  1. Whilst I agree it’s a record to show someone the door,it didn’t with me,I loved it and still do,the first record I owned was the blue casino classics lp,I loved every last song on it,then I was hooked for life! Sorry mate it’s my wording,I meant a record(not on purpose) that would put them off and never go near northern soul again😂
  2. I am currently trying to explain to a 48 year old woman what northern soul is,it absolutely beggars belief that you can live in the uk your whole life and have never heard of northern soul! So I got to wondering whilst it’s easy to suggest that all important first song on the road to obsession, what record would you lot suggest to absolutely make sure they never go near northern soul?😂
  3. Looks like a cock up to me! It ain’t a patch on the Yvonne Vaughn on dot version,I don’t know if Yvonne is the original version or not? But Yvonne is quite rare but never any more than about 400 quid!
  4. Doesn’t seem like 5 minutes when masquerades was a tenner,and nobody wanted it!😂
  5. I’d say from when allnighters and soul nites became more prevalent say around early 90’s,which made it more open for wannabe DJ’s to get spots, especially with the rise of the internet making record buying more accessible! It meant that the DJs weren’t something that fell out of the sky with a magical world in which the records came from! So in answer to the question I’d say the new name for a collector is DJ! Cos most collectors now buy the records with the floor in mind!
  6. Why have this perfectly fine and exceptable tamla issue at 120 quid when you could have the USA copy for 120k quid😂
  7. The mickie champion is a bit uncomfortable too! It seems to be for sale constantly! I’d have thought 450 for it!
  8. Also.. don’t think everybody is there watching the auction to the death week in week out! A good example is...last year I won a mint issue of the tempos I’ll never forget you for £460,I couldn’t believe it! I put £500 on at the start and actually forgot! Then early this year he auctioned another copy and got 2k for it! So proof being you can get a bargain even off Jim’s!
  9. On a similar topic....in the 80’s I’d never heard the original “suspicion “ track, and a 45 was put out as the “Detroit prophets” it was a female version, however it then turned out to be the original male Motown version but sped up to sound female, anyway at the time I thought the so called female version was the best thing I’d ever heard,I loved it! And when I heard the male original I didn’t like it at all,and still don’t! I thought it was way to to slow and it felt like the song was dragging! But I know it’s simply because I’d only heard the female cobbled up version first!
  10. Yeah I started this post in 2012,I had heard the record a couple of times off a tape I think,I was hell bent on getting the 45,to which I did,in fact I’ve had it twice in the last 8 years! But I’m afraid it really does bore you to death after playing it a few times, and I imagine if you pulled this out on a deck you would probably empty the place (apart from a couple of chin scratchers!) but rare doesn’t mean VALUE! I would still think this record is 300 quid tops (certainly never 3k)
  11. This creates more questions than answers? do you mean rosey Jones & the superiors half a chance is for sale on the site? I can’t see it on there? And whereas this is a 400 quid record, it’s likely to be 800 quid on there! In g condition with 5 cracks going through it! Haha and secondly who is Carlos monroe? elaborate mate?
  12. I’d say they were, they look the same as many I’ve had over the years! Shame the tomangoes keeps skipping though, unless it can be repaired it ain’t worth having, the precisions is an ok tune too! I’ve had the released 45 in the past, sounds a bit dated now,not sure from a djing point of view it would have any impact!
  13. A soul lp with the turtles on there! Whoever compiled this is on crack 😂
  14. Yeah I’m not overly fussed whether it makes it before Xmas,it’s an interesting little item that I would just like to have! Nostalgia I think, cos I use to love trump cards as a kid!
  15. Although...I’m a little concerned that the description said”posted out immediately “ I paid for mine on Tuesday night and it’s now Saturday, not seen hide nor hair of the item nor an email of dispatch! Will leave it till Monday night before I reign holy hell on earth🤨😂
  16. I like them, just bought one! Good shout!
  17. Tit for tat,if it’s dark blue on the IN label, it’s as original as your gonna get,if your gonna get to picky on absolute original, then I wouldn’t bother buying Uk presses of USA records! Eg...Barbara McNair love my baby 100 quid on absolute original Motown,uk tamla,500 quid, for one could argue second press? there will hundreds of examples of similar tit for tat detail!
  18. I personally think it will sit around at a thousand quid! 750 quid it’s gonna sell that day!
  19. I’d wanna own the rights to bills full back catalogue for that amount!😀
  20. I would say 90% of records on any of the auctions aren’t rare or even that desirable! Some 45s that appear on auctions sit on set sales for ages until the inevitable price drop!
  21. Skip Jackson,Jimmy s Clark and lee roye, what a fucking joke! I’m beginning to think that some of the biggest suckers in the world are on the northern scene! Jesus wept!
  22. Tends to be cheaper than the 1st issue stone blue label, but equally if not harder to acquire! I’ve had the issue and demo on stone blue, but never a Mercury issue! And I think it’s only available on Mercury red issue and not the white demo’s!
  23. Don’t worry your not missing much! 😀
  24. Is it fair to assume that these chaps in the video are the hytones? Being the backing group on the recording?
  25. To touch a penis...I can’t listen to this song whoever sings it!
