  1. Top stuff this Tim.
  2. R.I. P. Brian, A True Gentleman , The very bedrock of Mr Ms and the early morning oldies main hall scene . ALWAYS HIT THE SPOT .
  3. Nobody but me Human beinz, Soul sounds , bought in school playground for pennies 1972.
  4. RIP Sly Stone . “Family Affair” just does it for me in a way very few records can . Kind of gets inside you . First heard it in The Servites Youth club cellar when it was released . Another one from that era I used to love was “Running Away “. Kind of Unique sound at the time .

  8. While I agree that the Oldies All nighters had a detrimental affect on the Saturday ,and therefore the newer 60s discoveries scene , especially the night after , but also , lots of people got into the habit of attending on a monthly basis instead of weekly , specifically for the First Friday in the month . The thing about those Oldies all nighters though was that after the first couple , the place was absolutely bursting at the seams and the atmosphere was out of this world , by this time , people were getting in through the roof , through back doors , fire exits , and it felt like they let in as many as turned up at the door .( as the rumors of closures grew over time , maybe it was a matter of make as much as possible before the whole thing ends) in hindsight this was probably a disaster waiting to happen , but at the time , it was a hell of a blow out !
  9. This relentless recycling of the same old stuff from professional Northerner Maconie is painful to watch , didnt he say somewhere last week that the Wigan All nighters started at 11 ? a small thing maybe , but not a mistake anyone who attended would have made. Richard is the guy that should be fronting this stuff in my opinion ,Also when the scene was at its heights , he was at the helm , and has been actively involved in various ways all the way through , So what if he has made a few bob along the way , criticizing this sounds like sour grapes. But I guess we are stuck with ole Stewpot.

  11. Thanks for pointing that out , just seen the clip , very strange to say the least .
  12. Was over there in late Autumn without having seen this ,so over a year after this pic was taken, the tree in its square planter box was still there. there was another identical tree on the other side of the shops entrance . The planter was easily moved 3ft to the right to give clear view of the plaque , may I suggest to anyone who finds themselves in that shopping mall in the future to do likewise and maybe they will get fed up of putting it back .

  14. Enjoyed the article , Great to see the picture of Vaughn with my old mate Barry (Big Eyes ) Robinson ,(R.I.P.) always the sharpest dressed guy around .
  15. Probably the only CD I have picked up since the first volume A Cool , low, dark soulful oldschool vibe currently permeating the house ... Perfect !
  16. Really enjoyed the film, love the period sets ...if anyone is into late sixties early seventies New York( I am sure many on here are ) I would also recomend "The many saints of Newark " , The Sopranos prequel , plenty of 60s soul in the soundtrack too .
  17. Ms playlist changed when the Twins started Dj ing in there , They seemed to go for Rare originals , many of which had recently stopped being played downstairs as the had been pressed , whereas before ,with Kenny Spence , Mike Rollo etc ,it was more about the kind of stuff on Banners playlist . Mike Rollo would always start with "Wade in the water" . lots of 50p records would shake the place to its foundations , one that always had that effect was The Bandwagon ," Breaking down the walls of heartache ". Loved the place , Another level .
