Harlem 69: The Future of Soul (The Soul Trilogy) - Stuart Cosgrove - Pre-Order
He's prolific isn't he? I'm just getting to the end of Memphis '68 which I've thoroughly enjoyed.

Charles Johnson never had a love
Ha ha. I'm sure it was. It would've been keeping with things 😀

Charles Johnson never had a love
Did that also get played at the Mecca? 😁

Unbelievable
That would be ridiculous, wouldn't it?

The Latin stuff that seems to be everywhere.
Didn't this get plays in the mid 80s?

Mtume / Lucas Picks
On a similar tip. I love the Stephanie Mills stuff 😀

Reggie Lucas RIP
So many great songs "in a kind of regal disco-adjacent R&B" style null. This one of my faves from Stephanie Mills

70s Northern Soul Mix
Some of my 70s northern soul favourites. Some of which I first heard as a 16 years old on Kent LPs and others I've only heard in the last 15 years or so.

Bobby Smith
It got reissued on Goldmine Soul Supply last decade so it hasn't been forgotten about for too long. Certainly not overplayed though. I like it.

Record Store Day ( Soul Stuff )
I didn't bother for those reasons

Rocket allnighter 2002
I went to the first one too - mainly for the modern room. Started off superbly by Steve Cole and it was buzzing until about 2am. Ian L then did a 90-120 minute slot sitting behind the decks playing his favourite stuff at the time. Unfortunately it killed the floor and didn't recover. I then spent the rest of the time in the northern room, which was good, but had also thinned out considerably by then.

Marvin/ not Marvin ??
It's pretty shocking. Why would they do that?

soul/R&B nights in San Francisco?
I'd be interested to know too. I've visited twice in the last 18 months and will be returning every now and then.

Poll: Cd Buying in 2018
I still buy CDs fairly often. The last two though weren’t the best. The James Hunter Six is mostly rubbish imo. I don’t mind the 60s retro sound but some of his is taking it too far back. I’m not a big jazz fan and I can only take it in limited doses. However I bought the Colin Curtis Jazz Dance Fusion 2CD because I have a great admiration for the man. Unfortunately, I soon got bored and couldn’t make it to the end in one hit.

Lamont Dozier Tour - Cancelled
I don't expect it will happen now. Rescheduled gigs seldom take place. It's purpose was to promote a new album and the momentum will be lost in Feb. Unless they bring out a box set of his solo stuff and he promotes that 😀. Unlikely. At least the promotor keeps the money for another 10 months 😬

Lamont Dozier Tour - Cancelled
All that fuss .........

Any cheap releases/version of Luther - Don't wanna be a fool
It wasn't a re-recording. It was a different song with the same title.

Homes under the hammer
Great choice. I'll give them that

Desert Island Stevie Wonder Song
I've played this a lot at home over the past 5 years or so. I never got into it originally. It could also be a good choice for the vocoder thread

Desert Island Stevie Wonder Song
I might have chosen For Once in my Life too. A song of great optimism. Instead I’ll go for Mon Cherie Armour which I still think of as a really happy love song. In terms of sad songs, they don’t get much sadder than Lately.
