Sandy Golden-Your Love Is Everything & When Were Alone Tonight
This thought's been at the back of my mind for 26 years since seeing Ion's copy. Have you noticed the similarity (probably better to say spitting image) of the typeface on the Sandy Golden to the boots of things like The Magnificents on Dee Gee, Christy Allen on Diamond, Lee David on Ruby etc? Not implying anything untoward, but in view of Pete's assumption of Sandy Golden's records coming from either the late '70s or early '80s, do you thnk the boots I mentioned would have been done at the same US pressing plant / label printing plant?

Your All Time Favourite Rca Release ?
So does that mean the rumour of Big Boris being a Jamaican musician resident in the UK is untrue then? Or was it just confusing Johnny Arthey with his work for labels like Trojan?

Frank Cherval
I'm convinced this is the original version of "How Come". The US DJ copy has a handwritten date of September 1962, which is just over a year before Tony Williams' version on Philips (not sure about Byrdie Green on End though). Nice version, though IMO the Tony Williams version is far superior and more soulful.

The Ones That Got Away
Turned down "I Ain't Got Time" by the Oracles on OM for £20 in 1985 - was in Ian Clark's box, though he did sell me Bobby Kline a couple of years before that for £22! Around the same time the Oracles was sighted I also turned down "You Really Made It Good" by Ty Karim on Senator for £25 out of Tommo's box.

The Ones That Got Away
Hardly surprising..........even then it was going for about £15 elsewhere, so stil a bargain even by 1983 standards.

David Gest's Soul Spectacular
How can I take this at all seriously, knowing what a name-dropping, big-headed bastard David Gest is? Probably won't even live up to its description of the so-called acts Gest seems to know personally.

Another Fine Example Of Ns On Ebay
Yes - that is exactly why 'The Drifters' felt forced to change their name to The Shadows, after their records becoming hits in America, and the US Drifters having releases in the UK.

Listening To Lyrics
I always thought the Scouting For Girls track was: She's slovenly, She's slovenly......

Casinos
Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye / I Still Love You was released on President at the end of 1966 (apparently). That's The Way / Too Good To Be True on Ember was a '67 release. So yes - I would say the President 45 was their first UK 45.

Charles Mann - Hey Little Girl
Thought I'd make an oblique reference to it, in case it was still a closely guarded secret! But of course we know it as that double-sider; "Girl I Feel It / Running Down My Legs"

Charles Mann - Hey Little Girl
H**h B*****n 45 isn't it Dave?

Charles Mann - Hey Little Girl
Yes that's right Jason. Also, a lot of Lanor's releases were Cajun records. And if you want yourself a real bargain, check LN 529 on the list: https://www.lanorreco...S45NEWPAGE.html

Joe Jama - Anyone Know The Release Date?
American releases are almost always hard to date, without a decent matrix etc....
-
World's Biggest Collection Still Unsold
Which leads me to believe that not only is he emotional about his records - he's also completely deluded and needs to get real, if he expects to be taken seriously.
-
Drifters - Drip Drop
Bloody 'eck! What would that make a UK London original worth then?
-
Mello Souls
Yes - Dave's right. To put a finer point on it, it's a Dick Charles Studios acetate, from what I can remember.
-
Eddie Holman - Where I'm Not Wanted
Good point..........unless it only exists as a tape.

Info Please On 2 Records
Having owned both the original and bootleg over the years, I can tell you three ways of identifying a boot from an original. - The boot label is dull, matt and rough to the touch (though the print is quite distinct), as opposed to the shiny-smooth original. - The boot vinyl is quite flexi and has a 'flat' edge. The original has a 'square' edge (if you get my drift). - To really be an anorak, the run-in groove of the boot has a very faint noise like blowing wind. This noise dies out 2 seconds before the start of each side. This is also the case on the "Angel Baby" boots by Darrell Banks (lookalike Atco demo), so I imagine they were done by the same plant at the same time. The matrices on the boot and original are totally identical; however, the original matrix is quite pronounced and distinct, and the boot's matrix is quite faint (written on rather than scratched in).

Mysterious Soul (Disco) Double Lp's From 1978
Pete, this appears to be an exact reissue of the LP, albeit with a different cover. Merely a case of repackaging sh*t as sugar and hoping for the best.

Mysterious Soul (Disco) Double Lp's From 1978
Disco Party was a double LP on Marlin - all tracks were segued, and included things like "Best Disco In Town" by The Ritchie Family and "Gimme Some" by Jimmie Bo Horne. The front cover had super-imposed images of disco-type people in wing collars, flares and Travolta hairstyles. During the early '80s you could get it as a cut-out for around £1.
