not sure if anyone has posted the Daptone 100th 45 release yet, the A side "Hey Brother" is really good:  "a soulful collaboration between all of our dynamic vocalists. Here we have SAUN & STARR, The FRIGHTNRS, JAMES HUNTER, NAOMI SHELTON, DUKE AMAYO, LEE FIELDS, and of course the late great monarchs of our family, CHARLES BRADLEY and SHARON JONES, all performing shoulder to shoulder on record for the first and only time, singing a message of righteousness and brotherhood over a groove sewn seamlessly together by members of The DAP-KINGS and MENAHAN STREET BAND"

Weird but every time I tried initially direct with Record Kicks I couldn’t add to basket

No didn’t get download with it but I did already have the album.

To be honest I’m really surprised it’s arrived as was prepared to wait patiently for it to come 👍

That's why I got confused with the single not being released until 3 weeks (On it's own)

Yes you are right that’s what it says everywhere, even Juno is still saying will email when it’s in stock and not taking orders yet.

I’m not sending it back and waiting the 3 weeks though lol

this got a 7" release today, very nice

No luck myself - emailed Record Kicks and they told me to follow them on Bandcamp and I should hear this coming week. Puzzled, hopeful.

I've followed them for ages so we'll see, fingers crossed, tried to cover the bases this time by pre-ordering off a UK distributor and an EU DJ store, both orders confirmed but whether they'll ship it is another thing

Just had a message to try Simply Soul - gone ahead and seems ok, fingers crossed!

it's also just gone up up for pre-order on bandcamp now...

this new 45 is up for pre-order on Colemine, the b side is the track I'm really intersted in

Released on 12” today so just ordered one up 👍

would love to see this on vinyl, 2 mins 44 seconds of luxury, contemporary modern soul from Austin Texas, kind of sound I'd like to see Expansion or Soul Brother records pick up for vinyl release (please, take my money)

 

Hope this is the right place for this. Gil Scott Heron with his original college band Black & Blues (although I think I'm right in saying these were recorded during or just after the 'Pieces of a Man' sessions). These have been out as bonus tracks on a CD of 'Pieces' for a couple years but brand new on 7" thanks to Ace. Both sides superb. I doubt a better 7 will come along this year!

 

Got one of those arrive yesterday, yes terrific stuff 👍

New (2019) USA release but proved a pig to successfully source having tried for a while and got this message from Eli’s agent 

‘Hi Andrew - have spoken to the US label and this was a super ltd release (300) and they’ve all gone I’m afraid.

Yes , originally done by SD. Eli’s first came to my attention via a dj set from Rosco Smith in the rnb/mod room at the 2019 Barraloadasoul  Alldayer and became a mission to get one !
