On a recent thread someone had the great idea of having a soul karaoke room, what song would you like to sing, and do you think you could reach the high notes?

Lenny I would love to murder Roy Hamiltons "Heartache Hurry On By".

I could reduce a man wi a glass eye to tears wi that song.Wonderfull!!!!

Not strictly northern but "What becomes of the broken hearted " just love it and allways sing To it when it comes on the radio, much to the embarassment of the wife and kids.

Hey Andy...do me a favour then..don't try it during your spot at Bonnyrigg on Saturday there are cheaper bars nearby

Well I actually do sing a few tunes at the karaoke nights at my local drinking emporia, including "My Girl", "Aint Too Proud To Beg" and "Long After Tonight Is All Over" - I have a recording of my rendition of My Girl somewhere, will throw it up on my webspace if/when I can find it

I'd have Roy Hamilton's voice and sing the Tempests "Someday" to the love of life who just got engaged to somebody else ..boo hoo!

Dave Evison did a night like this many years ago (I believe at The Cheshire Cheese in Nantwich)

It was supposedly a great success, and was called KaraOkeh Night...

He keeps mithering to try it again, but I'm staying well away from that one...

"Long after tonight is all over" would be one of my choices or the obvious "Queen of Fools" but I would only do it at closing time to help the landlord empty the pub.

The tracks were obviously very US based because while looking at the listings I noticed "Nobody But Me" Human Beinz and "More Today Than Yesterday" Spiral Staircase, both US hits. Fortunately I didn't get pissed enough to try, but was tempted with the Human Beinz track.

Me and my mate did do "Blue Moon" with me attempting the bass bit. It sounded good to us.

If i could sing,which i cant it would be little anthonys hurt so bad,awsome tune.

'Youre the song I've always wanted to sing', or kill in my case, by Timmy Thomas. I'm sure my cat wailing vocal could destroy that one in an ironic way.

Was once tempted by The Snake on a karaoke machine, but sobered up enough in time to do a runner before my name came up

Put Ali down for "Do I Love You" or "The Duck"

I do a mean Carl Hall-especially the high bits

Seems to be enough interest on here alone to warrant the idea.

Great fun. People willing to throw caution to the wind, lose their inhibitions and excercise their tonsils for the entertainment of others.
