Any Bits Of A Record You Wish You Could Change ?

One of my all time favourites is 'J. D. Martin - By Yourself'... but i occasionaly wonder if it would have sounded better without the guy tapping a spoon on the cast iron radiator ?

Another one that springs to mind is 'The Isley's - Why When Love Is Gone'...that electric kind of 'beep beep beep' bit. Had a mate that so hated that bit that he asked if I could use some sound cleaning software that I had to get rid of it !

Any others ?

I would like to change the start and end oh and the middle bit of Bob & Fred to play silent, either that or change the run out grooves to smooth so you couldn't get a needle over it.

Would love to change the guitar break in Twelve 76's - The way you make me feel, to a nice bit of horns... :rolleyes:

Harold Melvin's - Prayin.

About half way through the 12" the tune breaks down into a silly childish prayer. I love the tune but that bit I cant stand.

The euro-party part of Spead by Soul Partners (Bell) would def be erased if I was in the studio the day it was recorded..

i'd change the grooves on Third window - Dean Barlow to completely flat.Resembling the run-in and run -out.

The Carstairs - It really hurts me girl, would benefit greatly from having the vocals removed.

I'd add a proper chorus and a decent instrumental break to "She'll come Running Back", that would make it a semi-decent track instead of the meandering mess that it really is.

This is a different take and not just without the vocal track, I like that mouth organ sound bit every know and then that comes in from the depth's of the track to haunt you. :yes:

For me it would have to be able to get the records in stereo but without compromising the dynamic power that a mono 7in has. :D

I am expecting a rare record in the post, an LP with a stereo track on it, the day it arrives I will post it up. :no:

Well spotted - It is a different mix.

Also it is in stereo, but I recorded this sound clip in mono because I had a recording problem with my equipment at the time - The vocal is on the flip side, again using this backing.

I didn't notice for many years, but the acetate is slower than the released versions (I speeded up the recording a couple of RPM for this sound clip, to make it consistent with the known versions - The vocalist actually sounds better at the slightly slower speed, more natural).

That's an interesting point that :lol: ........& a question for all the Dj types...( g.gif which according to the threads is all of us isn't it ? :D )

How many use the 'Mono' button on the mixer ?.....seems to make quite a difference to the sound imo.
