  1. I've been quoted the fact that "youngsters don't wish to infiltrate their parents scene" so to speak on numerous occasions, and agree in the main, that the younger generation, whilst maybe influenced to a degree in our superb musical ethos, will put their own slant on it all in due course! My youngest son is big into his music, and whilst at 24 years of age has a "grounding into the real deal" nowadays "gives his take" on the London "Boogie/retro disco" scene.....and still loves his vinyl.....amongst CD's and downloads...... Can't stop his pocket money any more tho' .....he earns more than me
  2. Apart from "my front room", I am limited by shiftwork to limit my "listening" time, and "throwing a few shapes" nowadays is as rare as a totally good night out! The only split in the"rare" soul scene observed in my tenure as a 37 year participant is an individual taste from a musical perspective....I go where I want....and listen to likewise! The rest is opinion...

So Sean, are you changing your avatar to the b----t-rds.....or sticking to the fishmongers?
  4. Whilst I never got down to Abshot....I have many great memories of the superb Newbury niters of which I was a fairly regular attendee....Happy times! PS.Hope you're keeping well Russ
  5. That is indeed the plan Joan......A long day and night planned
  6. Much Love and Respect Lorraine....A true Legend and very much revered....Love ya, wilxy
  7. This sounds like a must do event
  8. Don't think so Kev ....according to my information....courtesy of the Detroit Soul index...ala Keith Rylatt, which lists American-Arts,Astra,Chex,Impact,Inferno,Karen, Old Town, and Twirl....Best wilxy
  9. An absolute Detroit legend
  10. Will be in attendance Mark, maybe with a small trades box, but definitely as a punter.....

  13. Sincere thanx also for the other responses greatfully acknowledged
  14. Thanx for the detail Keith, am currently re-reading Groovesville USA to glean more detail than my first "scan", and the above information does put some more "meat on the bone" so to speak.....Perhaps you could muster up a "follow up" addenda covering non Detroit artist(e)s who recorded in the Motor City with detail such as above
  15. Cheers Kev, but I'm led to believe he recorded an entire session there and several 45's were the result?
  16. Could anyone enlighten me as to the tracks Bobby Bland recorded in Detroit, and would I be right in saying that, Shoes, YumYum tree, and These hands small but mighty, were indeed three of such actually done in the Motor City? Thanks in advance.....wilxy
  17. That is a good shout Sean.....and whilst I'm not averse to any "sub genres" within "Our musical arena".....sometimes an overdose of something that "I" deem as banal personally, almost becomes an agitation! Each to their own I know.....but recently heard a set that I wished i'd taken up smoking again
  18. Stick to Liza Malc....You don't need" the force"......You need the Soul mate!
  19. The perfect DJ spot IMHO is the one that plays every record that satisfies my own personal taste .....might not be to everyone elses taste mind you
  20. Oh Bolleaux.....I didn't realise there were two different mixes, and I'm bound to have purchased the more common of the two whilst having paid the higher price....Doh
  21. I know the fella you're on about Eddie, he does the Cheltenham fairs, I always expect him to pull a couple of rabbits from under those blankets, or something more perverse
  22. Having recently purchased the edsel double CD there are as Tony stated three different versions ,two of which are included in the bonus tracks being indeed the US single version and UK single edit.
  23. Would love to own a copy of this awesome tune.....one of my all time favourites"out of Detroit":D ........
  24. I'd say Whitchurch Civic was probably my fave all-dayer, but remember a couple of occasions doing Yate All-niter by car, back to the'Port...."wash and brush up" then on the train to Birmingham Locarno All-Dayers.....and totally free from all things other than the music itself I remember doing the odd 'dayer in the West Midlands and I'm sure one of them was Tiffany's Halesowen, whilst in Gloucestershire the superb Watson Hall in Tewkesbury.....albeit my very first couple of all-day soirees were courtesy of the Inter city soul club at Tiffany's Durdham Down in Bristol, and shortly after at the Stirling Suite at Yate........Great Great Days Regards wilxy
