  1. Don't forget the flip, a proper soussan masterpiece"Simons theme" what a character , I'd love to interview him . Regardless of his ways , he did discover some amazing records, and he got Ian layed too !! Ha ha
  2. Pioneer has never had decent phono inputs, it's all about digital these days. , maplin is pro sound badged chod , but it's your choice , don't let my 30 years in the business sway you !
  3. It's good but you can't defeat the x fader and no balanced outputs , I would never sell mine as I like it too much, but I'd still go for a formula sound as my top choice
  4. I have a technics mixer , it's great for scratching but the eq is like no other mixer ever ! It's not the best tho , formula sound is by far the best sound quality or a rodec if you can find one cheap
  5. No don't try maplins - it's utter crap , citronic 10-4 or 8-4 is a good choice , behringer used to be good 10 years ago - I stopped stocking that brand
  6. Some can pick up the stamps in the runout groove, I know this for fact ! But I still say it's due to demand from new to the scene djs who, are buying these boots, it's killing the scene but they can't see it , they only see how popular they can be for an hour playing salvadors tomangoes etc whilst paying £10 a pop or £30 on a lookalikey
  7. What did you expect when hundreds of soul nights all over the country are popping up £3 in djs dave mave maves best mate rave playing nothing but boots ? If people didn't attend these inferior events then the public wouldn't be subjected to a flood of repros on evil bay . Thank heavens for the deck cams , at least you can see who's doing it right and who isn't .
  8. Soussan is alive and well in 2015 ! Buyer beware I say
  9. The only saving grace is that record manufacturing has changed over the years, making it quicker and low cost to actually produce vinyl records . And the uk pressing plants such as pye Decca etc have long gone , so uk wise your pretty safe for now until someone creates a vintage press from scratch , plus the way things are recorded from source (digital) means that it's not taken from acetate and also run out grooves will have no machine stamp . Not saying it could not be done but it would have tell tail signs ! Merry Xmas and happy hunting
  10. Speak to Kev Roberts he's on here as golden 101 or email him at his site kevroberts.com
  11. So what's a nico copy worth ?? I have had mine for years , was a catacombs spin at one time I think ??
  12. I spoke to the owner of itzy records daughter a few years back, she told me her father loved the record and put it out on his label around 5-6 months after swan. Hope this helps pete
  13. There is a knack to it, ok here it is, gently rub the grooves clockwise with your thumb, secondly, play it on a decent deck(sl1210etc) with a shure m44 cart styli set to 5gram, its enough to "cut thru" the scratch whilst not damaging the record, if its a styrene press, 3 gram, repeat untill success Merry Xmas
  14. Top stuff pete, love the warts n all slant
  15. Terrible news , the worst thing is it's a journey collecting , I for one know who or where you buy things - I traded this 45 at the casino or I bought this off pete s etc, it builds a picture that can never be replaced I hope you get some news on the missing records soon
  16. Mike raven even produced it !!
  17. You got joe90 British demo ?? See you next week bro ozz
  18. Lots of copies sold in Pittsburgh , a very popular record there so maybe the pam200 was done to satisfy demand ? It's a minefield this game
  19. So, are we saying that Palmer is first ? closely followed by pameline, then vault ??
  20. Still say it looks great on Palmer , a pretty 45 and I think jus voice sits perfectly on the backing , it's gravel and gritty, but pete is right it's a tough climb for that note he can't hit !!
  21. Tim Ashibende found it in the 80s I think on a trip to the states - in the country section of all places !!
  22. I must have it then , I bought Barmy Barry's records about 3 years ago
