  1. Willie Tee 'I'm having so much fun' Gatur vg++ £800 SOLD Serious rarity that hardly ever comes to the surface, some very light marks, but plays loud and clear. 'First taste' on the flip. Freddie South ' Set me free to love my woman' King David vg+ £ 800 Superb northern/crossover this side brilliant deep soul on the flip. A few light marks but plays great. Wee 'Try me' Owl vg+ £750 SOLD Classic from 75. This plays excellent. A rare 45 in this nick. These would all be graded EX+ ON MOST UK LISTS PM TO RESERVE FULL REFUND IF NOT HAPPY Andy
  2. Many thanks for the sound file. Not what I expected really, however there is that kinda bossa nova feel which was infact similar to the the flip of the Blue Rock 45 ' Checkin out', although a bit more prominent on this track. my illusions of a soulfull ballad have been quashed. Thanks Again Andy
  3. I assume the flip ' Never gonna let her change' was slow?
  4. I've never seen one either Andy, just happened to look at the Smash discography and there it was. As you know the A side 'Hey girl' came on Blue Rock, infact I sold one on here a few weeks back, But the flip side on this Smash release is a different title. It Would also be interesting to know if there is any unreleased material with their brief stint with Gordy.
  5. Ok Mike, thanks for your help.
  6. Just wondering if any one on here has a sound file for the Festivals 'Not gonna let her' on Smash(2196), Also any info on the group Price exchange Smash(2263), Last 45 on the logo? Excellent deep soul with 'Good love gone bad'. I do have this in my collection, but any info appreciated. Andy
  7. Sorry, but it's real conviction and depth of feeling on the Hamilton Movement, sounds like the landlady pissed on boxing day with this one. Had it been Gwen Mccrae or a lady of similar ability then things may have been different enough to take notice.
  8. Rick Eddie Cornelius did cut the record for his 1982 LP 'For you' on the Audiograph logo along with some other covers from his period in the group, the cover of 'I'll never be alone any more' is rather nice. IMO a good neglected item for the period. however you may already be aware of this one. Andy
  9. Just to clarify, the ' love on loan' track first came to our attention on Ace records from 1996, hence Dave's mention of it being spun around 97. However the Tapna release was 2002, so usuming if this did appear on vinyl on Tapna it is likely to have been pressed around the same time, hense me saying it was fifteen years old. IMO just the kind of thing that would be welcome to recieve a 7" release from one of the legit re-issue or first time on 7" logo's.
  10. The Pat Brown came out fifteen years ago not four, unless you are refering to a vinyl release from four years ago I was unaware of and missed. great choice Dave. Andy
  11. The last track was on 45, flip to 'I could write a love song' which came out twice.
  12. I hope all goes to plan, as i'm sure it will. Best Andy
  13. If the release number data is in true numerical order then the release with 'My first love' came first, as this is 330b. The release with 'Come be my lady' is 451a. So 'Stone crush on you' was in fact the b side on that release. However there was never 120 different releases in between that period, so maybe the numbers mean very little. My copy came from soul bowl as a new release for £3.50, this was purchased on the back of hearing Robbie Vincent play 'Come be my lady' on his sunday night show on radio 1. For me one of the best huanting soul ballads of the period.
  14. I also agree, however the birth of soul could not have been possible from nothing to a 100% purity in one magic recording. It could of only slowly evolved, taking various elements from rhythm and blues, gospel, jazz, folk, classical etc. In my opinion 'I got a woman' most definatly has elements of soul, but not enough to cross the line from rhythm and blues. Tracks like 'Dreams' 'Little angel' and 'Think about you' from the new David hooper vinyl LP would make a much better topic than this old chestnut. Pure soul to these ears.
  15. I was possibly thinking of letting this one go. Some thoughts or input on current price appreciated. Andy
  16. As I previously mentioned, excellent stuff with many facts I was not aware of. Just felt it was a tad unfair, as in my opinion Rudy Love has somewhat more talent than Mr Jay! and I agree about the wig, he has more than enough respect from soul fans to need one of them.
  17. Ok, just thought it may confuse others who did not actually know. The posts are for the use and benefit of folks reading the thread not the person who compiled it.
  18. Excellent stuff, Rudy Love's name just needs to be edited out of the stills and draged over the fellow below, as that fellow at the top is Norman Jay.
  19. Yes it is the tip of the iceberg, as he sang lead on most of Black Ivory's hits, and for all the 45 collectors several of the 80's things he was involved with did in fact get released on that format, 'I know you will' 'You got something special' Inner Life's 'No way' (a personal fave) Intrigue's 'Fly girl' the list could go on. A top talent within that field. Andy
  20. Thanks for the thumbs up, which has given me the nudge regarding what was spun in my set. 22. Not all the artists on these shows are listed in the clip. The Modulations is one of them, along with the exellent Invitations fronted by Lew Kirton of which is in the Video only. Lucky to have had access to these before. Many of the artists will be seen for the first time. So fill your boots. Great post shelly 74.
  23. Think that was the copy I noticed on Blacknight records late 80's, not Soul bowl. Andy
  24. This sounds like the most sensible way it should be looked at, not only by both parties involved, but also by the royal mail. It would seem both logical and fair that the amount the royal mail pays out is what the customer has paid for it (with reasonable proof). How on earth can they justify paying out what the previous person( the seller) paid for it, as stated previous it could be forty years ago. After all, if it was something that depreciated in value they are highly unlikely to pay what you paid for it when new. Probably got some smart arse in the claims department who is on bonus for reducing claims. Unfotunatly he's talking out of his arse.
