  1. I have been subscribing to spotify for years and I am amazed at the fantastic 60's/70's soul music available. I use Sonos and link all my music together, including all the music I've ever bought off Amazon through their streaming facilty. I also use the android app on my phone so I can listen to it all in my car or out walking the dog. Ive never had it so good and still buy vinyl. My 19 year old daughter has finally got into proper soul music and so has started following me and sharing my playlists through spotify. Students only pay £4.99. Kev
  2. Here you go https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-Northern-Soul-Demo-The-Casanova-Two-We-Got-To-Keep-On-Early-Bird-Demo-/322087709999?hash=item4afdec6d2f:g:6nAAAOSwYmZXH5bP
  3. If I were cynical, I might even say that the putting " I AM SELLING ALL THESE RECORDS FOR A FRIEND WHOSE RELATIVE HAS DIED. HE WANTS THEM ALL TO BE AUCTIONED" in the description is a bit like saying, "Ooh look I found these and I have no idea what they are", so I'm off the hook.
  4. This is one of his finest moments for me. Writer and producer of such a moving song. RIP
  5. Odds & Ends on Today ?
  6. Mike and Ike
  7. Thousands of us danced away to Epitome of Sound in the 70's, speeded up as Moses Smith, but not that much that it put me off the original. Kev
  8. I have a similar looking copy but with "Big Brother" as the other side, not the instrumental. I always thought it to be a boot. I've had it since the 70's. Nothing stamped in the run out, just scratched. Was this booted twice? Kev
  9. The crossover period that people are referring to is always going to be vague, because artists didn't just stop making one kind of music overnight and start making another. Little nuances in recording techniques or instruments become popular and so get adopted by others. Remember that awful syndrum that Anita Ward had in "Ring my Bell". I've no idea who did it first but it got pretty annoying after a while. In much the same way as Victorian Architecture (1837-1901) merges into Edwardian (1901-1910/14). In 1901 they didn't just stop one style of house overnight, so you have to use the date produced as the benchmark. Kev
  10. I've been buying soul music since 1969 and I couldn't care less what label people choose to give it. It's soul music!. Ask any soul artist what crossover is and they will say music that crossed over into the pop charts. I'll get me coat. Kev
  11. Is also featured along with Do the Mess Around & Love Pains on the BBC Radioplay Music Library album "Forever My Love" along with tracks from Jimmy & David Ruffin Kev
  12. My copy of the Lollipops - "Cheating is telling on you", was a demo in the same format as this Chris Clark, even though there are white demo versions. The Lollipops hasn't been booted as far as I know? Still I agree with you over the instrumental being on the flip, it is usually the same both sides. Also the Lollipops has two different fonts for the artist and title
  13. https://www.popsike.com/CHRIS-CLARK-Loves-Gone-MAD-Bad-66-DJ-MISPRINT-soul-MOTOWN-VIP-northern-45/141222563204.html Found this on Popsike Kev
  14. This probably isn't it, but The Dramatics - "Whatcha see is watcha get" has the brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and the Watcha in it. Kev
  15. For some people the definition of mixed emotions will either be:- A) Seeing your mother -in-law driving off a cliff in your new car or B) Patti Austin singing "More today than yesterday in a jazzy style
  16. One of my favourite Morrisey Mullen tracks from their Cape Wrath album "Bristol Boogie" with some great drumming and a great sax break that lasts for a good minute starting at 2.28 Also worth checking out the Max Middleton & Robert Ahwai album of around the same time on the same label Kev
  17. I first heard this on Richard Searling's radio show and ended up writing in to the show because he didn't announce who it was. It just blew me away, fantastic vocals....my kind of jazz, but so soulful..Nice. I bought the album on Esoteric Records............ Anyone got any background on her? Kev
  18. Just wondered what people's opinion was on this. It appears to be Jimmy Wisner and has a bit of a "Wade in the water" feel about it. Still jazz in my book. Kev
  19. Would be great if there was a separate section for jazz/jazz fusion. I have to confess I don't even differentiate between soul music and the likes of Bob James, Ramsey Lewis, Nancy Wilson, David Sanborn, Dave Grusin, Ralph McDonald, Morrisey Mullen, Richard Tee, Bob Baldwin.....the list goes on Kev
  20. New to me too, excellent track. Thanks Kev Kev
  21. Probably should have said, they have used the same backing track, when they don't always. Probably some pillow talk going on at All Platinum Kev
  22. Sweet Sweet Lady is my favourite, although I do like Look at me I'm in Love with the French Version on the flip and "Love on a two way street" with this on the flip on UK London. Seems to be the same backing track as Lezli Valentine Kev
