  1. But that was 30 years ago when they used to have a show......
  2. Fab Wigan Oldie that rarely, if ever see's a set of decks these days. Todays punters would apparently much sooner listen to endless plays of Moses Smith, Ruby Andrews and Bob Sinclair instead.
  3. Bit like this then.....
  4. The Champion. Walk with a Winner. I don't like to Lose.
  5. Don't recall Bob Sinclair, Duffy etc being loved by anyone 30 years ago (or 40/50 years for many of us ) Many of todays venues are little more than pensioners disco's, a Social scene very loosely based around a few dozen 'Northern Soul' records where people can meet their mates and have a late drink with (or pull) people their own age. The Music is VERY much secondary to their main reason for attending.
  6. Most nites are little more than a social scene for the over 50's. The genre of the music coming out the speakers matters little as long as it's danceable after the requisite amount of Stella. "Can you play that tribute thing for me Mrs M8?"
  7. Could be a nice little earner for them...... 'Door Tax £5 punters - £10 DJ's'.
  8. As above - Grumpy for this Grumpy as well.
  9. Deffo Warrington Ste. The Van had no tax, bald tyres and a screwdriver in the ignition......... wanna buy a Stereo?.
  10. Not the usual Wildlife pic's, but..... From a classic show I went to a while back. Some retro Fast Fords. And, the best name for an internal combustion engine....... ever!.
  11. Nice well written piece Chalky. Sadly many on the scene today are clueless to what happened post Youth Club, let alone post Wigan
  12. Thanks as usual for posting Pete.... I hope a few 'Local Soul' jocks listen to this just to show there REALLY are more than 100 oldies.
  13. Started early 77 so this was my 'first' anniversary night. A truly special atmosphere that very few venues have matched since.
  14. Yep!..... Northern Soul was invented. Then Wigan was invented. Then a film about Wigan was invented. Then Northern Soul Line Dancing Weekenders were invented. Keep the Faith. It'll never be over for Me. It's a way of Life........ apparently.
  15. That's what they all say.........
  16. Zed1 commented on Winsford Soul's gallery image in Albums 2015
  17. Given that performance it's unlikely Willie Mitchell will be getting added to the OT playlist any time soon.
  18. C'mon Dave, todays NS dancers are much better...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4oxGN5c8CE
  19. Dance scene......... although more of a Dad Dance scene these days.
  20. This is VERY sad news. Our thoughts are With Eddie and his family. RIP Lynn, you will be missed by us all. Debs & Gaz.
  21. Northern Soul Coffee mornings anyone?....
  22. The VX was based around the S2 Lizzy, but with the Vauxhall 2.2 ltr NA Vectra lump in the back instead of the weekly HGF K series in the Elise. The VX was a fantastic car, completely ruined by the Comedy Lotus build quality. Lotus = Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious
  23. Pretty much the whole scene today is a 'Charity Event'. Lets be honest most public organisations would charge a lot more that £5 to look after a load of half pissed pensioners for 4-5 hours every week while they pretend to be 18 again...... and even provide them with a free CD of the evening in case they forget all those 20 records they've just tried to dance to.. Northern Soul - proof that care in the community works.
