  1. Not been able to listen to any of the CD's yet. But the vibe is good, so looks as if I have a treat or two in store! Hope to have mine done before the weekend. Can't get to my LP's right now, so looks like being 45's only. Thanks for being patient, all. (Especially you, Kirsty - A late Birfdi pressie comin' up soon!). Sean
  2. Yet I'd have guessed it was the other way around. The "I Want To Give You My Everything" side being the US 'hit' side (Mercury 73080) ... flipped soon after, in the UK, after UK club action on the "Sweet Happiness" side. Nice double sider either way! Sean
  3. When I was a lad I saw Roy C there (he sang 'Shotgun Wedding' three times) and the Drifters (think it was the Invitations really ) around 70 / 71. I seem to recall that Billy Stewart had once appeared there (but a year or two before my time). Legendary venue around my part of the world and happy, but distant, memories. Sean
  4. You're right Roger. Soon as I heard the line "I Messed Up" I jumped on that track, but you're dead right mate, that aint it! Sean
  5. I have the UK issue (Not for sale) but beware of lookalike Black / Silver Parlophone 'centreless' Bootlegs in your quest. Sean
  6. Boo! Pity that Sebastian - Sounds like it could be him to me. Am sure I know this. Won't be able to get to my records / CD's for a few days. Looks of this thread, its an indemander in the making! No bad thing for a Southern tune! Sean
  7. If my memory serves me right - I'd need to check to verify 100% - this could be J Blackfoot "I Messed Up" from the mid 90's 'Reality' CD. Don't think it got a vinyl release. Just back from Memphis (where this will have been recorded - of course) or I'd have seen the thread sooner! I'll have a dig through before the weekend - once I'm over the Jet Lag - to clarify! Cheers Sean

Thank you. I love it too and would urge everyone on SS to obtain a copy. IMO - She the lady! Sean

I have (or have had) BOTH Prince Ellis 45's on Ellis. "Love Can Make Your Mind Go Wild" being my favourite, a nice and lazy Caribbean kinda thing, the other 45 "I'm Gonna Love You" a pretty nifty Crossoverish dancer! Need to check the collection, but I think LCMYMGW went some years ago. Sean
  10. Mouth Watering, Paul! Sean
  11. In that case, try TATS (Foolish Fool on here). He has a copy and just may sell if you ask him reeeeeeeeal nice! If he don't reply, it's cos he' away for a while, after tomorrow. Sean

Really? Better than a Johnny Nelson Rematch?
  13. Richard Broughton - certainly had some records that lad! BIG collector from Nottingham back in the day. Not seen him for a few years but always a pleasure when I do. Top guy, despite his etching habit - (didn't we all used to do it). Sean
  14. I have a Dutch Chubby Checker "At the Discotheque" in Orange & Black with 'that' face on it, Sebastian. They've obviously totally 'redrawn' the label artwork in Europe and the artist has taken a bit of 'creative license' with his interpretation! I reckon it's a Dutch Post Impressionist, most probably a Van Gogh. As you can see, he's cut the young lasses ear off!
  15. Thanks Martin. Excellent plug for the Millie Jackson CD. Certainly Millie is one of THE great voices in Soul Music and it was felt that this compilation was long overdue, particularly as Millie is so highly regarded for her 'deeper' works and her 'Dancefloor' material virtually ignored in comparison. I've said it before on here, but... Every home should have one! Cheers Sean
  16. Previously unreleased track only available on the Kent "Let's Crossover Again" CD, Martin. Sean
  17. Triffic flipside on this 45 in "What You Gonna Do" an old PITCHES fave of mine! Topside aint bad either - Very Martha Reeves! Sean
  18. Hi Roger, Note the Orange (orig) label is MTU/Watts City The Blue copy just says Watts City. Sean
  19. Sam's old 'Fantastic Puzzles' cover up (if my memory serves me right). I got in touch with the label owner at the time it was first uncovered (early 80's). He sent me about 20 copies (all orange) and one copy of the Bill Williams (of Bileo) "Things Will Be Better Tomorrow" track which I played at Cleggy. I reckon that's quite a bit scarcer than Bileo, which I'm shocked to see going for over a ton! Sean
  20. A tragedy is a tragedy regardless of who it happens to. But we are Soul Music fans - and when tragedy befalls those artists who were responsible for the creation of the music we love we have a right to wish them well and feel that they might well have deserved better - especially in a world where minor talent is, so often, amply rewarded. I feel that anyone who wouldn't mourn for the sad life and death of James Carr (for example) just wouldn't really be able to appreciate his genius. Sean
  21. Yeh... funny who you meet while you're out Shoplifting innit!

Hi Ian, Jaibi Issue £100+ Mint Jaibi Demo £80+ Mint One of the top 10 greatest records in ther history of the universe (IMO). Sean
  23. Great stuff Ian, I hope you didn't leave the store without a copy! I won't be happy 'til they've sold the lot! Every home should have one. Sean
  24. Hi Pat, Peabody's strictly for the Birds mate! We've opted for something a little more 'earthy' - The Real Memphis downtown...Residence Inn. Sean
