  1. If the winners outside the US, it'll probably be cheaper to get on a plane to Chicago, collect it in person and then get the next plane back home.
  2. Theres another thing you have to take into account that I found in HMRC documentation. Even if its marked as a gift, but they believe it was a commercial transaction rather than a "true gift" you can still get hit with duty payments. I got hit when a package had gift and was under the cost threshold. To get the money back you have to prove that no payment was made by you or anyone on your behalf. So if the seller puts on some form of stamp stating their trading name that could give the game away
  3. Velvet Hammer, wasn't even minty fresh and by the soundclip on the website I would have said that the grading of EX+ was pushing it a bit too. Anyone wanna buy a minter for £600, comes in a TK paper and high grade card sleeves, with the record details neatly written on it
  4. Whatever you think about Soul City releases, Dave Godin and its history in the "scene". Over £400 is a lot for what's technically a bootleg, is it the fact its on Soul City that makes this more desireable that other bootlegs pressed at the time?
  5. Gareth, give to Mr Manship, I'm sure your get an eye watering amount, even after his commission
  6. I'm looking for a copy of Bobby Thurston - This Can't Be Happening To Me - Mainline DM 4589, Looking for EX+ or better, but may consider others depending on the condition. PM me with your fixed price and the condition of the record, please no requests for offers.
  7. I stand corrected. Yes, a, brain cells now working. Charles and Ivory and Cletus Marland (different design, same numbering sequence) being a couple of them.
  8. I looked at this when I got a copy of this a few years ago and realised the other side was also done by Betty Bibbs on GeNEVA (Detroit address). As Steve said; although it states NYC, I believe this release is linked to Ernest Kelly's Detroit "addressed" label of the same name and there are no other (to my knowledge) Geneva NYC releases. This release has heavy involvement by Kelley; writing and production and I don't believe he had any strong links to Chicago (boba or Robbk, any input would be greatly appreciated). This view seems to be supported by the Grapevine CD "Kelley's Soul Heroes" which includes both the Willie Collins and Betty Bibbs tracks. There is the possibility that John Ridley made a mistake when writing the review on Yoni Neeman's web site. I too don't think this was booted with the differences due to different pressing plants.
  9. There have been some great comments in previous posts and G&W and R&W UK demos are a real thing of beauty. But the most compelling reason not to collect British TMG and other releases is that they don't fit on your thumb. ;)
  10. Your auction goes on for 5 months, that might be a bit too long for a lot of people
  11. they are indeed
  12. Nooooooooo, Darrow Fletcher that's just wrong, it should never be that price.
  13. Oh, this has been my top want since I got Willie Johnson a while back. Got outbid a few years ago on ebay and did some investigating on the winner thinking about making them an offer. Pretty sure the winners old address used to be a PO box number in Kings Lynn
  14. Is there a difference between the Sue and the Parlophone releases?
  15. Thats Recipe For Peace, this one was released circa 72/73
  16. Get the LP as it's probably cheaper & you get 10 additional tacks
  17. The same can be said for Darrow Fletchers issue of Rising Cost of Love. It's a a tricky record to get on issue, but I wouldnt have thought an auction item.
  18. Had a lovely issue, cued it up on deck and bang screwed the intro with needle burn. Sold it and haven't got one back yet.
  19. I actually think musically, Wounded Woman is a better song
  20. There are two different looking original pressings one vinyl and one styrene maybe thats why people think it's been reissued
  21. The Hogs got a US release as well
  22. It didn’t turn up that often, but when it did it always sold for a pittance as I suppose it was “under the radar” compared to Kiss My Love Goodbye. It seems to have got more interest when an extended remix surfaced on Mixcloud (or whatever it was...) and then it was included on that Tom Moulton extended Remix CD set. Also came out on Jamaican Atlantic too.
  23. I was just thinking that. So because it’s on 7", people want to charge an extortionate amount. Surely this will be poo poo’d by the OVO brigade, so won’t be played there. These are original LP tracks (looking at the length of it Rock Me Again It’s the LP version), so if it’s played at a “handbag” event, surely there no kudos on playing it on 7” there either.
  24. That's the sort of price it went for about 10/12 years ago and would have thought thats a bit too high these days, would have thought more along the lines of £200-250
  25. From a reissue perspective I've only seen a picture on Jason's site. The text on reissue looks to be slightly bolder than the original, but the thing that sticks out to me is the ref number on the Left hand side. On the original its on the Mad Mouth Woman Side its (UR-234-A) and Wohoo its (UR-234-B). On the reissue it looks like the Mad Mouth Woman side has (UR 234-B), so they've switched the plate numbers around
