  1. Heard the b side played out a few times when released.
  2. Reading your post I assumed you were talking about your record collection, all the replies relate to selling your home, I might be being a bit thick, which is it please?
  3. I'll maybe watch the England games and dip into Wales's efforts but after that have little interest. I'm not particularly interested in politics in general but after watching several documentaries on the awarding of the world cup to Qatar and the reports of abuse of human rights, the fact they have no experience of hosting something on this scale I think it will be a miracle if events off the field don't overshadow the football.
  4. I like it how it is, notifications work for me if someone posts something new without the need to read through multiple posts elsewhere.
  5. Cheers Andy, must have been a very frustrating few months for you and Detour, look forward to it's arrival.
  6. No regardless of the artist or artists. I rarely play the couple of hundred cds I own so definitely won't return to cassettes.
  7. Good question and one that I've pondered over in the past. I think if you had posed it another way "if you could only have records from one or the other in your collection" the answers may have been slightly different. Both labels were instrumental in my life long love for the music, I'm going to plump for Stax for no other reason than I still get the tingle of excitement I got as a fifteen year old when I see that blue label and little stack of records. Back then Sam and Dave were magical names for me, Otis was King. Much as I love Motown and I probably have an equal number of both labels in my collection Stax probably edges it with tunes I'd be at a loss to never hear again. That said ask me again tomorrow after more thought and a few spins on the decks and it could be Motown.
  8. All good Vance, likewise hope you are both ok. I had an email tonight from Discogs support saying they are looking at the account concerned and the possible steps they might take. Hopefully it wil be a one off but as you say these people seem to find ways to get through.
  9. Hopefully it will be a one off and not the start of a trend with these people using Discogs as a point of contact.
  10. I received an email tonight from Discogs saying I had a new message from someone called Emilyxm inviting me to view her private photos on a site away from Discogs. The message was also on my Discogs account. I haven't opened it and have reported it to Discogs. Anyone ever had this happen or something similar?
  11. Quality brewery and very popular too👌. First brewery we bought from when we had a beer club at work. Some nice tunes there too👍
  12. Irma Thomas Anyone Who Knows what Love Is, BBC 3, Who Stole Tamara Ecclestones Diamonds, at odds with every other piece of music used.
  13. I'd class myself as a collector though very much in the basement where prices are concerned, on average around four a month. Constant tug of war between brain, heart and wallet, if the heart won more often I'd be on a diet of beans on toast. Going off my wins to losses ratio on ebay I'd say there's still a lot of collectors out there buying at under forty quid. I buy a mix of predominantly lesser known tunes, things I've always liked, new releases and the odd Reissue where I'm never going to afford or want to pay the price for an original.
  14. I watched a record on ebay the other week, wrongly listed as a demo, nine for sale on Discogs starting at £39 and up to £49. The guy on ebay started his at £30, after five days with no offers he reduced it to £28,further reduced it to £25 ending up at £22.50 unsold. If he had no interest at that price what chance have the Discogs sellers got. I don't know whether some sellers take into account when listing records the number of people listed as wanting that record combined with the price of those already on offer before deciding what to ask but if they do and they can see x number for sale far outweighed by the number of people wanting surely common sense must tell them the the ones currently on there are overpriced, obviously I'm talking records with multiple copies avaliable. If there are more people like myself who use the wants list as a convenience to list records I've heard, liked and checked the price of but in some cases have no desire to buy then the number of people actually wanting a record may be far less then sellers think.
  15. In the nicest possible way good luck with that, was there pre Covid, loads of records in the flea market area, never seen so many trashed records in my life. Stacks of them, very few in any sort of cover. Saw little soul related, I wondered if they were all ex juke box. Went through hundreds in the short time we were there. Only found two actual record shops one who had load of current Kent releases etc. There must be other shops obviously but we weren't there searching for records though the few hours spent doing so was enjoyable and very frustrating. The nearest I'll get to feeling how it must have been for the guys going to the US years ago. Only Northern record I saw was a copy of the Tempests on Stardust in a box of decent condition singles and he wanted more than they are listed on Discogs, power of the Internet? I did see a Greek issue of Mr Bloe which I was tempted to buy for the novelty. Also saw three Paul Anka ep's in a junk shop only to remember later someone posted on here that there was a nice tune on an Anka ep though I think that was a Spanish one. I do realise your reply was tongue in cheek and there are records there in quantity.
