Martha Reeves Getting All Cocky In Record Collector
Her voice went years ago and like you Pete they would have to pay me to listen to her or at the very least let me in for nothing. Brenda Holloway and Carolyn Crawford I would still pay to see.

The Soul Discography
I'll see what I can find out for you Greg Think the Soul Discog will for a start begin later than the R&B Indies and looking at the sample pages it goes by artist rather than label, unless there are labels further on.

Dunno what you mean by economical with the truth Tony? The copy I listened to (and it was a genuine copy) was collected at the Lifeline all-nighter.

The Soul Discography
From Bob McGrath and the people at Eye ball productions who gave us the R&B Indies comes the Soul Discography. Three fact filled volumes to keep even the keenest anorak busy...... http://www.eyeballpr...ages/sould.html from the website Following in the celebrated footsteps of our Blues and Gospel Discographies, comes those much anticipated sibling triplets; The Soul Discography Volumes 1, 2 and 3.Employing the same session-based format as our Blues and Gospel Discographies, the format is set in the standard discographical layout, alphabetical by artist, chronologically by session/matrix number, listing personnel details, unissued titles and original releases. The details of the vast world of recorded soul music is spread over almost 1600 pages in three volumes. The golden window of 1960 to 1980 is happily violated wherever necessary. A granddaddy clause is granted for those with proto-soul roots from the 50s and a lifetime residency for the brave and faithful who continued their careers past the goalposts, right up until the present time. The first volume covering artists from A to F is available now, (536 pages, large format (8.5" X 11") Volume 2 and three will be published as soon as the final tweaking is done tweaked. sample pages (click to zoom)

Gwen Owens brought a small batch of this over with here when she came to Prestatyn, sure they were all ones that didn't jump.

One of the rarest on the label Tommy Tate - What's The Use/Ordinarily. Know of just two copies this side of the pond. Great record it is too.

You Didn't Say A Word
your reply was nothing to do with discussing the topic in question, it was you telling Tee to give you a squeeze, dunno how many times you need telling to knock these type of replies on the head. There was no need whatsoever to reply the way you did. If it had been about the further meirts of the record or something pertinent to the topic then that would be fine. The type of response you came back with will not be tolerated anymore, there are other places (namely freebasing) for the type of inane chit chat you keep responding with. You had better take in what has been said to you personally on several occasions and to the site as a whole very quickly.

Deep Shadows -The Best Of Kent Ballads out now
It is fantastic, listened to it three times this weekend, great for chilling out after a nighter or any other time for that matter The Paramount Four is fantastic, although not a dancer so maybe not appreciated as much by everyone it is up there with the one being played out by some dj's (when is that gonna be appearing on cd Ady?). Jackie Lee and Delores Hall, forgot how good this is Little Ann, subtle arrangement by Dave Hamilton that lets Little Ann's voice shine through showing all the emotion and soul of the girl, perfect soul ballad. There's the odd unissued gem and plenty of forgotten or often over looked sides and the cd is a must for everyone!! As you would expect there is a comprehensive booklet, 4,000 word essay in total giving the complete run down on the artist and the track in question

Cellar Full Of Motown Volume 4
some of the versions are no better than what is already out there. Some tracks such as the opening one, The Blackberries - Kidnapped is simply terrible. It wasn't my copy and on hearing it I can't see me buying one.

Cellar Full Of Motown Volume 4
I thought it was on general release now Tone. I wasn't expecting wall to wall stompers but I was expecting better than what I've heard. I've got the other three and they were all good but this one a big disappointment to be honest. The Motown stars are there, polished as ever, harmonies you would expect but the tracks are pretty poor and average at best, as i said you can see why some were canned.

Cellar Full Of Motown Volume 4
Anyone actually listened to this package yet? Listened to disc one on the way home from Lifeline this morning and got to say it wasn't very good at all, that's being polite. You can see when you listen why most of these were left in the can, really poor effort and really think they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for some of these tracks now. Couldn't face disc two so put the new Kent Ballads Cd on, class!!!

Track Id - "there Was A Time" C/u
I think it's a great track Andy, simply, sparce but infectious. Never really got the chance at the time with you retiring to reach it's potential. Cleethorpes I think the first place I heard it but I can't remember the year., could be 2001/2002? Could have been about the same time as Butch started playing Lifesaver???

there is no price, it is unissued. Few copies given to DJ's by Rob. Others got hold of it as these things happen.

Take Deep Breath..ha
I simply rolled my eyes/shrugged me shoulders and came back to soul source. Probably last time I'll see the page. See you tonight Joan for some of the proper stuff

Andy Dyson I think the first to get a copy from Rob several years ago, about the time Lifeline started or just after and went big on the all-nighter scene. This was after Andy Rix had retired. As well as those mentioned, I have a copy and several others now.
