June 22, 200816 yr didnt a few turn up early on this year... a bit over rated but has a decent drum break in the middle.. made popular by monsiuer fenn
June 22, 200816 yr more realsitic would be 600 though! isnt this a white group?? i like the other side too this a record by a white group ?! doesn't sound like one to me, label credits are pretty unsuggestive on this matter, though..
June 22, 200816 yr this a record by a white group ?! doesn't sound like one to me, label credits are pretty unsuggestive on this matter, though.. sounds definitely white to me, the group has two records on this label right? 1200 pounds seems over the top to me too, but I can't tell you what it changed hands for privately recently so I don't know all the details
June 22, 200816 yr I thought a seller had one at £600 on that list he put up here for sale in Prestatyn?? Also had a Young Ladies and a beaten up Fascinators on the list..... Fantastic crossover record! Edited June 22, 200816 yr by mulf
June 23, 200816 yr I thought a seller had one at £600 on that list he put up here for sale in Prestatyn?? Also had a Young Ladies and a beaten up Fascinators on the list..... Fantastic crossover record! it sold for lots more than that Joel - not sure who had it though. I got offered a VG one that played great for £400, or a mint one for £800 in January, but was skint... The mint one sold a few months later for quite a bit more than that to someone who isn't as lovely as me I really loved the record upon first hearing - its really messy - just like me! I hadn't heard it played out at all (I still hardly ever get out) before the lovely Dave Flemming put it on a Cd for me (with no track listing!) I had no idea what it was but just knew I needed it... Will have it one day once the fuss about it has died down
June 23, 200816 yr Kirsty: https://www.soul-source.co.uk/Records...VII#entry709812 It was Greg Tormo....£500 for a VG+ copy was the starting bid! Went for £1200 as you say.... Love the beautiful slow breakdowns in it..... The other one on blue Windmill is quite good..... Edited June 23, 200816 yr by mulf
June 23, 200816 yr sounds definitely white to me, the group has two records on this label right? 1200 pounds seems over the top to me too, but I can't tell you what it changed hands for privately recently so I don't know all the details seeing a sales thread where there is a copy of the Essex IV on Wind Mill, just wondering if it is the same label?! Somehow the Royale VII still doesn't sound like a white group to me, obviously nobody knows on here?

June 23, 200816 yr didnt a few turn up early on this year... a bit over rated but has a decent drum break in the middle.. made popular by monsiuer fenn Tony, none have turned up just the two Arthur was selling at Lifeline/Thorne. Funny when i played it out it killed the floor, and before you say it what like most things i play Dave f........... Edited June 23, 200816 yr by Dave Fleming
June 23, 200816 yr Passed on a mint copy of this at a record fair here couple of months ago, no one picked it up all day there, believe it went for about $1,300 in the end, wish the song lived up to the title but bit wimpy for my cloth ears, yes they're a white group, more evident on their other one on the label which picked up for all of $10 from a box marked as "garage", way more uptempo but wouldn't call it northern, good mod sound.
June 23, 200816 yr Tony, none have turned up just the two Arthur was selling at Lifeline/Thorne. Funny when i played out it killed the floor, and before you say it what like most things i play Dave f........... i got one of the copies that arthur was selling
June 23, 200816 yr Could I have heard this at soul-essence 2008 ? sure a song with those lyrics were running round my head at one point.....
June 23, 200816 yr Could I have heard this at soul-essence 2008 ? sure a song with those lyrics were running round my head at one point..... in a word yes. I know I played it, possibly others/ Part 2 is wicked.
June 23, 200816 yr in a word yes. I know I played it, possibly others/ Part 2 is wicked. thought it must have been this I was dancing too. sholuld give myself a pat on the back for being able to remember. I was a little worse for wear.
June 24, 200816 yr Its currently super hyped. Realistically I would say £250 to £300. The other release 'Hand Out Love', is harder, but unknown. Do a search on here, the 'Explosion' 45 has been up for around £200 a couple of times not so long ago. Its a Jap record and there are copies over there. It'll settle down in due course. what do you mean ? "its a jap record"....the copy ive got here in my hand clearly states the label address as p.o. box 9191 hampton virginia, now unless im mistaken, i always thought virginia was part of the u.s.a.

