So Out Of Tune You Can't Get Past It
Milton Bennett--Whats One More Lie This for me could have been one of the greatest Northern Records ever if the vocal was up to the mark. From 55 in it sounds like me in the pit showers after a night shift real shame. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAFDYdGB5Ns

Billy Davis - Stanky Get Funky
Hi Guys Think i mentioned this a few years ago but i have an original copy of BILLY DAVIS --STANKY GET FUNKY--COBBLESTONE.I bought it from Dave Flynn several years ago now . The thing is the Flip plays I'VE TRIED as it should but the title and credits are missing its just a blank cobblestone label. The Stanky side is normal(see scans).I have asked around for years and no one else has one the same.So i thought i would ask on here does anyone else have one the same, and has it occurred on other Cobblestone issues

The Stafford Story: On Top Of The World - The Stafford All-Nighters
Agreed obviously a labour of love for Chalky but at the same time must have been bloody hard work getting it together.A piece of work that ranks high in the contribution to the scenes history.Well done Chalky

How North Is North?
Prior to it being tagged Northern Soul i was 4 so got my musical fix from watching playschool. Don't Know why you get fed up of the Pits Steelworks Cobbled Streets Thing. My Northern soul jorney started at late 70s youth club level in Doncaster. Most of my mates Dads worked in the Pit and other Industrial Jobs. I left school at 16 in 81 and went straight down the pit like most of my mates. Sorry but its a fact that the majority of employment in the North 1970s/80s involved working in Hard grim heavy industry and lots of soul fans lived for the weekend when they could take off the overalls and Leave the Shit behind at a Northern soul venue

Stopping Buying / Selling Up
Some Great Heart felt posts showing a real touching humanist side that is mostly Hidden within the often snide and one upmanship comments you get on this forum. What jumps out at me from this reading this thread is that it has been a privilage to have been part of this scene .The music has touched and forged us all . The constant listening and dancing to Soul music that lifts us , makes us cry, and tears at our heart strings has eventually tought most of us that The messages in the grooves are more important than the plastic it is pressed on . Good luck to all you guys making descisions about your future and your collections

Album Track Carvers
Nah i don't get upset Pete. But if you want to talk about Weird whats weirder than paying a few hundred quid to get bootleg carvers done from Albums you already own at home but are not strong enough to carry the box out to play .

Album Track Carvers
No Dick swinging here from me mate. You do what you want. I'm just expressing my opinion that as a punter i would like to see the LP only tracks played from their original LP. I cant understand paying Say a hundred quid to get 5 carvers done of LP tracks that you already have and that are essentially boots if played out.

Album Track Carvers
Yes thats true i know that myself, i suppose some DJs are allowed and some are villified for it ,all depends who you are. If you are a top DJ booked for a high profile spot at a quality venue because you have the tunes on original vinyl then you got to play em regardless of the price tag. If the D.J doesnt want to play his rare expensive records then fine don't D.J

Album Track Carvers
Greety thats fine mate if your not bothered and happy with it but i wouldnt be happy paying to hear them. The fact that you can prove you have the original LP is the same as saying its ok to play a carver of a 45 because i have the original at home.Whats the difference apart from the size of the disc. The only carver i think is ok is an unissued track.I know lots disagree these days but some respect for the Scene and the Punters has to be preserved in my opinion, which is more important that the weight of the box.Don't want to come accross the wrong way as the odd legit reissue at the right venue doesn't bother me too much but i hate to see a guy using carvers
-
Album Track Carvers
Sorry Mal but i just dont get it. The fact that its too heavy to carry LPs around hardly makes the OVO principle fall down.I would as a punter feel let down if a guy turned up with Several carvers of LP only tracks and started spinning them.
-
Album Track Carvers
But If you DJ with album only track carvers then in effect you are playing Boots. Isn't it worth lugging a few albums around to have the satisfaction of playing the original. Surely a typical spot wont contain too many album tracks so cant see a reasonn for the carvers
