  1. I have duly whipped myself with thorny sticks for that error Tony. I should have said new to me then.
  2. A few bits here for sale. Please PM if you're interested in anything. Paypal gift or add 4% please. Postage extra at £2.50 1st class recorded or £7.10 special delivery. Overseas will be quoted. Thanks for looking. The Youtube clips are only for reference. I will run the 'For offers' until Tuesday night about 9.00pm Ted Hall - Man in Demand (Red Bird) Ex. Offers over £500 Very rare obscure mid tempo '76 funky dancer. One small light scratch which doesn't affect play at all. Sounds like the lovechild of a Prince George/Curtis Mayfield sleazy motel one night stand. Here's a clip of the actual t'ing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a77PUxfe6WI&feature=youtu.be Sonny Daye & Sly, Slick and wicked - Never Had A Girl (Like You) (Bad Boys) Ex. Offers over £500 Another very rare and extremely tough to find 45 on a not too tough label. Mid paced beauty of a dancer with all the right ingredients to go big. Gorgeous vocals and harmonies. In demand tune. Lonnie Liston Smith - Expansions (DJ RCA UK) Ex. £20 SOLD Stunning cosmic classic dancer. I'm only selling this because I've got the 12" 100% Pure Poison - You Keep Coming Back. M- (EMI UK) £75 ON HOLD Fantastic, atmospheric crossover/northern dancer in proper sleeve. A really nice 45. The Black & White Affair - Sweet Soul Lady M. (Topaz). £120 Cracking recent discovery/play. Uptempo, horn laden dancer with more than a nod to the Isleys 'Who's that lady'. Percy Stone - Chained M. (Uk Grapevine DJ). £50 The only way to get this 45 apart from the very rare RAM original. Stone mint beauty. Eugene Gaspard - Holding On Ex. (Rosemont) £100 Dark and moody funky dancer. Intense record that sounds brilliant played out loud. Sir Charles Hughes - You Say that You're Leaving. M. (Jenna) £125 Another quality recent discovery/play. Uptempo crossover 'funky edged' dancer that hasn't had it's day yet. Brethren - Can This Be Real Ex. (Teen Town). £75 Been on quite a few wants lists. Nice tight funky dancer with killer drums and vocals, a really classy 45. Soul Explusion - love is the Answer/Barnyard Pimp. M-. (Tarantel Tramp Re-issue) £50 Rare reissue on the Tarantel label from Tramp records in Germany. The original Tarantel is extremely rare but this reissue is also very hard to find. Awesome sweet soul tune backed with a nice funk dancer. Gloria Taylor - How Can You Say it/Love is a Hurting thing. VG++ (Selector Sound) £80 SOLD Serious moody, atmospheric 45 here. Mid tempo, haunting brilliance. Has a few paper scuffs on it but they don't affect play at all. Very rare private press 45. Mandrill - Too Late. VG+ (Arista) £25 SOLD Absolute classic, gorgeous dancer. Has a couple of seconds styrene burn on the intro but plays nice after that. Bargain price for someone. Carstairs - Really Hurts Me Girl. VG++ (Red Coach). £60 Pink label release, but there is some damage to the label, a pit of peeling off one edge and a bit of marker pen. No big deal though, and you still get this mighty tune on lovely clean styrene.
  3. I'd like a pair of those Flynny. Size 9 please.
  4. This all makes me laugh really, we take the mick out of the baggies, vest and beer towel brigade and the 'uniform' that they wear, but half the people on this thread seem to think that you're not a 'proper soulie' unless you wear ox blood polished heavy duty leather soled brogues/solatios/ Loakes/ Comos etc. Christ on a bike, we'll be saying certain hairstyles aren't appropriate soul styles next. A good dancer is a good dancer, if he's wearing flip flops or wellies and he can dance much better than you, what's to criticise?
  5. Mind you, it would have led to less tat fairs at the weekenders.
  6. Really? I didn't know that. I thought both variations went for about £200-£250.
  7. SammyAcuna was a nice price for the buyer.
  8. Can't believe no-one has bought this at this price. Simply brilliant 45.
  9. Can't be that hard surely. There used to be tons of them around.
  10. Now that's different to the boot 12" i've got.
  11. The boot 12" that came out some years ago is the same cut as the CD. The boot was the only vinyl of it ( I thought). There are a couple of dodgy house/club tracks on the boot and 'where are we going' seems a bit incongruent on the 12" really. The new 12" is a slightly different mix and like Mark, I actually prefer the boot version, although there really isn't much in it. At least with this new 12" you get Marvin's awesome 'Woman of the world' and Donald Byrd's better version of 'where are we going' (IMO).
  12. Here's the last recent one on Ebay Peter. https://www.ebay.com/itm/EDDIE-FOSTER-I-Never-Knew-Northern-Deep-Soul-45-IN-HEAR-/191316096202?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=fIT8I34oP1zRQ3N%252BaVg0g%252BPSFI4%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  13. Fairly sure it's the only version. Richard Stoute is a Barbados singer and entertainer of some repute over there. It has been re-issued or booted, not sure which, quite recently. I regret turning down an original of this about 10 years ago.
  14. I love all the Caprells records. Love the production, the instrumentation and the vocals. Quite a unique sounding outfit.
  15. Trust and assurance that you've paid way, way over the top for very common record and that people think you're daft. Money well spent.
  16. Soul Funk-Tion is well worth a visit.
  17. Used to be a £150 tune a few years ago. I don't think it ever really took off though so who knows now?
  18. It's a relief that you've mastered the art of posting on internet forums though Dave.
  19. What a great read and video clip. So sad. Come on Stevie or Berry Gordy, you know what should be done here.
  20. Ha! was just thinking the same, they sound like the elderly women's bowls substitutes.
  21. My copy doesn't have any styrene noise, but it is styrene and I do worry that it might develop a bit of wear, so I try not to play it other than the odd DJ spot. What a great 45 though.
  22. I think it's the worst thing he's done. The song just doesn't work with that jazzy style and his voice doesn't suit it. Nice beat though.
  23. Haven't you seen their video to it Jason, it's a bit like the old Kwick Fit Fitter videos, all dancing around under car ramps with spanners and stuff.