June 24, 200816 yr an old japanese collectors record. well, if theres copies in japanese collections, then it will remain a hard record to get, them japs dont let anything go

It'll settle down in due course. hm, but given the fact, that there is nearly no info on the net on this record, no popsike listing, JM sold his last copy three years ago, so obviously it's not around in quantity and it appeals to quite a few people, 300 sounds very low..
June 24, 200816 yr Strom, you're probably right its worth at least £1,200. that's not what i mean, but it seems rare and good records automatically fetch 500+, so i can't see why this one should be less.. But you're probably right, as I have a copy, I WANT it to be very expensive
June 25, 200816 yr Tony, none have turned up just the two Arthur was selling at Lifeline/Thorne. Funny when i played it out it killed the floor, and before you say it what like most things i play Dave f........... ahead of the pack dave! ...pre hot box selector now that would be a good topic.. yes arthur did have two...i did see another two for sale a few years ago that didnt end up on manship..or with arthur.. tony
June 25, 200816 yr well, if theres copies in japanese collections, then it will remain a hard record to get, them japs dont let anything go they do if u have something to tempt them with
June 26, 200816 yr Hi guy's just wanted to add some info on the Royal V11 disc that a good friend from VA has passed on, the Royal V11 were actually the 'Sheepherders' but minus Bubba Bailey......also I beleive that a reissue is about to surface soon possibly, so yes a white band, as although the line up was very transcient I think Bubba Bailey was the only black member (Its his vocal on the Sheepherders 45). Hope this info is some help to someone. ATB Russ

June 26, 200816 yr Sheepherders ffs? You couldn't make it up. Do you know the Sheepherders 45 Steve ???.........pretty good in its own right & another v rare disc too. Russ
June 26, 200816 yr If you listen to the Royal VII disc in the cold light of day there's no mistaking that it's a white band. Put me right off it if I'm honest. Not because their white - they just can't actually sing very well. Definitely one of those records that sounds better with the benefit of gear goggles. Not to put a dampner on things or anything.... ... where's my prozac?!
June 26, 200816 yr price drop imminent .... mind u its better than the tripe sisters on beer goggles is the drop imminent because copies have surfaced or just because it's overhyped and overvalued?
June 27, 200816 yr i would think all three imo..could also be "hot box or auction fever"..a most contagious disease with no as yet known cure to mankind
June 28, 200816 yr is the drop imminent because copies have surfaced or just because it's overhyped and overvalued? from what i can see, there hav'nt been that many copies surface, arthur had two & greg tormo had one, hardly a major haul, this thread seems to be going the same way as the billy woods discussion a few months ago, in which, if you believed everyone who posted up about a mates, brothers, uncles cousin twice removed who left a hundred count box behind in a detroit thrift shop in the 70's, then billy woods is a very common record, when people like john manship say theyve only ever had one copy of a record in thirty years, then, that tells me that said record must be pretty rare, ...........but of course i could be wrong, who knows whats lurking in my grandads shed, he was after all a japanese p.o.w., maybe he fetched a 1,000 count box back with him,
July 9, 200816 yr make that another copy got mine around 4 years ago as a blind buy for £2.50 of a u.k dealer to be honest its ok but one more for the funky boys, and thought the bit in the middle with the drums was a little messy. did try tracking the group a few years back and had a number but that was defunct. definately a white group got rid of it in a 3 way trade for purple mundi "stop hurting me baby" now there is a tune !! did have another track on the windmill lable midnight sunrise "promised land" windmill 101 was a poppy psych thing
July 9, 200816 yr I'm really surprised at people's thoughts on this record....thought it was quite highly regarded....great record imho....the slow bit makes it for me....
July 9, 200816 yr break good and general rhythm of the track ...vocal not so imo....edit required Part 2 is excellent.
July 10, 200816 yr 'break good and general rhythm of the track ...vocal not so imo....edit required' I'd agree not the greatest vocal but i've heard FAR worse! Love Ray & The Blue Satins too but the vocal is frankly, rubbish, yet the record works......very much so. Also, any Sugar & Sweet record.....she can't sing full stop.
July 10, 200816 yr I'm really surprised at people's thoughts on this record....thought it was quite highly regarded....great record imho....the slow bit makes it for me.... I love it too Mulf, love the slower verses with the strings, and as a mate of mine says it really gets the blood pumping. A totally exciting tune to hear played out. As for the vocals, well I've heard a lot worse than this. Jordi
