Great LP Mickey. This is my favourite track from it.

Are you Serious is a great song Mickey. There's also a very good version of it by Vance Kelly which was done quite recently.

In London last night, there were four separate soul gigs going on – Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu and The Jacksons. That must be a record. I went to the Chaka gig but would’ve also loved to have gone to see Mavis or Erykah

I went to one of the Orpington dos as a 15 or 16 year old and remember hearing lots of stuff that was new to me at the time - Sidras Theme, Epitome of Sound, Benny Troy, The Majestics, Rose Batiste to name but a few. I even managed to get a tape with them all on it but no listing.

Never flipped it over before

Noel Gourdin – Patience Interesting choice. This track never really registered with me on the CD. Nice to see a new artist getting played.

I doubt it. I don't think any of the Ecko stuff comes out on vinyl.

Brilliant record. Is it hard to find now? I see there's loads of the original LP around for reasonable prices. Ignore all the other tracks though.

It's a fantastic book. There's a film about the Detroit riots in 1967 coming out later this year. I have no idea if it's coincidence or is an adaption of the main thread of the book - The Algiers Motel Incident..

Anyone who wants to buy music recorded in the CD era and put it onto a record needs their head examined imo 😀

At the Soul Bag do in London on Saturday, I heard loads of brilliant records including: Sebastian Williams – Get Your Point Over Greg Henderson – Dreaming Arnold Blair – Finally Made It Home Ivan Neville – Dance Your Blues Away Luther Vandross – Sugar and Spice And a great live performance from The New Jersey Connection.

Loads and loads. Not all necessarily serious collectors but record buyers none the less.
