  1. It's a real toughie to get as it never (hardly) comes up for sale and it's a keeper. It's also in demand on different scenes including the sweet scene in the US. I was looking for it for a good while after I first heard Dave Thorley play it some years ago then my bro David got a copy and it became my no.1 want. I was lucky that a US guy posted up a copy on here. Luckily not too many people knew it then, so I got mine.
  2. Agree 100%, some lovely spinning in the video. Nice to see young 'uns in all the shots as well, it makes the fancy dress not look as bad as it suits their body shapes.
  3. I was thinking the same Kev, I've never heard that before but it's flippin' amazing.
  4. This was one of the first 12" that I ever bought, '76 I think, and I still have it on regular play at home. It just features the most amazing playing from the Philly guys on guitars, brass, strings etc, the dynamics within the music are fantastic, dropping down and building up, it's a real tour de force and It should be compulsory listening in any school or college doing music and blow the minds of these kids wanting to start a band. The mighty, mighty "Everybody have a good time".
  5. It was actually an ebay message that I sent him while the auction was running. I have emailed him on other occasions and always got a response.
  6. Yeah, Elevator for me too.
  7. This is my favourite. Part 2 of the 45 'Someone to talk to', utterly sublime bass groove. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP2Hyrixi1M
  8. I emailed Craig when the auction was on to ask him if it was the styrene orig or the vinyl boot but he never responded to me.
  9. Lovely record but it would have helped if you'd turned the TV off and throttled the budgie before recording the audio.
  10. Hi Nev, As I don't go out or DJ much any more I don't really know what's in or out of vogue, however they are both tunes that I personally love to dance to if I do hear them. They both go down (or did) a storm in Euro gigs and at the ones I went to I would say they were very well recieved on the dancefloor. I agree that they probably are a bit trickier to dance to if you want to slide around in a northern style.
  11. I would think about 2K+ each. I'm sure I heard the last Wanda was near 3K inc. trades.
  12. Always a favourite. Archie's best stuff was with Philly Int.
  13. Shouldn't this be in the Northern Soul fist thread?
  14. Mine should be arriving in today's post. What a brilliant 2 sider.
  15. I regret not buying it when I had the chance and it was a lot cheaper than now.
  16. Wouldn't the synths of the 60's have been used to make 'synth' type sounds rather than immitate string sections or brass sections? The kind of sounds such as the Beach Boys stuff used, or even Dr. Who etc, right up to the sweet soul analogue synths of the 70's. They all were instruments in their own right without imitating other instruments. I've listened to the audio clip and it's difficult to tell as the 'strings' are very low in the mix. I did think they sounded possibly like synth strings as they kind of wash in and out, but they also sound like great strings which might simply be made by proper string players rather than a synth. Listen to the strings on this record by the Ordells from around the same time, they're absolutely gorgeous and have a similar quality albeit they are much louder in the mix.
  17. Nice to see a Double O's Demingos up for sale. What a tune!!!
  18. This is a really good tune that sounds like it should be 100's of dollars. Fits in great with all the funky uptempo tunes being played at the moment.
  19. Is that off the CD/Lp? I've got a 12" promo (I think) of this track(silver sleeve) that is a much punchier mix.
  20. I had a few copies of the orig.12" from Neil rushton a few years ago J, it might be worth getting in touch with him as he imported these in back in the day, he may have a link for you to follow.
  21. Yes Ted, both sides really nice. Just the right side of 80's synth clatter sound effects and drum machines.
  22. Jordirip replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
I think you mean Fat Jack Band.
  23. Rocky gil was cheap and roger hatcher was steep...?
  24. Now that's how to film a live gig, pure excitement on stage and captured well by the film makers.
  25. Yes, just get a stanley knife and gouge out the grooves in the middle and stick it back together...that should do it shouldn't it?
