Cheers Dave. I'm trying to get all my books on a digital version but so many don't yet go down this avenue. I know some who won't buy books now unless it is digital so some publishers missing out on sales. Thanks for that and look forward to it either way. Big part of the scene Philly Soul.

Can we have a kindle version of this books?
  3. I agree it is a good philosophy to have but like I said it is simply a shout for a favourite DJ. Like I said earlier it would be good if the topic starter could explain the reason of his term "balanced".
  4. There's been some on here saying they only bought a record to DJ with and also to make money on it if and when they sell up. You'd be surprised how many DJ with a record simply because it fills the floor.
  5. Some can do it though Joan but it isn't what the punters usually want though. Most these days want 60's and "70's oldies" Northern. Those that want crossover and more forward thinking 70's usually got o a different venue catering for these.
  6. I agree with you Cliff 99% of DJ's just stick to what they know or like and have no interest in anything outside their comfort zone. It's one reason I asked what "balanced" meant. Probably means mentally, in which case not many at all
  7. What I'm saying is people are simply shouting up for their favourite DJ who play a very good set, that is all. I did ask what the term "balanced" meant but as of yet have had no reply from the topic starter. I'm not saying what a DJ should play, but if a DJ plays a good set of oldies then he or she has just done a good oldies set. Likewise for a good set of 70's or crossover. There's very few whop play across the genres and with ease. Most do a set of one thing or another. When I see your name I know I'm gonna get a decent set of 60's Northern/Rare Soul, balanced never comes into it. Same for almost all the others I've seen listed in this topic, I know I will get a good set of 60's or 70's or whatever it is they are known to play. Is "balanced" gonna be the next big genre for promoters and dealers.......great balanced northern For me this is just another pointless topic no one seems to understand
  8. I recently bought from France and it arrived within the week. I got opinions though about the dealer and would do the same again for French, Belgian and Italian dealers. Many won't even ship to these countries now, seen plenty of descriptions on ebay saying they won't ship to these or they have to be fully insured and trackable.
  9. no mate, you just type the record in and it gives you a valuation. Be good if it gave you bootleg info as well. There's always Soul Source for bootleg info as well as the guides, some great knowledge on here.

The one without strings is the one that Butch plays. Peggy Byers not as good as the other two.

Her son I think it was heard the track on youtube and got in touch with someone. It was all on here when it happened.
  13. quick search for scans.... REAL ONE, FIRST ISSUE BOOT.... SECOND ISSUE (however dodgy you may or may not think it is)...
  14. I did read once upon a time the gold one was later booted or rebooted depending on your perspective? So there's at least one re-issue(?) and one definite boot?
  15. Is that from a favourite point of view or from a balanced DJ point of view cause Dave plays in the main oldies, no moving between the various genres of the Northern Soul scene with ease as a good balanced DJ should.
  16. Wasn't either the green or thew gold first re-issue or whatever you call it booted as well making three different release? It was cheap from a few sources in the early to mid 80s from what I can ascertain with a few I know paying very little for it, £20 etc.
  17. Gary Rushbrooke probably got it from Dave bit later?
  18. It was covered as Luther Ingram, just trying to remember who by....brain not functioning!
  19. Although Tims is now online so you save a few bob there.
  20. Dunno Tony but always had me doubts about them.
  21. Like others say around a grand for green label original issue. Always considered the gold ones as boots.

Going too close this topic, we've just had over five pages of this and no wish to go over it all again. Thanks.
  23. The Cameros are rumoured to be Jackey Beavers daughters or something like.
  24. Yes but the acetates were cut for the UK release weren't they? Can I ask you stick to the topic please, it's getting like too many other topics and going off all over the place.
