August 25, 200816 yr I'm no connoisseur of new soul music but has anyone heard this track, sounded bloody great to me! I haven't and tried to google but nothing came up on it, did you get anymore details on it Pete?
August 25, 200816 yr Author I haven't and tried to google but nothing came up on it, did you get anymore details on it Pete? No not really, it just came on and they said it was their record of the week for this week, it's certainly retro sounding but absolutely spot on. I'll see if I can find anything out.
August 25, 200816 yr pete ive just put in to google, radio 2 record of the week and found the tune you are on about but still trying to find out if i can play it,
August 25, 200816 yr Author I haven't and tried to google but nothing came up on it, did you get anymore details on it Pete? Jock I spelt the name wrong, should have been Reset To Zero - Anthoney Wright
August 25, 200816 yr i got that far pete but im going round in cicles on the r2 website trying to find out how to play the tune,
August 25, 200816 yr Author OK I've found a clip, it means you have to listen to Trevor Nelson though - anyway if you go here https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/nelson/musicthis.shtml and use the listen again feature and move it to 37 minutes, you can hear the track. After all that, you'll probably hate it
August 25, 200816 yr found it pete and i like it,the background music sounds a bit like bob+fred, ill be on my way but only a bit???,
August 25, 200816 yr I'm no connoisseur of new soul music but has anyone heard this track, sounded bloody great to me! Great voice, Pete. He reminds me of Cedric Johnson who sang (uncredited) on those Gloworm records. "Carry Me Home" is a good example of his work. Thanks, Paul Mooney
August 25, 200816 yr Hi BBC Sheffield's Steve White also played this on his Wednesday night soul show last week, If I remember correctly Steve said Anthoney Wright is from Nottingham. I think it's a cracking song hope it gets released soon.
August 25, 200816 yr I'm no connoisseur of new soul music but has anyone heard this track, sounded bloody great to me! Wow. Love it! Superb voice. Top man Pete. Nice to see a bit of 'beef' in the production coupled with the guys commitment to the vocal and song. Rich
August 25, 200816 yr I'm no connoisseur of new soul music but has anyone heard this track, sounded bloody great to me! Heard it a couple of times Pete..sounds good to me..reminded me of something else but not figured out what yet. Its on DeAngelis records..on an as yet untitled album due for release soon

August 26, 200816 yr I didn't, but thanks Wendy Here you go Obi-wan... that is my name for you WENDY___STEVE_WHITE.mp3
August 26, 200816 yr Wow! Was at work this morning and my ears pricked up when I heard this on Radio 2 (it's on the Ken Bruce Show as record of the week - even though it's Richard Allinson covering this week!) Unfortunately the Trevor Nelson soundclip wasn't available, so not to be detered, I found a small sample on the De Angelis Records site https://www.de-angelisrecords.com/ It's a shame it fades just as the harmonies are coming in though.... Happy listening
August 26, 200816 yr Heard it today whilst driving around and stopped to write the artist / title down. Ian Levine - Eat yer heart out and prick up yer ears.
August 26, 200816 yr Did you hear my dedication and thanks to Pete Smith and Soul Source on Wednesday then? Hi Wendy Yes indeed your request came over loud and clear, I'm pleased things worked out for you with the help of other Soul Source members. Going back to Anthoney Wright did Steve White say he was only around 19 yrs old? I missed that bit due to a phone call. Corker of a song by the way Talk to you soon. Regards paul Edited August 26, 200816 yr by Soul On A Stick
September 1, 200816 yr I haven't and tried to google but nothing came up on it, did you get anymore details on it Pete? Also getting lots or airplay on Smooth FM. More info https://www.myspace.com/anthoneywright Superb sound.
September 1, 200816 yr How strange, I hardly ever listen to the Radio, but driving along today we had Radio 2 on and heard this track. We were all blown away by it and thought it was an Anthony Wright and called return to zero , therefore I couldn't find anything on it on google etc. I just came on here to ask the wise and the wonderful of soul source and here it is . Ian Levine and his ears were also mentioned in the car
September 1, 200816 yr Hmmm, Latest in what's becoming quite a long list of Nu Brit-Soul artists that seem to be flavour of the month at the moment. Must admit though that he's one of the better ones if this is ow't to go by. Been around a while though & was part of Basement Jaxx a few years ago. Just a shame that all the contempory US Soul artists don't get this much exposure over here.
September 2, 200816 yr Author Do I get some award for starting my first ever "nu-soul" thread or for actually listening to a new release record
September 3, 200816 yr It reminds me of Redbone's 'come and Get Your Love' they were the ones who wrote and produced danny Monday. He's a Landaner apparently.
September 3, 200816 yr Do I get some award for starting my first ever "nu-soul" thread or for actually listening to a new release record Never thought in a million years I'd ever be saying this to you Pete but welcome to the dark side Can send you some details on how to join EMS. Sure you'd love it on there
September 4, 200816 yr Never thought in a million years I'd ever be saying this to you Pete but welcome to the dark side Can send you some details on how to join EMS. Sure you'd love it on there I'm not sure if they really approve of it on EMS (obviously different points of view), I thought it'd be right up their street but one poster even said "sounds like something off an Ian Levine album". I'm not sure he was being complementary.
September 4, 200816 yr Author Never thought in a million years I'd ever be saying this to you Pete but welcome to the dark side Can send you some details on how to join EMS. Sure you'd love it on there Cheers mate but I'd rather drink a pint of phlegm than listen to more modern soul
September 4, 200816 yr Hear we go, my girl friend says Oh! he is a bit of a hunk isn't he. So a modern tune and sex symbol its bound to be a flop. Edited September 4, 200816 yr by Prophonics 2029
September 9, 200816 yr Good evening soulies... Does anyone know if it will be released on a 45???? I heard this tune on the sarah kennedy show about 7.15 ish on friday morning...very nice...
September 12, 200816 yr Just heard it for the first time. Thinks its a cracker of a tune and would def get me on the dance floor
September 14, 200816 yr Author For those who haven't heard it, here it is. I've faded it out so that the last minute is missing Edited September 14, 200816 yr by Pete S
September 14, 200816 yr Good call Pete, I think the other track on his MySpace 'I Stand Alone' is also a good un! https://www.myspace.com/anthoneywright Easy to see where he got his influences, citing Al Green, Teddy P and Sam & Dave. Reminds me of a guy I've been banging on about for ages and rate very highly, the wonderful Ryan Shaw... probably his US equivalent and finally gaining favour stateside. Anyone likin' Anthoney should check out Ryan on a similar tip (in particular the incredible "I Am Your Man)... ...right here... https://www.myspace.com/thisisryanshaw Sean
September 25, 200816 yr The single is due for release 22nd september, fabulous track release date 29 sept mal ktf
September 25, 200816 yr Just found it on You Tube .youtube.com/ watch?v=C- HPDxd8ioI&feature=related Personally, I think it's brilliant. Edited September 25, 200816 yr by Brian J
September 26, 200816 yr Here´s a link to the record label: https://www.de-angelisrecords.com/ Glad to see that Anthony Wright gained some well-deserved recognition when he did that live session for BBC Radio2, "Reset To Zero" sounding very organic and kind of Northern Soul-ish actually.
