  1. It's a 1981 release, fairly average IMO to be honest, much better releases from that time in a similar style such as Al Campbell or Junior English for instance (lots of releases from both mainly on 12 and LP) Cheers Sutty
  2. used to run a night many years back where the entire floor was cobbled apart from a single paving slab in the middle. that was a real quality do I can tell you as it was also freezing cold. yet people came! cheers Sutty
  3. I only found out very recently that when you hand the package over the counter you're paying the Post Office. They are responsible for the tracking, but they hand the package to the Royal Mail who are then responsible for delivering it and obtaining a signature. If they don't and something goes missing, it then takes 3-5 days before the Royal Mail signature goes through the system back to the Post Office. So when you call the number for your lost package, they don't know anything about it for almost a week, and when they do, they have no contact with the Royal Mail. I had 4 packages go missing at once and one was signed for. It was signed for, but not by me. Post Office didn't want to know, Royal Mail sorting office didn't want to know. In the end my own postie searched the sorting office and found my packages and brought them round when he finished his shift. Turns out the temp postie had got someone to sign for my package and handed them their correct one, then dumped all my packages in a corner of the sorting office unfiled. Apart from that stroke of luck i'd probably never have seen them. System is a shambles. cheers Sutty
  4. Simple. It's your postman at fault. If it's a signed for package, they should get a signature or leave a card. That's it. Catch your postman and ask him to do that or complain. cheers Sutty
  5. I just bought the book and downloads on ebay for £15 (bargain!). The sound quality is superb, 320k MP3's, not a hint of background noise so they're either exceptionally well mastered or from master tapes. I fail to see what the fuss is about releasing most of this music with northern fans, the vast majority is straight up funk or sweet sounds. I don't recognise a single credit in the book as being anyone associated with the northern scene, it's not sourced or aimed at the northern scene? cheers Sutty
  6. no problem, only don't click on the 'banging the bang' comp unless you want to spit your tea all over your keyboard. The other Owen Gray is up there too, I forgot about that stuff so thanks for reminding me, cheers Sutty
  7. It simply warms my heart to think of the aurally impaired making an effort to try and listen to music., it's an example to us all. So, let's see Heaven is 10 zillion light years away Creepin Bird of beauty Please don't go Try again and turn up the hearing aid this time

That websites pretty 'eh?' 2 'northern soul originals' for sale and ones a Lisa Stansfield reissue lol 'Keeping the faith since 2004'...
  9. I'd have snapped way earlier, guys got no morals or intelligence it seems. Face up and be a man Brian, or do what Pete's already suggested, you are damaging someone's reputation through your actions, selling records puts the food in his family's mouth. Disgraceful, and certainly not 'soulful'
  10. Pete, the problem with arguing with an idiot is that they're too stupid to know they've lost the argument. Thanks for alerting us to this clown so we can all avoid dealing with him.
  11. Don't think that will be too hard at all Pete!
  12. £200 is about right Pete, but you might get more even now, cheers Sutty
  13. Looking for a copy of this 45 if anyone can help, demo or issue and as long as it's playable and sounds ok I don't mind what it looks like thanks Sutty

What criteria is involved in a record sounding like its rare or worth a few grand? what's the giveaway?
  15. LTJ-EXPERIENCE extended version 12" from 2003 on Irma is pretty top notch too Cheers Sutty
  16. Are you lot on something? There's no way that the Elektra version is better than the Cadet version! Lol

You want this one https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=385317&ev=rb cheers Sutty
  18. You stop listening when you start to believe you're a DJ instead of someone who plays music out as a hobby, and it becomes more important to be DJing than listening. Something I realised a long time ago thankfully
  19. I saw her a few years back, she was rough as old boots for the 1st 30 minutes, struggling to find her voice, then started to sing like an angel again for the rest of the show, which was fantastic, cheers Sutty
  20. so reading back there's 3 at least chanson - no backing connowil - rawer version with backing 'fresh start' lp - assume its the same as connowil 45 from the soundclip on youtube then after these timeless lp - smoother version with backing ? cheers Sutty
  21. I have the timeless lp and the connowil 45, they are completely different recordings. Not heard the chanson version unless its one of these, but both versions I have have backing singers on, but not the same ones! the album is smoother and sounds like a later production, they're both on youtube to compare. much prefer the 45 version personally The 'fresh start' lp is £££ i believe, assume thats probably the connowil take, but guessing cheers Sutty
  22. Cue all the Jolynn Murray white labels disappearing off the internet and loads of people going 'why have I bought an instrumental record with sax all over it and no vocals, where's Jolynn Murray' - that's what happened at the time. Derek Jack could spot the 'right' copy from about 20 feet lol
  23. I think you're more likely to find a copy of the Italian 12 in Barnsley than Italy or Japan (seriously). For me it was a record of its time, its a nice record but I've always thought some of the UK white labels I caned at the time were much better, like Wookie ' runaway' and Jolynn Murray 'wrapped up' but they just didn't generally take off in the same way for some reason, but they were still as popular when played out on a night. Credit for finding black box must always go to Mark Randell from Southampton, I just played it on the scene which he wasn't part of as far as DJing I'm afraid the Jap 12 is a 2nd press Cheers Sutty

nice use of the wasabee b-side cover of 'on a clear day' in the last series of Breaking Bad. never understood the fascination with the mario bondi later version of 'this is what you are', its totally lame compared to wasabee IMHO. but then again, I fail to see the fascination with mario bondi full stop lol cheers Sutty
