  1. I'm pleased to say I've managed to chalk off a couple more pied piper productions pieces at opposite ends of the "scarcity" scale, firstly with a Metros -Sweetest one on a dark red RCA promo? with the other being Lorraine Chandler- What can I do albeit on Giant, Happy days
  2. Thanx guys,I'd got a rough idea through John Manship's guide but being a lazy so & so, on times wanted a "second opinion" Eddie Hubbards article in There's That Beat is superb, and being personally a primarily Detroit collector, just got a hankering for several of the pieces, I don't own, I guess however patience is a virtue unless my numbers come up tonight Will tune in on Sunday to the show Mark albeit I will be at work, but nevertheless looking forward to it. cheers for the response wilxy
  3. Could anyone enlighten me as to an idea of the prices with regard to the RCA released Pied Piper Produced items , such as Willie Kendrick, Metros, Lorraine Chandler, Michael & Raymond etc. etc. Thanx wilxy
  4. Sorry in advance if slightly off topic, but I'm desperately looking to replace my "hoard" of Detroit City Limits fanzines produced by Graham Anthony "way back", so if anybody could point me in the right direction, I am looking to purchase the whole set if possible, but individual issues would suffice in the short term. thanx for looking Wilxy
  5. I was there with a few fellow South Walians, brilliant times
  6. I know where you're both coming from with the promotion / relegation issues, but the awkward thing remains the transfer costs.....although I suppose with the transfer window being closed, we'll have to rely on new discoveries
  7. Now I don't think I dreamt this, but a point pertinent to the latter paragraph, and albeit not a direct response track as such, the Four Tops-Same old song was in itself a reference in kind to the previous release I can't help myself. Basically referring to your opening line in the last paragraph, it does ask the question, but I suppose it was a case of striking whilst the iron's hot from Motown's perspective...and it worked well for them, and as we all know ......the rest is history.....interesting thread by the way
  8. Not if you take into account the 3 minutes to put his boots back on

Saw Sam Dees on a couple of occasions, at both Southport weekender and was introduced to him by Rod Dearlove at the Canal Tavern Thorne, absolutely superb, was later to realise the significance of the lyrics to the heart wrenching "After all".....and at such a miserable stage in one's life think at that time, it was a song written for me personally

Now come off it Pete, we know you can iron 45's......but cook 'em is a bit too much of a boast
  11. I think I may still have some original tapes Rod did for me back in the Thorne days, and I certainly have a few CD,s , will pm you when I get home midweek Alan
  12. Spot on Sean, and particularly with reference to Rod Dearlove breaking the mould, spent a few Great nights at the Canal Tavern.....seems like yesterday, and with regard to many of the great tunes, played by Rod himself, which were very innovative at the time in my opinion, a lot of which have become accepted generally nowadays and rightly so

Yeah agree, actually bought one Saturday night (at Soulfusion Gloucester), and played it for the first time yesterday, looks mint but sounds like he's singing in the bathroom with the door shut!!! The sound quality sounds similar to some of the Mutt recordings......must have used the same bathroom
