  1. Hasn't a Palmer release just sold for around 2.5k? LaBeat rarer IMO.
  2. He always had interests outside of soul. He was if I remember rightly promoting or managing a band at one time who weren't a soul act.
  3. who wears trousers? As for tax, paypal restrict your account when too much goes in via payments, especially from round the world. They are aware of money laundering and tax fiddles so you aren't secure with paypal, especially if they decide you are a business. Was told last week of an account being closed and not being able to access the money. I've had restrictions on mine at one time and had to answer shit load of questions.
  4. Steve Davis a regular at Thorne's Canal Tavern when Rod was the promoter.
  5. As for paypal fees, sellers should factor these in to their sales.
  6. The trouble with paypal is there is no real alternative. Well there is but not widely recognised or known about. For UK customers there is PAYM, a free system between banks which uses your mobile number. I've posted a topic or two about it on here but not many seem to interested? Most banks offer free bank transfer now, why peope don't use these facilities is beyond me. Maybe dealers should be making heir customers aware of PAYM and bank transfer? I rarely see them mentioned on lists, auctions etc.

  8. Your usual excellent high standard Mark, great read.
  9. Greedy b*stards some of them. some not happy with doubling their money or a bit more, some want five times the price one record was still available for on the labels site. Buyer often at fault but it is simply exploitation in some cases.
  10. Sooty was obviously in his own little bubble and oblivious to what was happening either elsewhere or around him. He hasn't listed one "newie". All had been or were being played by others. Many had been dropped by nighter DJ's, well the more forward thinking. He obviously has a different recollection of the scene than others and he seems to think there was only him out and about every week?
  11. Nice one mate see you there
  12. Don't forget Rod was carrying on the excellent work of Gary Welsh at the Canal Tavern.
  13. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
The Originals is fantastic, played it out in Doncaster last weekend.
  14. I was a great time for soul around South Yorkshire around this time, especially across the board soul music, no boundaries. Canal Tavern setting the standard and Pitches and The Phoenix following suite.
  15. seems the only thing people use these videos for is to take the p*ss so a bad thing in that respect.

The LP's if stopping I use really useful box https://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/uk/html/onlineshop/rub/b35_0litreXL.php Make sure it is extra large with the deeper lid. They do them for 45's 100 and 200 count box and also for cd's.
  17. Yes mate, know its a different production and the organ missing, I was being lazy I guess with my typing!

  20. Thanks mate. Trying to get scans of as many venue flyers from 80's and 90's as possible.
  21. Any chance of a scan of the flyer?
  22. I remember that night, Ozzie getting a slap/into a scuffle over an incident with talc . I'd had my Kurt Harris a while by then.
  23. I've never found any evidence other than someone's word that it was played and by Keith, was also told Ady Pountain played it but he flatly denied this saying he couldn't stand the record It was either covered up or just uncovered when I got my copy, be about same time as you I think. I also remember you playing the Escors then lending it to Rob to never see it again
  24. I got my copy from Adey Pierce. Didn't know of any others for sale at the time. it was also played at Stafford, Keith Minshull I've been told.
