it's an individual thing...but sometimes everything just seems brilliant. Last night was that for me. Just enough of a crowd, play-lists, etc.

Well we said it was gonna be hot, hot, hot and Boy was it, the music and atmosphere and on a real busy night on the soul calendar, to say it surprised us, is an understatement!!! People turned up in numbers yet again, it was really humbling and we know we are providing the kind of "old school" soul night that is sadly lacking today.

Unbelievable feedback and once again, we thank the Ashton Faithful, you guys make this night what it is!!

Nice to catch up with Steve Cato and Lydia,  Shirley Wood(still owe you for the mag ooops) Debbie Troops and so many more.

Onto the reason we're here(the music) Phil Dunn did a great early doors set and a non too shabby earlier spot from Ashton Supremo Chris Churm. John Baggaley and Dave Flint(hope I spelled that right) provided a quality mix of the known and not so well known 45s.

Next up Tony Mac, who I'll always say re-ignited my passion for "this thing of ours" after a local soul night, late 80s I think? Tremendous hour and the dance floor lapped it up. Gibby Gibby followed with record after record, thanks for the request The Groovettes a late casino spin I think, sounded "on the money" bouncing out of the speakers, quality set mate, Rockmasters an inspired last record!!

I had the unenviable task of ending another memorable night and it was great to see the floor full till the last record. Hats off to that man Robbo requesting "watch out little girl" The Invitations, it had folk running back in the room, inspired choice mate!!

Our next night Saturday July 15th with more than a hint of those heady Lifeline niters, with a more than welcome return behind the decks for two of the residents there Andy Dyson and Karl Chalky White, add to that one of the scene's characters from the North East Alan Coney and our very own Simon Ingham.

Keep your eyes on the soul press nearer the time for more details!!!

Wow wow wow. I thought I was the only one who played Jesse James - if you want a love affair. But then to hear johnie mae Mathews - I have no choice, blew me away. Rare rare rare records being spun, 2nd time going, blows me away every time.

Another hot night in so many ways at the Ukrainian Club and with a few regulars missing. Was a slow burner at first however by 8.15  all the seats downstairs were claimed .Great sets by all especially Tony Mac. Was also good to see Chris on a bit earlier too.

Once again a big thank you to all involved
