrong as there is no such vinyl thing. Qualities of different plastics yes. The 180 grams is only to minimize warp/dish-ing of the "pizza" but more plastic doesn't mean better playback definition. Audiophile mastering and/or recording materials do exists though. And those limited records sell brand new in the £100's a piece. Still that is another matter mostly dedicated to "audiophile" music aiming for high-end phone gear$... But MONO in my world IS KING undoubtedly. STEREO is always a sound engineer process thing. MONO is natural and STEREO an illusion that I don't care for one bit even though many do feel strongly about it. Used to or addicted to...

Soul Street - New Club Soul LP - funky side of northern soul
Hopefully a vinyl compilation, when done with taste and some 'representative' tunes that don't have the favor from all on the "scene", is a much smarter move as they aim anyway to those who can't afford the 45's yet still want to hear, discover and 'educate' their ear to "new" sounds as well. For those reasons I always favored my Kent compilations (pre N°50) as a 'beginner' and always had a dedicated dislike for the Inferno see through comp vinyl and cover with that 'tainted love' tune lasting 15 minutes and on the flip the house party pre-mixed job of too few "good" ol' classics. Onto which all was made as an artifact for the kids 'house party'. Here now I think it's a rather fair selection they did there. Maybe a tad too much on the 'safe' side of things. But I'm not concerned by comps anymore. Still it's good to see younger ones going for them and buzzing on about tunes

Lorraine Chandler. R.I.P.
Your Highness Miss Chandler I bow to your genuine Majesty. As a late teen the 45 'what can I do' was my first ever 45 I had to 'sought after'. To hear it all over again just reminds me how good that tune is. Singer, producer... What can I do when you're gone ? R-I-P

Melinda Marx - What 1965
GEEZZZ ! I learn everyday. No matter how I never liked Judy "Street" tune/version... Glad am I to know now it was a cover from... Melinda Marx !!! ... Somehow. Fool/stubborn ear that I am, glad still I am to learn/ear even what will even not (unless guilty secrets) suit my ears. But then... It's not so bad to live and learn... 😉

- News: Frank Wilson - The Story of Do I Love You (Indeed I do)
Wow ! Great article to read. Again and again and deeper at some stages. Particularly for me is that explanation bit with the story for the 1979 TMG release at Abbey Road Studio comparing the tape sent from Motown and the Eddie Foster boot whose sound had been lifted off from an original SOUL copy. My gut feeling was right but now I know the insight of it.- News: The Temptations - (Artist Of The Week)
Artist of the week with the Temptations... too easy... boring as it is so evident... well not quite actually... so many great materials to pick one or two from... too much materials overheard/play... through the decades... admitting they where that good ! In my former "northern" days my vote was instantly 'saving my love for a rainy day' putting back the Van Dykes version where it should have remain; in hommage obscurity. Early Gordy sessions with 'slow down heart', 'I want a love I can see'... And 'my girl' is actually fantastic. Got me the iconic USA pic sleeves and heard it allover again. Bass line... Drool ! Old farth we are should have the capability to listen with "new born" ears in order to hear it again for the second first time again ! That is something I've come to do once again and it is rather fulfilling. And today, with my random 45 selection next to my deck, this 'B' side gets a play at every night session... I am hooked. And please do play the 45 as the LP mastering is "soften" to waist.- Ronnie Walker RIP
Am still missing some of his material, but I'd wish I had all of his releases. One day 😉 Don't think there's many artist whom I am found of all their releases... Ronnie sounds (sings) like he's one of the good guys indeed. Humble, whole and kind. And he is still for sure; up there. This is how pervert "masterminds" operate. Just like to spread rumors, take some true facts then add up all the little twisted lies to trouble any attempt to tell appart the facts from the "mythology". This is how fake "historians" help create new Nations with "founding myth" made of that.- Bob Abrahamian Collection Preserved
Totally second that. Records are made to be played, loved and cared for. Like he did. And that is in home collections. Not in museums or libraries. So even for BobA legacy, to make a comprehensive like documentary with all his radio shows on DVD or so, funded with the sales of his record collections, should be something much more eloquent.
