Don't think so Kev ....according to my information....courtesy of the Detroit Soul index...ala Keith Rylatt, which lists American-Arts,Astra,Chex,Impact,Inferno,Karen, Old Town, and Twirl....Best wilxy

Thanx for the detail Keith, am currently re-reading Groovesville USA to glean more detail than my first "scan", and the above information does put some more "meat on the bone" so to speak.....Perhaps you could muster up a "follow up" addenda covering non Detroit artist(e)s who recorded in the Motor City with detail such as above

Cheers Kev, but I'm led to believe he recorded an entire session there and several 45's were the result?

Could anyone enlighten me as to the tracks Bobby Bland recorded in Detroit, and would I be right in saying that, Shoes, YumYum tree, and These hands small but mighty, were indeed three of such actually done in the Motor City? Thanks in advance.....wilxy
  12. That is a good shout Sean.....and whilst I'm not averse to any "sub genres" within "Our musical arena".....sometimes an overdose of something that "I" deem as banal personally, almost becomes an agitation! Each to their own I know.....but recently heard a set that I wished i'd taken up smoking again
  13. Stick to Liza Malc....You don't need" the force"......You need the Soul mate!

The perfect DJ spot IMHO is the one that plays every record that satisfies my own personal taste .....might not be to everyone elses taste mind you
  15. Oh Bolleaux.....I didn't realise there were two different mixes, and I'm bound to have purchased the more common of the two whilst having paid the higher price....Doh
  16. I know the fella you're on about Eddie, he does the Cheltenham fairs, I always expect him to pull a couple of rabbits from under those blankets, or something more perverse

Having recently purchased the edsel double CD there are as Tony stated three different versions ,two of which are included in the bonus tracks being indeed the US single version and UK single edit.

Would love to own a copy of this awesome tune.....one of my all time favourites"out of Detroit":D ........
  19. I'd say Whitchurch Civic was probably my fave all-dayer, but remember a couple of occasions doing Yate All-niter by car, back to the'Port...."wash and brush up" then on the train to Birmingham Locarno All-Dayers.....and totally free from all things other than the music itself I remember doing the odd 'dayer in the West Midlands and I'm sure one of them was Tiffany's Halesowen, whilst in Gloucestershire the superb Watson Hall in Tewkesbury.....albeit my very first couple of all-day soirees were courtesy of the Inter city soul club at Tiffany's Durdham Down in Bristol, and shortly after at the Stirling Suite at Yate........Great Great Days Regards wilxy

Sad to hear of its final demise.....Had some great times at Lea Manor!
  24. I can honestly say, I've only ever owned one, and can remember vividly the night/whereabouts (albeit not the exact date) I bought it!.... Approx 1975 at the "Oval" in Cheltenham on a Tuesday night, where I remember Jerry "Hippo" Hipkiss was in"residence"......Hot Line- Reggie Garner was on the one side (Can't quite remember the flip), albeit I actually recall it due to the fact that on leaving for home at the "finale"@ 1 Am and having to wait til 4 AM for the train home to the "port" with a severe case of the "squits"...... Whilst subsequently concluding the shellac had influenced my "regularity........ I suddenly decided to go totally OVO........It was indeed a case of s-it or bust! .....A True Emidisc experience
