Most common doubles and easy-to-find records (1973)
Ooh, I'd forgotten the Kim Westons.
-
First northern / rare soul scene reissue
Doris Troy "I'll Do Anything" on Toast, Sep 1968 according to Discogs. I'll bet there's earlier examples though.

Most common doubles and easy-to-find records (1973)
Yes Eddie, I think it was common across the land, much like Spyder Turner.

The Performers - Mirwood, I can't stop you
It's just pressed with the wrong label, an error by the orerator. These things often happen, most get picked up but some escape and there are countless examples. In general, regardless of the title / company etc.., they would be worth less than its correctly labeled counterpart, even though they are much rarer. An error using the wrong plate (ie. different song) may be more desirable, depending on what the song was. Sure it's original though.

Most common doubles and easy-to-find records (1973)
The black UK Action issue of the Showmen seemed to be everywhere too This would be '75 so maybe a bit later than you want, but they were probably there earlier.

Authentic a stock copy Hoagy Lands / Laurie
Presumably the thread is referring to this vinyl original variation . . . I thought I was alone in this Mal, but I have always had doubts about the original vinyl issue of this. In comparison, the vimyl demo is loud and clear, whereas the vinyl issue is low volume and slightly muffled. (The muffled sound could have been the copies I have had due to condition, but volume drop would be consitent). It's okay in itself with nothing to compare it against, but (for me at least) playing one after the other opens up nagging doubts. I have mentioned it before, but I don't think anyone picked up on it. I have never seen any other vinyl issue variation (apart from the white boot), so I am not sure either way as it could be that it was pressed using a different master at the same time and place. If this is the case so be it (it does happen a lot), but I suppose without evidence it is down to opinion and gut instinct. Over the years, mainly in the 2000s I have sold the issues as reissues, just to cover myself. If I picked one up now I would still do the same.

Are many people on here NOT record collectors?
Last 10-15 years or so I've only really bought to sell on, and not really doing that now, Money is tight (for me) so just selling stuff from my own collection every now and then. For myself,, If I've bought 10 records for myself in the last 10 years that's about it.

Back Street backing track ---alternate vocal
Tina Lewis on Inferno from about 1983. A Chris King recording over the flip side of Edwin Starr. There's also Shake It by Matt Lucas from the mid 2000's using a thin recording of the orig backing track, again released on Inferno.

St Ives All-nighters around 76 - Big Sound
Yes, the Soussan copy may be the one that Dave ended up with, whilst Sams copy, through me to TB, would be a second copy. Like you, I only know of those two, but there may be others out there, probably are. Locating one could be rather hard I think.

St Ives All-nighters around 76 - Big Sound
Have a vague recollection of JM auctioning one around then, so that maybe the one Dave bought (speculation). It seems to be quite hard to find nowadays.

Yes, I'm from Wolverhampton.

St Ives All-nighters around 76 - Big Sound
I bought the Judy Hughes off Sam, probably around 78 or 79 ish. I kept it for a few years, might have DJ'd with it, although I did found it a bit bland, so it may not have had no more than one or two outings. I eventually sold it on many years later, possibly to either Guy Hennigan, or maybe it's one I kept until I sold everything much later to Richard Domar, about '86 or so. (Most of those went to Tim Brown I believe). I think Simon Soussan also had one in his collection when he sold up, but don't know who bought that.

Kent Loma box set of singles (& a CD too): pre-release
Although the soundclip is also missing, the Apollas "Silver Moon" is very good, It dates back much earlier than 2012 though. Blue Max bought an unlabelled 10 inch acetate of it from Des Parker in early 2004 (I think it was from Des). Max didn't know who the arist was or the titles, only that Des had said it was a WB related disc. However, as "Jive Cat" was on the flip, it then became apparent, they were the Apollas. I put it on a 7 inch for him. probably around 2005. (Des may have had it earlier of course). Was it you who found it Des ? @Md Records

Idle Few
Looks like the same Blue demo variation that Tim Ashibende posted a picture of about four or five months ago. Gotta be real.

Sad News Steve Whittle RIP
Oh dear, what a shame, I hadn't seen him in ages. A great loss and, as others have said, such a great person.

Unknown Artist - Show me - Restoration Project -(sorted)
I'm looking for a recent type release I heard last night. It is an Unknown Artist, called "Show Me" from the Restoration Project. I can't find any info as such, so maybe I have the info slightly wrong. It was a UK 7 inch release in a picture cover. It was a previously unreleased track, could be early seventies. It has a Green and (maybe) Black label, solid middle, with "Unknown Artist" printed as the Artist. Thanks Mick

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER ON HERE ???
I go back to about 2002/3, when it was more of a bulletin board, but when the new style site took over I think my account disappeared or some such, so had to rejoin in 2006. Never did find out what happened.
