Wee Willie Walker - I Don't Want To Take A Chance
I've got a mint copy of the album from 1977 'goldwax collection vol 2' on vivid sound Japan I might be persuaded to part with, which is the OVO way of getting it rather than the much later 45 issue (lol) p.s. how you doing long time no see m8

Rare Soul Collecting In 50 Years Time - Is This The Future?
In 10 years time, everyone in an event has their iphone connected to the free wifi and can vote via an app on the music being played right now. This info is stored in a cloud database with a pinpoint to the location, and an algorithm is used to relate the music being played in relation to the rest of the music that evening based on popularity, building up a global cloud-based database built over time and ever-expanding. The central reporting point of the app will be able to use another algorithm to predict the next tune in the same style that fits best for the crowd in the event and activate the music selection in the location, thus providing the maximum enjoyment for the crowd. The DJ is the crowd, and the work is done by all the crowds around the world, so all the provider of the database has to do is come up with a new algorithm for any new music style that evolves. This of course is the stuff of fiction, but only because the device will be more advanced than an iphone, the 'database' will be a series of interlinked cloud-based personal databases that are shared amongst millions of users, and it will probably happen within 3 or 4 years. Meanwhile, back at the local town hall, Mick's still haggling with the local record dealer over that rare Detroit acetate...

The Next Generation
as a general rule i'd see it as more that (rightly) teenagers don't want to hang around with a bunch of 50-year olds+ on a night out, they won't be able to afford to buy the OG vinyl they hear generally so will simply d/l the tracks they like and play it amongst their mates off their laptop or ipod. you can quote a few exceptions that might run the odd night, but how many of their age group in attendance actually care that they're playing their 45's, they just like the music. a few may buy into the mystique of the ns/rare soul scene but it won't be many, it's not possible unless they're loaded! and old people at a night out = bunch of old farts to most teens!

Rare Soul Collecting In 50 Years Time - Is This The Future?
50 years Ian? try 5 i'd say if not less, cloud storage and access is already here and will be the norm before we know it - Steve Jobs will make it the next trendy thing for his apple users and the rest will follow, it's one of their big pushes in the immediate future, win the hearts and minds of the people and they'll go along with it for the speed and convenience. Whether the rare soul vinyl scene will follow, i'd say very doubtful in the immediate future, after all you have people that still refuse to play lp only tracks off the original lp! but it's here and it's gonna happen fast IMO. Who would have dreamt the stuff of the iphone/ipad a few years back, I remember them showing the 'pinch and drag' screen on a coffee table demo on youtube before the iphone came out and it seemed like an amazing sci-fi future. It was the norm within a year. Read this book yet? it was written 31 years ago but it's still relevant and a lot of the predictions are here and now, can be a bit dry in places though! we are living in the third wave. cheers Sutty

Just Won Flowers "we Can Make It Happen" On Lax For .99P On Ebay! Then It All Went Wrong
fair enough comments, I agree, but did he ever lie or keep the money? appears not.

Just Won Flowers "we Can Make It Happen" On Lax For .99P On Ebay! Then It All Went Wrong
At least his daughters have got a nice holiday from him selling his record collection, so something good has come from a pretty sad debacle really - and he's not my friend at all, don't know him, just done some good business (as have quite a lot of others) with a guy who is very inexperienced in dealing with selling on the internet. It seems to me that his crime was simply ignorance, never spite, and that it became a battle for revenge more than anything, trying to destroy someone's reputation over 99p plus post, something i'll never understand. cheers Sutty

Michael Wycoff- Current Value Please
the 12" was booted as a white RCA demo, it's good quality but it's easy to spot, you can hear someone putting the needle on the record at the start! cheers Sutty

Just Won Flowers "we Can Make It Happen" On Lax For .99P On Ebay! Then It All Went Wrong
Seems to me the hunger for getting something for about 100 times less than the going rate is clouding the objectivity of a new seller getting to grips with systems he's never used before. Hope you work something out for both of your benefits, must be very frustrating not to get bargain of the year cheers Sutty

Just Won Flowers "we Can Make It Happen" On Lax For .99P On Ebay! Then It All Went Wrong
I've just bought a load of stuff from Dave, he's selling his collection at very good prices, he's an upstanding guy it seems to me and it's probably a genuine mistake as he wasn't clued up on paypal so offered advice so he could receive payments. The money is going to his daughters, so although you may seem a little peeved, I think calling him an arsehole is way out of line and i'm sure a more reasonable approach would sort things out. Let's face it, you know 99p is ridiculously cheap and you were prepared to go to £50 so give the guy a break and you both may get a good deal out of it IMO some of his sales left outside ebay Dave's Sales on EMS cheers Sutty

Did Levi Lead Sing On All The 4 Tops Songs

Beres Hammond Lp, 2Nd 100 Club Anniv. 45, And More
the deck on the vid with the cat? looks like a vestax, i've got one in the front room. My technics packed up on one channel so I bought the vestax to replace it, but then Teee kindly fixed my technics for the record room. Hardly ever use the vestax, when you're back over if you really want one you can come over and check it out and we can sort something out if you like, it's gathering dust to be honest - cant compete with the telly in there lol cheers Paul

Beres Hammond Value Please
Rocky One is a late reissue, shouldn't be going for very much at all unless the ethic of playing originals doesn't count any more? lol Seriously though, that reissue is not rare at all i've had at least 10 sealed copies go through my hands over the last few years and i'm not even actively looking for it. cheers Sutty

Allnighter Question
i'm surprised at the general rejection of this, as Russ says it's not that long ago that a 1.30am start was perfectly normal at the 100 club for a start, nobody even considered it an issue to stay up all night? it is after all, al nighter we're talking about here. I see more and more 'nighters' advertised at finishing at 4am, and some even call them 'mini-nighters' (wtf?)... which is all b-s if you ask me on the promoters part - it's a soul night. however from a 'go-er' point of view there's been a major change with the new licensing laws in the recent past where bars can open much later/all-night and serve alcohol, and with the general decline on late night venues caused by late night licenses, particularly where I live on the south coast - meaning 'why am I going to pay to go to stay up all night when I can do it all in a bar for free' - I can't see a venue owner wanting to bother opening up all night to sell soft drinks. So, IMO, it's a tough hill to climb Russ, not just to convince people to come along, but to find a venue owner willing to go along with the idea in the 1st place. But it's certainly not a strange idea, it wasn't that long ago it was the norm wasn't it? and we had good times, didn't we? I know we did! you back over soon? hope to catch up and love to the family! cheers Paul

A Wee Puzzler
100% bootleg for the breaks crowd, i have one of these sitting around somewhere, it was sold in the independent shops at the time, probably just pressed 1000 or something. Certain it's a UK press as all the rest of the boots at the time were like the numerous funk/breaks white label comps with stickers on. value - a fiver. good pressing though! cheers Sutty

Where Are The Northern Soul Deserts
there was a volks last summer, usual story though. 100 people there in the afternoon, all the mods clear off home for their tea about 6, leaving about 10 people, and the place got shut at 10. The main reason nobody does anything in Brighton is everybody wants another do then NOBODY BOTHERS TURNING UP, I gave up on this town years ago
