  1. Great price, great record
  2. Hey Matt, FYI went over to that address after the recent one went high on ebay, it's a crappy residential multi-uniti building on the wrong side of Prospect Park, no chance of any more copies still sitting there, second record to show up with an address close nearby my home recently, craziest was Gene Tune on Jemell which is actually from my street just 2 blocks down, that one blew my mind, nice find for you haven't seen any here in many years of living in Brooklyn/NYC
  3. that's about what the long queue looks like to get behind Ryan! (actually site wouldn't let me post more emoticons or would be more realistic)
  4. Scanning thorough the Cosimo pages is like seeing a bunch of your favourite friends all together in one place for the first time, what a legacy of amazing recordings, wow, hard to really start pulling a Top 5 but here's a personal stab 1. Watch your step - The Bare facts (Hot Line) how on earth did this get released on Hot Line, searing brutal 5***** garage with a break to die for 2. Lenny McDaniel and the New Era - Something out of nothing (Seven B) bought way back when it was an unknown and only speculated about on a couple of collector boards, paid a chunk of change despite the lack of soundfile on the auction, it arrived on a Friday afternoon and put it on the turntable simply thinking "please don't suck, please don't suck", 10 seconds from the start was leaping round the room beaming 3. Walter B and the Untouchables - I can't stop loving you (Apollo) suspect still under-rated as too few copies around in playboxes but know was a Stafford spin, out and out Northern stomper, too fast for most these days probably, tough, Walter Boligny's voice is unmistakeable on all of his releases 4. Joe Wilson - I'm her only man (White Cliffs) just a perfect record for today's dancefloors, as punchy as the lyrics (he spends the song promising to flat out deck anyone making a move on his woman), still woefully obscure so grab it if you see one 5. Skip Easterling - Run along to Mama (Alon) Owner of one of the most pure blue-eyed voices on vinyl and the song is a pure gem, won't rest until I make it to Ponderosa and finally get to hear him sing this live
  5. Fell in love when first saw that photo being auctioned, luckily a glossy copy now lives in NYC so can admire it in person, candidate for best looking girl group ever!
  6. No idea what price to put on it Dave but knowing how many Instant 45's the likes of Finewine have been through and not found one agree can't be many around and def has all of the ingredients, popcorn / r'n'b / even a rockabilly tinge to it too, very nice little record. Yes Traci owned Knight, worked with Eddie Bo, managed some local white garage bands too, interesting guy!
  7. Love this track, recommended it a few years ago here, think still have a couple of copies or Matt did I sell one to you? Don't see it come up much for sure.
  8. Best version of Leaving here is the rather rare one by the lovely Miss Connie Austin

You guys are resurrecting the funk board here, keep up the good work!
  10. Will readily vouch for Nick, diamond geezer all round and these are some great records On which subject, the Richie Kay isn't too well known in Europe but it's a personal fave!
  11. https://www.facebook.com/soulmotion.co.uk#!/soulmotion.co.uk Seems to be more into Michael Jackson than rare soul, maybe as fancies himself as a "Smooth Criminal" when it comes to how he goes about buying records?
  12. Get yourselves a friend in the States and have records shipped to them to then forward onto you, I do this constantly for a fair few friends in Europe, not just avoids any risk of a seller putting a high customs value, if you buy a fair few records and have them bundled together the postage rates are way way more bearable, eg this weekend just sent a box of 65 records PRIORITY USPS to Europe - this includes tracking, plus is fast, usually there within a week - and postage was only $69.80, i.e. barely $1/record, the rates for regular, small packages are truly sky high now so this way is vastly better.
  13. The first scan that used to load on a much earlier version of John's main page was the Italian fisheye lens Seven Souls sleeve, a copy that he auctioned on my behalf and got a great price on that I was very pleased with, the scan staying up for a year or 2 afterwards certainly didn't mean he hadn't sold the record.
  14. Sadly yes Pete, I hadn't seen the original label back then or would have been obvious
  15. Haha I found 2 of those Keyser boots in a charity shop in Brighton couple of decades ago and got all excited for an hour or two not knowing they weren't legit, ah well
  16. Not only do I hate this record but the guy who gets name checked at the start has the exact name/surname as me, ouch, I'm not changing mine but wish he'd change his!
  17. Not selling mine but if you look on John M's site looks like he has a nice one in stock Greg, go for it!

Her other 45 is way less known but just as good, storming version of Eddie Holland's Leaving here, terrible epitaph about her in the sleevenotes of the Kent King comp, "beautiful woman who moved to LA and got murdered", beyond ouch
  19. Bought the Mafmon boot as a teenager when I didn't even understand what a boot was, that still has the uk5 sticker on the sleeve, one of the best records of all time, hope went to a good home Nancy! ps welcome back to the US!!

The start of the Counts is always amazing, great record, amazed it's not snapped up already Ricky Dee was Ricky Drapkin, more known as a songwriter, his other sides are more teen, eg My girl on Patlow, but do wonder if he was one of the vocalists in the Motor City Bonnevilles on the same label
  21. Did you ever have any luck with these Ady, I do have their Swingin' release buried somewhere, had a spare too but think that's gone, plus was Ty Karim ever part of this duo by any chance?
  22. That offer for the Purple Hears was laughably low even then, RIP Lobby Loyde, he died a few months after these old posts were made.
  23. Am sure this story could be written about anywhere else too https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/queens/queens-woman-seeking-buyer-large-vinyl-record-collection-article-1.1290208?localLinksEnabled=false
  24. Know what you mean, good friend here, Marty, relentlessly used to Shazam my sets for a while and finally gave up haha
  25. Does make it amusing when people have posted c/u's and simply playing it into Shazam uncovers it right away
