  1. there is though an original 45 release of the Swans Nitty Gritty City. Back to your comment I don't know what source was used for the discs given to some DJ's some years ago. But for the sake of argument what if a track only exists on an acetate and the owner gives a few cuts to DJ's to give it exposure/get it out there so to speak. I know of several records that have been made into scene biggies this way, others taken form master tapes. It is practically impossible for one DJ to break a record these days unless the record is exceptional and the DJ in question gets a lot of bookings.
  2. Cheers for the info Stuart, will go and order mine now. Must say it looks fantastic.
  3. if you registered for it you can get it now, need to enter a code. Is it paperback only? The book and cd package doesn't say if the book is paperback or hardback. The book only option is paperback.
  4. Tough one, it's probably worth around £250 but there is big demand for this record so would think £300/350 plus.
  5. aren't these just hard records to get? A holy grail is surely something you will NEVER own. After all the holy grail has never been seen....well not since the days of Jesus Christ
  6. not sure mate, 1991 according to info on the clip and a discography I looked at.
  7. I've added it to the 60's soul sunday topic and apparently it is in fact the group's choreographer Roger Fluker and not the Precisions.

Wasn't the music to the out takes someone elses doing, not Tony Palmers? Shame he didn't include the out-takes on the DVD.
  9. thing is Malc the kids don't know any different, most youngsters weren't born when cds were introduced and have never had the option of vinyl. The actual format has always changed/evolved over time.
  10. At Ellie's 13th t'other week the kid...(well say kid he'd be in his early 20's) was djing from a laptop, virtual dj the program. Got talking to him mentioned I still dj'ed with vinyl...."too f*cking expensive that" was his reply
  11. you have been busted, go straight to jail, do not pass go , do not collect £200

If you look HERE This England is described as the Story of Break-dancing
  13. would a mid week event work now? Don't know about others but I know I can't make a mid week record fair. Said elsewhere a solely Northern Soul record Fair wouldn't work either, you would have to incorporate all Black Music. They still have large record fairs around the country as well.
  14. he did, can't remember what it sold for, it wasn't too high the price with not long left, didn't see the end.
  15. The Debbie Dovale was actually played from an Ace cd, Early Girls, Vol: 3. Brian Matthews always plays plenty of Black Music including at least one Northern record.
  16. hopefully I'll get a copy of this cd tonight, looks a belter
  17. as someone has mentioned you won't get anywhere with just a Northern Soul Record fair. It would have to be at the very least a Black Music Record Fair.

Roger Banks and Sam Moore had one about six months ago (maybe longer) in Nottingham, was good but could have done with more through the doors.
  19. think the one reason dealers put soul packs together is probably cause they can't sell 'em.

  22. Isn't the holy Grail something we will never have? Bill Bush hardly up there with the rarest of the rare!
  23. The venue it self will have to take out a licence, as they do now, can't see that changing. Sounds like they are clamping down on places of work.
