1925 according to PUNCH 1) 2) 3) What goes around comes around. - Kev. Edit: Couldn't enlarge the pics, so the captions are: 1) "Good Heavens, there's a fellow in Oxford bags!" 2) "Great Scott, there's a fellow not in Oxford bags!" 3) "Powers above, there's a fellow still in Oxford bags!"
  2. Nice story. Thanks for posting it. - Kev
  3. Already a thread started on these - in Look At Your Box and entitled "I want two of these" Maybe the Mods could merge? oops, Tony beat me to it.
  4. OK...but Sales & General Wants ffs?
  5. Sorry Len but I can't agree with this. What you (and the promoters) are assuming is that the punters are too narrow minded to want to attend both events. I've had this arguement put forward before with weekenders that clashed - vastly different music policy but I'd love to have attended both. - Kev
  6. Elayna Boynton. I prefer Aretha Franklin's (original?) version. Think there was a thread on this during the last couple of weeks. - Kev
  7. C'mon Ady - 1 vote for you and 1 for Horace. - Kev
  8. That will be DUSTON, Northampton, Pete. Same place that promoter Paddy Grady resides.
  9. You can close it now Dave. I've changed my vote from Bridges, Knight & Eaton (swayed by that fantastic B.O.S. night in Coventry) to the thoroughly deserving Pied Piper team. - Kev
  10. Try moving to Kent - we'd call it a clash if there were two events in the same year! - Kev
  11. In a bar on holiday I'd be happy to get my fix via any format. It's just background music, the same as when I'm driving. If it was a promoted soul nite that would be a different matter and I can't for the life of me understand why UK promoters think that it's ok to promote events abroad and play under those "different rules" - off various formats just because there's a bit of sun and sand about. They wouldn't get away with it in the UK but think that they can in foreign parts - even when the host country has it's own established scene. I think you well under estimate the number of small local nites that have an OVO and rare/underplayed policy. But for arguments sake lets assume you're correct.with only 5 out of 1000 playing OVO. What say we stop supporting 995 of those nites and get off our @rses to travel and pack out the other 5 ? Now wouldn't that be refreshing! - Kev
  12. Oh, and the lead post which was also quoted in post #4 was Freddie Houston - Soft Walkin' Frustrating isn't it ? - Kev
  13. It was Al Wilson - Now I Know What love Is - Kev

Cheers Billy. Try searching for Stylus list or Stylii (plural) list. I use Shure Whitelabel stylii and carts myself, but they can be a bit fragile if you haven't cued up right. - Kev.

Not sure what you're after Billy - A Record Style List or A Record Stylist Either way I don't really know what you mean - Kev
  16. Surely that is just a screenshot, a cut and paste job, and doesn't connect you in any way to the mail link. Hope that's the case anyway. -Kev
  17. I googled an answer and hadn't heard/seen the advert when I posted previously. Now that I have I agree with the first half of your sentence Pete. As for the second half - well I reckon the advert version is superior and a bit less "poppy". - Kev
  18. Debonaires....Loving You takes All Of My Time (hurrah for google) - Kev Oops! - too late.
  19. Smartwater contains a chemical code which is unique to you as a purchaser. It's reckoned to be "virtually invisible" to the naked eye - if that's vitually invisibe as in the VERY visible marker pens that the police tried to get us to use - then I wouldn't want it anywhere near my vinyl. Cross-contamination would be an issue too, especially if you dj. There's a possibility that the chemical marker would be tranferred to the decks and anyone else handling your vinyl, to anyone using those "contaminated" decks and to any other vinyl played on them, etc, etc, etc. I reckon your answer lies in good security rather than a marking system. Good luck, - Kev
  20. Deffo picked up my copy late '69 or early '70 when it was one of my favourites played at Wilby. Same time as Poets was being spun there and at the Earls Barton niters.. By December '70 I'd joined up and moved away so can't have been later. - Kev.
  21. Nah,.........he's implying that it's unknown, and not just to him, knowing that a fool and his money are easily parted IMO. And if the artist is made known to him then he should alter his description and be honest about it. What am i saying!.....we're talking ebay and Northern soul - Kev
  22. But if he's still listing it as "unknown artist" having been informed who the artist is? That's not right. - Kev.
  23. Good to hear that my collection is rocketing in value Pete. - Kev
  24. Lonely Girl - Miss Madeline - Mar-v-lus, gets my recommendation as a quality cheapie. Or by Young Folk on the same label - the exact same version with Madeline Strickland lead vocal. - Kev
