Northern Soul Deejay's Of The Future ?
I've been quoted the fact that "youngsters don't wish to infiltrate their parents scene" so to speak on numerous occasions, and agree in the main, that the younger generation, whilst maybe influenced to a degree in our superb musical ethos, will put their own slant on it all in due course! My youngest son is big into his music, and whilst at 24 years of age has a "grounding into the real deal" nowadays "gives his take" on the London "Boogie/retro disco" scene.....and still loves his vinyl.....amongst CD's and downloads...... Can't stop his pocket money any more tho' .....he earns more than me

Has The Rare Scene Split?
Apart from "my front room", I am limited by shiftwork to limit my "listening" time, and "throwing a few shapes" nowadays is as rare as a totally good night out! The only split in the"rare" soul scene observed in my tenure as a 37 year participant is an individual taste from a musical perspective....I go where I want....and listen to likewise! The rest is opinion...

Sincere thanx also for the other responses greatfully acknowledged- Bobby Bland
Thanx for the detail Keith, am currently re-reading Groovesville USA to glean more detail than my first "scan", and the above information does put some more "meat on the bone" so to speak.....Perhaps you could muster up a "follow up" addenda covering non Detroit artist(e)s who recorded in the Motor City with detail such as above- Bobby Bland
Cheers Kev, but I'm led to believe he recorded an entire session there and several 45's were the result?- Bobby Bland
Could anyone enlighten me as to the tracks Bobby Bland recorded in Detroit, and would I be right in saying that, Shoes, YumYum tree, and These hands small but mighty, were indeed three of such actually done in the Motor City? Thanks in advance.....wilxy- Playing Funk Records At Soul Venues
That is a good shout Sean.....and whilst I'm not averse to any "sub genres" within "Our musical arena".....sometimes an overdose of something that "I" deem as banal personally, almost becomes an agitation! Each to their own I know.....but recently heard a set that I wished i'd taken up smoking again- Playing Funk Records At Soul Venues
Stick to Liza Malc....You don't need" the force"......You need the Soul mate!- The Perfect Dj Spot
The perfect DJ spot IMHO is the one that plays every record that satisfies my own personal taste .....might not be to everyone elses taste mind you- Priscilla Page - I'm Pretending
Oh Bolleaux.....I didn't realise there were two different mixes, and I'm bound to have purchased the more common of the two whilst having paid the higher price....Doh- The Most Miserable Record Dealer
I know the fella you're on about Eddie, he does the Cheltenham fairs, I always expect him to pull a couple of rabbits from under those blankets, or something more perverse- 100% Proof
Having recently purchased the edsel double CD there are as Tony stated three different versions ,two of which are included in the bonus tracks being indeed the US single version and UK single edit.- Tomangoes On Washpan
Would love to own a copy of this awesome tune.....one of my all time favourites"out of Detroit":D ........- Sidney Barnes And The Funk Brothers 'chains'
Enjoyed that- What Was The Best All-Dayer
I'd say Whitchurch Civic was probably my fave all-dayer, but remember a couple of occasions doing Yate All-niter by car, back to the'Port...."wash and brush up" then on the train to Birmingham Locarno All-Dayers.....and totally free from all things other than the music itself I remember doing the odd 'dayer in the West Midlands and I'm sure one of them was Tiffany's Halesowen, whilst in Gloucestershire the superb Watson Hall in Tewkesbury.....albeit my very first couple of all-day soirees were courtesy of the Inter city soul club at Tiffany's Durdham Down in Bristol, and shortly after at the Stirling Suite at Yate........Great Great Days Regards wilxy - Bobby Bland
