Philt
Just a few lines to say thanks to all those who turned up for the first bash last night; everyone I spoke to said they'd enjoyed it which was really good to hear. While I hardly ventured into the main room when I did pop my head around the door it seemed to be buzzing and the dancefloor was pretty much always well stocked which was good to see. For our part, the 'rare' room seemed to go down really well with folk, due in no small part to the usual quality sets from Joan and Karl R and my old mate Wayne Hudson who I'd dragged kicking and screaming out of retirement (Pinkertones - go on fella )- thanks for your support guys, very, very much appreciated!!! In addition, thanks to the hardy folk who danced for most if not all of the night despite the small dancefloor in the back room; you know who you are but what you possibly don't realise is just how much you add to the atmosphere - these things would all die on their arses very quickly if they were just inhabited by 'chin-strokers' like me so good on yer!!! Also, it was really good to see some 'oldies' folk from next door popping in for a look and a listen - keep on coming! Finally, really great friendly atmosphere and what I think were top tunes played over the course of the night. From memory and in no particular order, the following were some of the things that I can remember got an airing (add to em if you can remember owt else): Bobby & Betty Lou - dr true love (T-Rax) Fabulous Peps - love of my life (Wheelsville) Pinkertones - it's not the way you walk (Queen G) Del Chontays - baby I need you (Steeltown) Venturas - heart of love (Green Light) Garland Davis - don't worry about dancing for me (Kick Off) Hayes Cotton - black wings have my angel (Resist) Strands - breeze from the trees (Tarx) James Dockery - my faith in you is all gone (Soul Craft) Monique - if you love me (Maurci) Bobby Angelle - too much for you (Money) Royal Robins - something about you sends me (TG Town) Troy Dodds- try my love (El Camino) Eptones - a love that's real (Jox) Debbie & Ladds - dear lord above (Ladd) Monzas - you know you turn me on (Moon) Arcades - got to be a loser (Triad) Jackie Day - naughty boy (Phelectron) Sonatas - going on down the road (Hotline) Lovers - without a doubt (Frantic) Next one will be in around 6 weeks time so if you're up Blackpool / Fleetwood way pay us a visit; think you'll enjoy it . Will be advertised via SS, OTS etc etc with flyers at various venues nearer the time too. ATB Phil Link to comment

Nice to see a progressive room in a new venue well supported. Keep up the good work Phil. From what I can recall here's what I played (at various time over the course of the night and in no particular order): Bobby & Betty Lou - dr true love Garland Davis - don't worry about dancing ... Monique - of you love me Larry Williams - you ask for one good reason Bobby Brinkley & Squires - would it matter Fabulous Peps - love of my life James Dockery - my faith in you is all gone Bobby Angelle - too much for you Arcades - got to be a loser Timothy Wilson - hey girl do you love me Johnny Guitar Watson - ain't gonna move Chuck Wells - love knot Gillettes - same identical thing Ascots - anytime Strands - breeze from the trees Lovers - without a doubt Hayes Cotton - black wings have my angel Jackie Day - naughty boy Kinettes - you got me baby (take 1) Sonatas - going on down the road Bobby Valentin - use it ... Tony Middleton - spanish maiden Troy Dodds- try my love Jackson Bros - I've gotta hear it from you Turley Richards - I feel alright Phonetics feat Willie Hutch - pretty girl Bootleggers feat Cathy Carlson - don't count on tomorrow & a couple of LP tracks towards the end Maxine Brown - don't leave me Rhetta Hughes- cry myself to sleep Frank Dell - he broke your game wide open Next one looks like Saturday 23rd June - still to be confirmed but get it pencilled in; will be a top line up and great tunes all night, guaranteed.
