DerekG
I always knew Porgy & Monarchs - My Heart cries had been done previously but the Wikipaedia entry surprised me :- "My Heart Cries for You" is a popular song, adapted by Carl Sigman and Percy Faith from an 18th-century French melody. The music is from an old French song attributed to Marie Antoinette " La jardinière du Roi". Link to comment Social source share
Geeselad
The Fisk Jubilee Singers sang it in 1901 !!!! would of thought it was an adaptation of a tradition comp from a spiritual source, thus dating back far earlier. Link to comment Social source share
