I went to one of the Orpington dos as a 15 or 16 year old and remember hearing lots of stuff that was new to me at the time - Sidras Theme, Epitome of Sound, Benny Troy, The Majestics, Rose Batiste to name but a few. I even managed to get a tape with them all on it but no listing.

Arthur K Adams 'Let Me Love You Tonight'
It's Dave Dixon, Steve. I only had the pleasure of going to The Orwell once and I don't remember it from that night (nor much else)

Richard Stepp 'caught up in a whirlwind ' NOW SORTED
Brilliant record. Is it hard to find now? I see there's loads of the original LP around for reasonable prices. Ignore all the other tracks though.

Detroit 67 - £3 in "the works"
It's a fantastic book. There's a film about the Detroit riots in 1967 coming out later this year. I have no idea if it's coincidence or is an adaption of the main thread of the book - The Algiers Motel Incident..

Why Geoff? You can get the CD dead cheap with some great tracks from Angie Stone, Donnell Jones and Alicia Keys thrown in too. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shaft-Ost-Original-Soundtrack/dp/B00004TDXT/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1496130674&sr=1-3&keywords=shaft+soundtrack

Yes Mickey. It's the 3rd monthly event as it's a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Especially when it's so close to home

Quite. Aside from the fact you could play Porgy & The Monarchs too I'm sure the 45 came out a few months after the LP.

The first King's Hall all-nighter was Feb 97, as far as I can recall.
