    Get well soon Russ
  2. I've heard some truly great sets over the years, and albeit I haven't been for a while, the 100 club regulars always did the business for continuity of excellent sets, and more recently the Burnley all-niter which for me on every occasion I've attended, I can honestly say I've enjoyed every single set I've heard and without patronising them I applaud both their enthusiasm and ability to put together well thought out sets which are fresh on the ear,(inclusive of all guests included to date) and makes the 6 hour round trip very very worthwhile.........
  3. Once heard "Hit me with your rythm stick" Ian Dury & the Blockheads played at Yate all-nighter by a well known Soul Sourcer DJ, but I'll leave him to own up to it......
  4. Edward Hamilton-Baby Don't You Weep....
  5. E-Mailed you Keith
  6. Dean, It might be an idea to also try the Soulful Detroit site, "Motown sub-forum" and ask the question?
  7. E-Mailed you Pete
  8. Now somebody beat that for a response, forgot only the kitchen sink, Chalky
  9. I think you took my reply out of context Mark, what I should have emphasised is there has been criticism in other threads of "old school ethics" being outdated. I for one am proud of the original as such ethics as it's what makes our scene unique,in my humble opinion but I know it is a view that may be sneered at in some quarters as snobbery. As a collector first and formost, when I do occasionally "play out" I cringe at the fact that other individuals play anything but original vinyl, and there's nowt snobby about me....except when they play a boot of something I was planning to....
  10. Absolutely agree Mark, unfortunately it seems that some of the original ethics are overlooked by virtue of them being outdated
  11. Unfortunately, and irrespectively of the fact that both these tunes I heard when saying final farewells to two good soul buddies, they both seem to take on different "guises"when I hear them now compared to before hand for obvious reasons.... I have no choice- Johnnie Mae Matthews When you lose the one you love- Buddy Smith.............oh yeah and can echo the sentiment of Wulfie re Tobi Legend...............gotta go
  12. Sorry, only joking and not meant to undermine your thread in any way, but I'll refrain from posting mine for the time being for fear of deserved vitriolic response
  13. Don't tell me mrs soul, but the latter is due to you keep on kicking the poor lad out!
  14. 10 to 12 weeks by boat, seriously I'd sack the oarsmen
  15. Agree with previous sentiments, keep the vinyl coming Ady......
  16. Very sad news, used to travel up most Saturdays on the coach with Yogi and the Blackwood crew to the Casino back in the 70's, saw him a few times at the 100 club, and at Crickhowell more recently, can't believe it....... RIP buddy....
  17. All this talk of Ipods and MP3's is giving me a complex, I've just about mastered the CD player in the car FFS
  18. I collect bits from several sub-genres but I am particularly partial to uptempo 60's ......particularly the stuff I haven't heard before

Yep I've had them several times over the past month or so, and ignored them apart from when I saw it linked to "karen" via soul galore etc. etc. and am now being bombarded with spam from all quarters, and I am your original Luddite, would appreciate any help in eradicating the problem
  20. Steve if you're wearing that get-up you've got on in your avatar, I'll definitely steer clear of the modern room tomorrow at soulfusion
  21. I never intentionally duplicate records apart from upgrading condition-wise, but I must admit in recent weeks have seen items listed in Soul Source Sales and have led myself to believe that I either "don't know it" or "definitely haven't got it", so have bought them, only to already own one....
  22. I'm now on my 4th collection, for my sins having had to sell the previous accumulations for varying reasons inclusive of the steel strike (late 70's) to the latter domestic indifferences (2000) when I vowed never to collect again! I kept a token bundle of Motown pieces, just for the sake/keepsake........but I got the fertilizer bug again and the bundle grew and grew......Yep the mini LP's, acetates etc. just so I could keep trawling through the old record boxes at varying haunts. It soon became the numbers game, and as the wants lists grew smaller I branched out into the subsidiaries, which also got to the numbers thing, so decided to do all the labels swallowed up by the Mighty Motown Machine, you know the Ric-Tic/Golden World stuff, then the Revilot's and Wingates, then I realised that a lot of the subsidiaries in particular also released dirge, so it proved to be somewhat of a wake-up call, and whilst quite a lot of the pieces I'd been hoarding weren't valuable as such, trainspotting was never something I could see the point of, so apart from the main Motown collection.... errm and perhaps a few worthwhile collectable labels, the numbers game has been curtailed, duplicates (i.e. issues and demos) apart from the odd one or two are now a thing of the past, unless I duplicate through unawares, and I do......I just collect Detroit now, oh and anything produced there, so please don't mention Philadelphia, Chicago, New York etc. etc. my tunnel vision glasses are still working .......it's just my ears giving me jip
  23. Has anyone got a nice clean copy of Lee Rogers-Same things that make you laugh make you cry- Wheelsville (issue or demo) cheers wilxy
  24. TammiTerrell, beauty personified both physically and vocally, but gone far too soon
