  1. If you only bought one I think you would get bored pretty quickly with it so go for some top £15 tunes and have a party
  2. I wasn't aware of Butch playing it before Rix / Thomas but was aware of talk that he didn't own a copy until he proved otherwise. So I presume Butch had it but didn't play it out much if at all. Top tune - If I had it i would play it every day and twice on Wednesdays
  3. This is what I always thought the story was. Andy Rix bought the first known copy, he and Rob Thomas played it out and made it a desired sound. This copy eventually got sold to Mick H There was talk that Butch didn't have one until he proved all skeptics wrong and played it (100 Club I think) so now there are two. (He may of had it first - Who knows) A third copy turned up in Blackpool and was sold to Sam. Number four was Gained by Mark Hopes from a USA record source of his. Now there is one on eBay - If its not one of the above then there is five + all the others I haven't heard of All the above is my version and counts for sod all Mick
  4. It was played by Andy Rix and Rob Thomas for a few years. The present owner is on SS. I'm off for a few days and will put part of the track up when I return for you unless I get messaged by the present owner. Mick
  5. Geno Washington - Ohh Baby
  6. I had a chat with JA about this record about two years ago. He said he got a call from Sussex PR man and he had a record that was just the kind of thing that J was looking for. They met but none of them had a record player so J couldn't listen to it - he took a gamble and bought about 8 copies for a dollar each. The PR man said the label was doomed and whatever J didn't buy would go in the dumpster.
  7. Ray Pollard appeared as an extra in a tv series. He played the part of a hobo / drifter Lennis Guess also appeared in a film
  8. Spoke to him a few years back and he confirmed his son was an actor and he was in Boyz In The Hood.
  9. This was on a cd that Rob Thomas gave me about 10 years ago. I can confirm it wasn't the best track on there.
  10. I sure Billy Woods was last record from Sussex
  11. Mad as a box of frogs - Always look forward to his & Js company
  12. Don Ryan (Notts) won the dance contest at the 1st memorial and Im surprised the 2nd one offering the memorial shield as he kept it - Contrary to the original agreement. Im sure the young lady who came second was meant to get it after 6 months and then return it for future events. Bet Don has still got it. Another poster where Nev DJ'ed
  13. I have tried to load the second part on here but it says its to large to load Shame as I think its the better one of the two Mick
  14. This should be Nev at the decks November 78 at Inkersal second part to follow 01 Track 01 9.mp3
  15. Nev at the decks Looks like I cant load from my old computer at work - I will try at home tonight Mick
  16. They fell asleep at Nevs grandmothers in front of a gas fire and suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning.
  17. Hi Rob, must be a different Nev as ours passed in 1980. I have looked for details to find the date but very sketchy. I have try to work it out by where I was working at the time of the funeral and Im 99% sure it was 1980
  18. I became a good friend of Nevs in 76 he used to take a group of us up and down the country to all-nighters in his Austin Morris 1100 until he upgraded to a Austin Maxi 1750. We used to carry his two long thin record boxes in for him so we got in for free. I was 16 and didn't appreciate how lucky I was to be involved in his circle of friends. Many road trips ended up not to plan - two spring to mind - once going through snakes pass on solid ice he span the car in two full circles and carried on like nothing had happened. Another time at around 5am a police car that passed us on the other side of the road did a u turn so Nev shot down a side street onto some random drive, switched his lights of and we all ducked down until the police had passed. I once went to his home and met his parents and they were vinyl mad I remember seeing every CBS demo ever released just for starters. Nev was used to close down Loughborough and St ives nighters he picked Charles Mann for his last record. He was a good freind of Phil Spector and shown us his monthly letters (Phil very rarely signed the letters he used a little stamp that looked like a Home Pride Man). Nev loved trebor mints and had a strange hand shake, he worked at a mens clothing shop Dunn & Co. By the time I was 17 he had met Christine and finally found love. Rip to them both and thanks for the memories Mick My mistake - Not St Ives It was Wakefield
  19. I think the studio was on Green Dolphin Avenue or something similar
  20. Good luck John I put this in SS wants about 10 days ago - got no replies
  21. Great tune, looks like Bazzas on his own.
  22. Albert Washington - Somewhere Down The Lane - De luxe Please pm price and condition Mick
  23. Dont think so, I went into Rich Rosens shop in Vagas around the same time as buying the records. He knew full well what we were looking for and Im sure he would of offered us the above mentioned records if he had them. Must add that there was stacks of northern in the shop but all full UK price. Long way to go to pay full price.
