  1. Don't be sorry, it's good to get a topic of interest that takes a bit of research.
  2. In the book written by Tony Fletcher "In The Midnight Hour", which I've just pulled off the shelf it is said the Andantes were the backing vocals for the Correc-tone 45.
  3. Topic from the SoulfulDetroit forum... https://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.php?9990-Supremes-Primettes-Backing-Vocals
  4. I have to say, listening to LMBYB it dopes sound like Flo and Diana in places. One source I've read states the Andantes didn't form until 1962 and LMBYB was a 1961 recording?
  5. Respect to Simon and everyone for BVAN. Music has been the only outlet for many through these strange and often for some difficult times. BVAN has been one constant through it all, either with the monthly specials, specials or reloops. The banter has been great the times I've got involved which wasn't as often as I liked due to work, falling asleep cause of work 🙄 or the fact I can't sit down or still long enough 🤣 Hopefully we will be out and about soon and can hopefully fill the place in Bury as a massive thank you to Simon. Len....Simon and I will be walking 24km on Kinder Scout shortly...who knows what ideas will spring from that walk 🤣
  6. I read Mary said they sang backing for him.
  7. Primettes as far as I know, he knew Flo and Mary from school.

  13. Soul Junction New Release - Jesse James - If A Man Ever Loved A Woman (Baby I Love You) View full article
  14. Press Release: Jesse James “If A Man Ever Loved A Woman (Baby I Love You)/I Don’t Want A Divided Love” SJ544 Release Date: Monday July 12th 2021 Jesse James returns with the follow up to his hugely acclaimed previous release “(The Girl In) Clinton Park” SJ543. Once again, it’s another previously unissued recording found and taken from the same 1971 Searra Sound Studio session tape as “Clinton Park”. The title of this latest offering is “If a Man Ever Loved A Woman (Baby I Love You)” which is a splendid cover version of a song previously recorded by Dallas, Texas recording artist Bobby Patterson. Patterson’s original version was recorded a year earlier in 1970 for Fort Worth Insurance Man, John Abdnor Sr’s Abnak Music Enterprises subsidiary label, Jetstar. It’s a very laidback mid- tempo rendition of the song that Patterson co-wrote with Jerry Strickland. The Patterson version must have made enough some noise to have reached the ears of Oakland record producer Willie Hoskins who directed Jesse to record a more joyful and up beat version of the song, giving it a whole new dynamic! Once again this track if issued back in the day would have been released on the West coast Zay Records label. The b-side of this 45release is another onetime unissued song “I Don’t Want A Divided Love”. An emotional song of a man breaking up with his cheating woman that we at Soul Junction first released on Jesse’s “Let Me Show You” (SJLP 5005) album in 2012 a very popular song at the time that we received many requests in the ensuing years to release as a 45 single, well we got there in the end, enjoy. 16. Its a rare record for sure, rarely seen for sale. Few in collections which we might see surface now given the price. Not saying it is anything to do with him Steve, like you say he is trustworthy.
  17. Has to be some dodgy bidding going on
  18. That's wonderful
  19. That’s all it is worth IMO, it is far from rare You have to question the wisdom behind those who pay the sort of money they are when a quick shout out on here or facebook would save them £100s
  20. Jimmy Frazier, Sweet Things, barmy prices. Only JM can get 200 odd quid for the platters, I thought it was a tough sell for about £80
  21. This weeks show, 3rd June 2021 More 3,2,1 selections from listeners
  22. Brad Hales sold an acetate a few years ago with an alt take on it. Did one go through one of the auctions houses recently too? Just remembered think it was JM who auctioned the orange vinyl copy.
