Tomangoes Acetate ?
And on and on and on it goes.... Once a record has been booted - that's it. Game over. Anyone can play it, everyone knows it. Play it if you like, but really... if you're buying an original AFTER it's been booted, then all you're doing is showing off how much more money you have than "Billy Bootleg". You don't have better taste, you don't have more skills, you don't know how to make a set flow - ALL you have is MORE MONEY. Who cares? And if you're worried about the warm-up guy playing all your "big tunes", then you should have a better playbox... I've said it before and I'll say it again - people get hung up on OVO. Maybe the definition of the word "original" needs looked at - maybe ORIGINAL shouldn't mean "rare historic artefact" but should mean ORIGINAL as in something fresh, something different, something new? "Oh, I can't believe blah blah played xxxxxxx - how original!"

Butch Cover-Up And More 45S
Sorry, only joking, just wanted to see how many views this post would get... A few decent records for the soul fan on a budget... Paypal preferred, P&P extra, PM to reserve. FOR SALE 45s: 1. BERRY STREET STATION feat. CAROLYN SULLIVAN "I Don't Care No More" b/w "King Bee" (Le Cam) M- £50 £40 SOLD! Great double sider, with the down-tempo downer classic "I Don't Care" aka "Dead", backed with a great mod instrumental (same as "Funky Funky" by Betty Brooks) - has sold on ebay for £100+. 2. EDDIE KENDRICKS "Date With The Rain" b/w "Born Again" (US Tamla) EX £30 £25 Classic 70s, always sounds fresh! This copy is in excellent condition BUT the flipside has scuffs and marks and plays with a few ticks and pops (more like VG). "Date With the Rain" plays brilliant, though with no problems! Usually sells for £40+ 3. Maxine Brown "Let Me Give You My Lovin'" (US Wand) VG £15 £10 SOLD! Not the prettiest copy of this classic - it's styrene and has a weird looking kinda stain about the size of a five pence piece, but it plays through this with no problems. Plays well, with just light background at times. Label has owners name in felt pen both sides. SO... to use a well worn phrase "fine for DJing" - usually sells for £30+ 4. BARBARA LEWIS "Hello Stranger" (UK London) NOC VG+ £10 £5 Rare first 1963 UK release (not red label Atlantic), in original company sleeve. No centre and few surface scuffs, plays fine. Books at £30. 5. Detroit Spinners "I've Got To Make It On My Own" (UK Atlantic K 10571) M- £50 £35 Great seventies track, apparently withdrawn in the UK - and no US release exists on 45. Lovely clean copy in Atlantic company sleeve. 6. The Goodees "Condition Red" b/w "Didn't Know Love Was So Good" (US Hip) EX £5 £3 Great doom-laden girl group classic, but has anyone flipped this? 7. Tom Jones "The Lonely One" (UK Decca) EX £4 Great 1967 mod sound, still pretty under the radar . 8. BENNY GORDON "All The Love I Got" (Estill) EX £8 Alternate version to the Wand release - label says 1959? ALBUM The Elgins "Darling Baby" (UK Tamla Motown STML 11081) ex/ex £40 £30 One of the rarer UK Motown albums, great stereo copy.

Berry St Station
Actually, I just posted one of these for sale last night - and hadn't seen this thread. Just keeps getting stranger. Think the record is equally in demand for the new breed R'n'B flip-side "King Bee"...

Vinyl Makes A Comeback (Again)
The downside of this is that it has become a big problem for small independent labels trying to get anything pressed, since the few remaining vinyl presses are working round the clock manufacturing product for major labels which were very quick to try and put the nails into the coffin of a format they found unprofitable... Wish I could find more information on the rumours that major labels bought a pressing plant in the late 80s and... tossed it in the sea. To help speed the death of vinyl.

Your Thoughts Please On New Venue
Am I missing something here? Are CD players really that much smaller than vinyl decks? From the comments above, sounds like if it was a "bring your own vinyl" and you had decks set up, you might get a good reception. As it is, everyone has given it a big thumbs down. Just saying, like...

£25 And Under Dj Sets
I quite agree - who cares how much a records costs or is worth? If you're a decent DJ and play a set that gets the dancefloor going, you're a good DJ and will get regular slots. If you're an average DJ and play a set that consistently empties the floor, then you're a shit DJ and you won't get any slots. Nobody wants to go to "The £25 and under OVO Northern Night" - they DO want to go to the "Totally rammed, jumping dancefloor Soul Night". The two could easily be the same thing...

Patrinell Staten
Does the story not go that John and Keb were on a buying trip, and the record was found by Keb - but the deal was Keb got the funk and John got the soul. Awesome record, love it to bits!

Timi Yuro Solid Middle?
Right enough, no copies showing up like that on popsike or 45cat. Looks pretty legit to me, though...

No Feedback No Further Purchases
Does feedback as a buyer even matter? As a buyer you either pay, in which case the seller sends you the goods. Or you don't pay, in which case the seller doesn't. Discogs automatically leaves negative feedback for non-payers, so it's easy to spot the dodgy ones. Feedback as a seller IS important, since that might sway whether you want to buy something or not, or influence whether someone might buy in the future. I've never once heard a seller go "oh, don't know if I'm going to sell this record to so and so, they've got 96% feedback..." If you pay, you've paid! Big deal!

Darrell Banks. Whats Happened To The Issue ?
Pete, I'm not talking about the Record Collector "second copy" I'm talking about Denbo swearing on his collection that there are two copies out there verified by authentic real people...
-
Darrell Banks. Whats Happened To The Issue ?
Hang on... So there ARE two known copies now? When did that happen??!!

Darrell Banks. Whats Happened To The Issue ?
Videos? Thought they were photos... and has been pointed out, photoshop is quite good. Well, photoshop isn't, the users can be. Record Collector's e-mail newsletter said a second copy had turned up, but think they were having a laugh - it's quite hard to tell. sorry, just seen your links - not working on my ipad...

Northern Soul Connoisseurs Pack
I love how everyone talks about how dealers know the price of everything nowadays, like when they were making up soul packs in the 70s, they didn't have a clue and were right royally arsing up by putting Purple Mundi's and rare funk 45s etc in there. Back then, soul packs were stuffed full of the crud nobody wanted, too. I'm sure a soul pack bought now will throw up a few gems a decade down the line, as people start getting more into 80s stuff and future genres like "three step" and "power ballads" come to the fore...
