  1. Reading the Manship results just doesn't seem the same without Joe kicking off the thread. RIP.
  2. Stone Foundation are always good live. I might have to bugger off before Mr Charles starts his audience participation set.....
  3. Yep, that was it. Nude night was the one with very cheap drinks before 11. Bar staff used to see us beer monsters coming and run.
  4. Used to be some good stuff played at Nude Night at the Hac. Don't Leave Me Starving : H-D-H for me.
  5. The album's all good, but this is the standout track. Sounds like she's been listening to some Sharon Jones!
  6. There's a terrific, stomping track (Coming to you) on the new Jill Scott album.
  7. Cats provide good scale!
  8. Probably been done before but some big soulful wood carving from the canal near Pennington Flash.... Carcassonne Castle.
  9. This fella successfully nested in my garden earlier in the summer.
  10. That Ike & Tina poster is just beautiful!
  11. I enjoyed this thread. Bit surprised this early Bowie effort's not had a mention. I love it.
  12. Erm..... thanks for sharing. Putting warnings on only encourages idiots like me, I won't ever play the inst again.
  13. Looking forward to the new album very much. I go to see Stone Foundation whenever I can. They are superb live.
  14. Hmmm! Risky place to be buying property. The Detroit average property price has fallen by 50% in the last ten years. Average sale price for 2015 is about $32,000. Even if it's in a very nice part of town, I think I'd pass. Unless, of course, there is a big record collection he left behind in the cellar.
  15. I wouldn't go anywhere near it but I think it's a good thing more young people are listening to quality soul music and if this encourages some of them to progress to coming to nights where they can hear the real thing on the original format then that's great. We have to be realistic, we're a bit dinosaur like in the eyes of some young uns. I'd much prefer kids to get into the music this way than not at all.
  16. It's a great comp but to be fair it's a available for £7 on Discogs.
  17. Thanks for posting. Really enjoyed this, these are a proper snapshot of a moment in time for the NS scene. Pete's pre-internet era knowledge of the details of label releases was brilliant!
  18. Nature reserve at Lagoa dos Salgados on the Algarve. These are birds
  19. Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere: Thursday 16 July 2015 8:15 PM at The Bridgewater Hall
  20. I'd quite like it to include the slightly different mix of A Thrill a Moment that was on the 2005 Kim Weston Anthology.
  21. Billy's voice has been a constant presence through my 40+ years of loving soul music. I've always had a particular soft spot for I'll Bet You. I am so sorry to hear he is so unwell. God bless.
  22. Signed.
  23. I can't choose between Rare, Collectible and Soulful vol 1 and Sock it to 'em Soul
  24. I always thought they did the infamous unrated video of Blurred Lines in an attempt to distract from the blatant plagiarism they had perpetrated.
  25. Tesco's in Stretford had big floorstanding, wire bins of 45's in 72/73 for 10p. Hard to sift through! Lots of blue Stax and Mirwood. I was on a quid a week from my paper round and for some time, Tesco got all my money.