  16. Enjoy Corsica, thanks for posting as always, I hear it is really beautiful.
  17. I bought a record at the weekend, can't say what as its a gift and the future recipient might read this. Five on Discogs, didn't look elsewhere as I wouldn't have got it any cheaper, under a tenner for a brand new copy, it's not a recent record it's from some time back. Three for sale from the EU at under €10. The only remaining copy in this country £69. If you're not prepared to pay taxes etc for the EU ones does that suddenly make it a £60 record for anyone listing it in this country.
  18. That's interesting Karl, do you have any idea as to the numbers involved. Looking on Discogs which I'm aware isn't always accurate they released several other Ltd tunes the last two being limited. Any idea of the numbers released on a normal issue if they upped the limited and to what they upped it to? As you say fair play to them catering for the demand.
  19. First off thank you for taking up my suggestion Mike. I currently buy about the same as pre Covid. A mix of predominantly originals, an occasional splurge on reissues of tunes not so much that I couldn't afford on an original issue but go for more than I would want to pay. Also buy new releases. I have no strong views either way on the rights or wrongs of limited releases, fully understand buyers frustrations when they miss out. Happy Feet's suggestion above seems a reasonable one to at least perhaps stop people buying multiple copies for profit, not 100% sure it would though.
  20. Original Gravity's Floyd James release of Green Onions initially a limited 300 run was repressed a couple of months ago with a different b side. On the notification email it said re pressed due to multiple requests from customers which I suppose is another way of saying public demand. This tme it was limited to 250, there is no indication on the site as to how many are left but it is still avaliable. My point being only those issuing the records the likes of Diggin Deep, Last Bastion, Hit and Run etc know the hard work and stress that goes into the whole process and what the likelihood is of potentially selling x number of records. If it were you and you knew you could sell 300 but might, just might sell and extra 200 which way would you go. Don't get me wrong I'm not defending limited releases nor am I decrying them. I think we should be grateful that there are people out there taking the time and trouble to bring us these tunes. I've missed out on as many if not more than I've managed to get. I don't know any of the people involved in releasing these records but would imagine the rewards financially when all considered are small. Being potentially left with unsold records could I guess wipe out any profit and who sets out intentionally on a project to lose money. I know this doesn't answer your question and I fully realise if some limited releases were done in greater numbers they would eventually sell as they got played out.
  21. I'd agree with that, there was a discussion on another thread about limiting releases to 300 copies and that not being enough. I have some sympathy for those releasing limited editions, they can't do right for doing wrong, as you say Russ some sell out but plenty don't. The recent issues of Jon Skinner and Kim Tibbs being examples of sell outs that are now being touted at way above original selling price, conversely North Broad St's recent limited release still has around 100 copies for sale. Searling's Johnny Baker release which he urged people to be quick or miss out copies of which quickly appeared on Discogs at £90 have now levelled out around £45 and don't appear to be moving on that quickly. That release I'm not proud to say was the only one I've bought with a view to possibly selling on, I'd just started buying again and didn't have a lot of spare cash thinking it would fund future purchases, what was in my head at that point I don't know as I have little experience of selling other than to mates. Still got it and probably always will. It is also the only record I've bought not actually liking the song. Like you I've bought quite a few limited editions, some of which are still avaliable and for less than I paid. Some have gone up in price which is nice but as I'm never going to sell them is of no importance other than a little extra for the kids on my demise.
  22. I was surprised to see he has Craig Douglas Don't Mind if I Cry listed as UK only which had releases in India Portugal and South Africa. Maybe in this case the UK only relates to a demo copy.
  23. Second purchase from the store, brilliant service, super fast delivery, competitive prices, what's not to like.
  24. Home Bargains this very minute, Otis Hard to Handle 👍
  25. Home Bargains seems to have an eclectic playlist on its piped music, quite often find myself shuffling along in front of the beer shelves seeing what specials they have. This week Harry J Liquidator came on, something far more obscure played once but can't bring to mind what it was.
