james carr "freedom train" got to be right up there,sam cooke "a change gonna come" and from the early seventies judy freeman & blackrock "hold on"

Think there were some soundrack LP's mentioned on a similar thread, the late part of last year.

Richard Caiton - Where is the love. Song encouraging peace (at the time of the cold war) between nations. Super record.

Yes, and I remember reading somewhere that some of Motown's love songs could actually be interpreted on a wider social level - eg "It Takes Two" could be interpreted as an advocacy of the greater power of collective action over individual action

And surprised noone's mentioned Joe Tex's current biggie "I Wanna Be Free"
