Great label, been buying up a lot of SMASH underplayed stuff lately, and there is some great stuff on the label that won`t break the bank, can`t find it on refosoul or youtube, but CHARLES1V-WE CAN DO SOME BUSINESS. sheer underplayed classthumbsup.gif will scan my copy tomorrow, IRENE AND THE SCOTTS a tape swappers favourite in the 70`s finally getting the recognition it deserves, great label

Once I was in a real hurry to play the next tune and I just didn't know what to friggin play next ...I just couldn't read the dance floor. ....people were dancing and having a laugh and I already played a few nice tracks obscure, semi knowns, oldies the lot...I was panicking big time... should I play this one or that one...bugger I changed my mind again and again.... my heart beat went bum bum bum.....shit the dance floor is full what the hell should I play.... well before I leave the deck empty I dropped this one ...the intro went ....bum bum bum bum bum bum....fck it was like if someone put a mike one my chest...people looked at each other....most of them recognised the track and wush off the went dancing like mad....I went sdgsjflglkoopk and straight to the dance floor to have dance myself....just back in time to drop the next tune... I thought fck it and I played it again...!!! :lol:

For me, if this disc was discovered today it wouldn't reach DJ decks as on home Hi-Fi it is as poppy as something that is really poppy!!

HOWEVER, thankfully it was discovered many moons ago and a lot of us first heard it booming out of a club PA...PURE atmospheric Northern!

Maybe?

:thumbup:

Jay And The Techniques - Keep The Ball Rolling etc!

I have all the Jay & Techniques mentioned and the Swinging Medallions titles on Japanese Mercury...worth a mention!?!

:thumbup: This record is still a million times better than the dross dished out by plebs like Frank Wilson and George Lemons,the average soul fan back in the day when this was first played had more knowledge and better taste than the average soul fan nowadays,some of the crap i hear at events wouldn't have got near a turn table in Searlings hey day at the Casino 1978-1981.

I take it you didn't include yourself in the oh so knowledgeable ones from back in the day, Frank Wilson from back in the days of the Casino :thumbup:

And half the crap played back in the day wouldn't get near a turntable today :no:

:yes::lol:

Larry Clinton,Court Davis,Cecil Washington,Moses Dillard,Little Ann etc etc, Frank Wilson was overrated from the off, those records i have mentioned are far superior to anything dicovered in the last twenty years.

sound-files are in post number 39, think it was Derek Pearson who originally put them in refosoul.
