The Records That Nobody Likes
Back around 1976, I thought Soul was all about James Brown and Funk, a mate of mine who I knew was into Northern Soul explained that it was a bit different. He played me Johnny Caswell and I thought 'WOW!' I'd never heard anything as melodic and heartfelt and I fell in love with NS from that day on. I guess, as someone said, you should try to remember the first time you heard a certain tune and how you felt about it back then.

Record Wants
I always send a message when the record arrives. I don't leave feedback as I'm not 100% sure how you do it, it's a bit complicated for my pea brain. Can someone explain the concept of leaving feedback?

'Dry My Eyes'...anyone know this version?
This is the flip of Dry My Eyes... This is the Fona release...but it doesn't have 'Dry My Eyes' on the flip.

'Dry My Eyes'...anyone know this version?
It's the same tune as by 'The Mods'. Both groups were on the 'Fona' label and this track was written by Fabulous Flippers front man Danny Hein. Could they be the same group? I've not heard this version of 'Dry My Eyes' by the Flippers and it seems quite a hard one to find, even 45cat never had it listed until I just added it. It's not in Manship's book either. I do know they were a great blue-eyed Soul outfit...

The Servicemen
Surely it's a version of Billy Butler's 'My Heart Is Hurtin'....????? In fact someone on another youtube clip is saying The Royal Imperials were Billy Butler & The Enchanters! I'm confused, different writing credits too!

few for identification originals or boots and acetates
Hi Michael, My Larry Williams, bought from Soul Bowl in the late 80's has a stick on label. I think you're right and there are 2 sorts, pretty sure that is the case with some other Okeh 45's.

Larry Williams, I wouldn't think that was booted? I'll dig my copy out and see if it's stick on label, I can't remember. Here's a link to a listed copy that looks like moulded label but the video looks like styrene stick on... https://www.45cat.com/record/47259

LP soul winter warmers
I'm a massive fan of the 'LP Only Tracks' and put together a few CDs for myself recently. Mine are more 1960's Northern though to be honest.

Jackie Trent....best version. Len Barry close second. Lovin' Spoonful better than the other lame versions, at least the Spoonful's got a bit of Soul. Disappointed in the Sonny & Cher version, thought they'd do a better job because the backing track on 'Good Combination' is great and 100% Northern.

Canny lad John, he knows when to list ðĪ- USA Northern Soul Events
David Paugh, one time lead guitarist of 'The Teardrops' (Every Step I Take - Max) has asked me about Northern Soul events in the USA. Basically he and Judy Street who he is good friends with would like to go along to some. I'm not 100% where David is located but I think it's the Fort Myers, Florida area. I told him I would put a shout out on here. So if there's any Americans who run a NS night or ex Pats please let me know of any upcoming events so I can inform David. TIA Regards John- Lord What's Happening To Your People - Extended Version

Well that's what I thought but my mate Mick thinks it is ð- Rarest Tamla Motown Lp
Yes I think that is the one he is on about, there is a row of houses on the cover. Someone in an earlier post said it's 'West Grand Bld'. In my collection.- Pictures of Us
Yes and hair! I been in contact with him recently.- Rarest Tamla Motown Lp
Had a discussion today with my mate Mick and he is saying one of the rarest LP's to have on Motown has a photo of the 'Motown House' (his words) on the cover, I'm presuming the Hitsville USA house? Anyway I cannot find a Motown (UK or otherwise) LP with this sort of cover??? Is there one in existence?
