I don't think they ever "moved" to Chicago. I believe they had a distribution or company branch in Chicago but I would alomost swear they were always based in Cincinnati

Also, a lot of companies started subsidiaries it was thought that radio stations might not play a new release on a label because it would be perceived they were showing favoritism towards a label. The Gordy label was started when Berry found out his first wife Thelma was going to start a record label called Gordy. Soul was supposed to be for the harder R& B releases. ps- What Kim Weston is on Soul ?? Was obviously typing a lot of this while the other answers were being posted.

Finally had a chance to play mine.All was fine except for the Temptations 45 which jumped during the intro.

I have what is(probably) an early press of #512 with no release # or publishing credits- someone handwrote "Heno Pub. Co." and SA 512 on the "Everybody..." side. On the "You Stood Me Up " side, Merill is scratched out and "Heno" is handwritten as the music publisher.

I think the whole album was released as singles but it was for promotion only in the USA. Once in awhile the promo pack shows up on e-bay. Or.. just get "The Way I See It" CD.

I got a 90%. Even though I was warned about the Four Tops question- I still got it wrong !

"Harmour Love" ( the B side of "WLHJT" )did have a U.S. 45 release but with a different B side ("Cause We've Ended As Lovers" ). I don't think Syreeta's version of "What Love Has Joined Together " came out on 45 in the U.S.

I asked this question about 6 months ago. From what I remember, I guess it was scheduled for a Kent release but Universal decided against it. There is someone on here who can give you a better answer than mine though.

The star copy is vinyl ( at least mine is).

The lead singer on "Touch Me Jesus" is actually Darlene Love. I think this was her 1st and only session for Invictus.

I bought the record as a new release - just checked my copy and it looks like the top copy. Never noticed the "Kenndricks" spelling until now!

Someone sold a vg+ copy about 3 years ago for $191 . Spotted another copy that was sold in June 2013 that was described as "overall poor condition" with a crack but it "plays out fine" (!!) That copy sold for $80.

That's definitely not Eddie Kendricks singing. It also doesn't sound like the version by Frankie Gee, Arnie's Love or Jamie Principle .

Martha Reeves remade the song for Arista around '75/ '76.

Nick was born in Fairfield, South Carolina and Jack was from Philly. If they are related- I think it would be distantly. I'm not sure where Arthur fits in.

I (obviously) don't have the original but I do have the copy that came with "Hype And Soul" The A side label credits- "Margaret Phelps, Berry Gordy Jr., Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes, The Temptations". The B side label credits-"Martha & The Vandellas, The Contours, Eddie Holland, Kim Weston The Supremes" So my question is do the credits have to be on one label or can they be on two separate sides?
