  1. He's never gone away. He has tried to join groups on Facebook regularly. But as said be aware of him.
  2. modern soul has been part of Northern Soul for decades. FFS we haven't even got out yet and we have some dinosaurs moaning already. Modern soul has been part of and played at Northern Soul events for decades, much of what is termed modern is Northern. Have a word with the promoter if you are not happy.
  3. Agree with Parkypine the magma is excellent.
  4. I hope Tim @Colouredman doesn’t mind me posting this. This is what Tim said on Facebook in the Stafford group, pretty emotional and a wonderful tribute to Duncan.
  5. It is definitely true, it was his funeral today. R.I.P. Northern Cowboy
  6. Can’t remember, white demos I think, ones that didn’t jump
  7. She sold her biggie at Prestatyn, five copies she had I think when we were sat with her.
  8. 10k I think the last one?
  9. Leeds Queens Hall was the one I was referring to, over 7000 capacity according to the flyer...
  10. It is indeed
  11. Listened to this during the week. Excellent tribute from Shaun for Marc.
  12. why would I mention it???
  13. Leeds in the 70s. 6000 apparently.
  14. Three Voices in the mid 80s. More recently there was 6 allnighter promoters who worked together to ensure no clashes, we even had a joint flyer.
  15. The pandemic has shown that people are as selfish as ever. You only have to see the reaction to any government announcement, holidays, day trips when still locked down, the amount of events posted within minutes of the government revealing the way out of restrictions. Nothing has changed for the majority.
  16. If you go through the history of northern soul cover ups though, not many sound like the artist it is covered up as. The fact it was covered up usually served the intended purpose for some time and give the Dj the exclusivity he wanted. It was and still is good fun trying to work out who they are though.
  17. It appears the one behind Soultime Records is one of those jailed recently for bootlegging https://companycheck.co.uk/company/11703281/SOULTIME-RECORDS-LIMITED/companies-house-data
  18. Issue is far rarer
  19. Marvin Gaye was covered up as JJ Barnes and there is a similarity in their voices, apparently why JJ never got anywhere once Motown took over Ed Wingate’s labels.
  20. Ady was the one who flipped it as far as I am aware, that was in the 80s before Shifty got his stint there. I also cleared the floor at the Tracky Club and all over Yorkshire/Derbyshire with it about the same time, everyone still wanted the fast side. £1200 though is just barmy for something that in essence isn’t even rare, it is up for sale on a pretty regular basis. Chuck Cockerham has always been tough but never really achieved it’s worth when sold. Think the mainstream are finally latching on to it.
  21. The way I read the OP the guy wants a US Supplier, don't think Sounds Wholesale ship stateside?
  22. It is a test press to the one Blackpoolsoul posted....not sure who did them or how legit? https://www.discogs.com/Joe-Hicks-Dont-It-Make-You-Feel-Funky/release/6020921
