  1. If it's OK chuffinnora I've added your images to the 45cat site: https://www.45cat.com/record/k13666 These things need to be documented and maybe someone on that site will come forward with another copy.
  2. I actually won my copy of the CD from Record Collector magazine. Result!
  3. Now that 'Big Man' records have released the Jimmy Radcliffe original and previously unreleased 'Taste's Sour Don't It' with the flip being the Barbara Jean English version (also unreleased in the 1960's) it got me thinking, how on earth did British pair Keith Powell & Billie Davis hear it? It's not a bad version, even in all it's Britishness.
  4. Well she certainly looks white? A quote on the internet: "We're Only Young Once" by Bunny Paul, one of early Motown white female singer. Released in 1963 on Gordy Records7017, also issued in Canada on Tamla Records...
  5. No one's mentioned 'Bunny Paul'. She recorded in 1963. Obviously not the first but one of the earliest.
  6. 'Funny Woman' does get better after a few episodes (basically the last 3 episodes!).
  7. Great detective work. That's cleared that up then. Nice info. Getting back to the 7 Dwarfs, I think there is no doubt in anybody's mind they stole The Rolling Stones' riff.
  8. Hello sukokia, welcome. I know a tune that the Stones may have plagiarized for 'Satisfaction', it's an R&B number by Bobby Day 'I Don't Need No Information' on 'Byrdland' from 1965. A bit about it and sound here: https://www.45cat.com/record/nc301302us
  9. 100% all day long.

Richard Searling has just stated in the latest issue of 'Blues & Soul' that Allan Scott & Al Scott (Mr.Soul) are one and the same person.
  11. Chuck Jackson?
  12. Boils my blood when these so called professional D.J's get it so wrong. I remember someone on the radio several years back playing 'The Tide Is High' by kiddie popsters 'Atomic Kitten' and informing us that 'Blondie' did the original....🤬 Anyway I digress, I guess Springsteen doing a Motown cover is no different than all those 'blue-eyed' groups that did the same thing back in the 60's.It's OK but even the woman I work with, who is not a soulie at all, said his voice doesn't suit the groove. Great backing though. My missus likes it.
  13. Another example of a UK release being different/alternate to it's USA predecessor (or in this case even it's UK predecessor!!) is the 2004 Frank Wilson release.
  14. Do you mean the Grapevine 45 is actually the Gloria Barnes LP version?
  15. Leader and guitarist was Curtis Price, a brilliant basketball player at Charleston High School. They called him 'King Curtis' (obviously not the other guy who blows a sax), hence the name King Sound Interpreters. He wrote 'You've Got Soul' and is also credited on the group's version of 'Hi Note' but that's not the case on The Fantastics 1965 version!! There's a few pieces about him on the net.
  16. Motown. Only they could produce a tune like 'Suspicion - The Originals', wonderful!

I'm not sure which 'repro' you mean? The 70's boot sounds the same cut as the original to me? I know the UK Kent release has an alternate vocal than the US 45...
  18. Not too fussed about condition as long as it plays through with no skips.

I have the red/green psychedelic sleeve on my 'orange' re-issue of 'Man Without A Woman' so 'The Yank' is spot on! The red/black white circles one in second picture I have on a foreign RCA Victor 45 but don't know if it's correct? (I can't remember which country at moment).
  20. I discussed this a year or so ago on here. To answer your question, the 'Out On The Streets' LP is the only way to get that alternate version of Jackie Lee. As far as I am aware.

Was the 'Billy Shields' (AKA Tony Orlando) version very popular?
  22. I've stopped ordering from the US. I had 2 fairly expensive ones gone missing! Both tracked. Stupidly ordered them when Covid was in full swing. Had to get a refund on both but I lost about £40 on the most expensive one.
  23. Just an update... Suggests what everyone thought but could just be going along with fellow Motown fans' assumption.
  24. Bobby Diamond!! Is this really in-demand again? I mean, personally I love it and bought the white demo about 10 years ago for around £25/30.
