  1. Not too sure of your dates, but these would be my suggestions. Greatstone (Manchester) on 4 August. I've never personally been, but if my mate (up north) Brett recommends it then that's good enough for me. 6T's Allnighter at Jacks (London) on 18 August. Ady C and the crew doing their thing nothing else to add really.
  2. I was sitting down at the computer this morning before work. I looked up at the top of my computer desk and saw the back cover, thought it was issue 2. Anyway I picked it up to put it away and realised it was issue 3. Thought to myself "that's funny don't remember that being delivered?" Had another look, big chunk missing from the back cover. Said to the wife "What happened to this" She replied "the dog did it!" Fking dog! Haven't had chance to read it yet, but that Pied Piper article does look interesting.

Hopefully none of them are seriously injured and I wish them a speedy recovery. This reminds me of the sketch in Only Fools And Horses where Trigger gets a medal for having the same broom for 21 years. When asked how it's managed to last so long, he replies " it's had 15 new handles and 12 new heads (this may not be accurate but, you'll get the gist)" Sid the cafe owner, says "How the hell can it be the same broom?" Bit like The Drifters with no original members, "How the hell can they be The Drifters?"

Ben E King - What Can A Man Do - Atco, excellent tune bought this off a list on here for the princely sum of £13! Its also available on the Kent CD, Still Paying Our Dues, with a load of other Atco/Atlantic stuff.

Why do some listings state something along the lines of "If no payment received a Non -Paying bidder thing will be lodged with Ebay". Is there a Non Selling Ebayer thing you could lodge with Ebay?

Buy this, you won't get much better for a tenner! This was recommended to me when I first joined this forum almost 3 years ago. I've noticed that Mr Rimmer has played it out a couple of times recently and you all know he doesn't play any old tosh. https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/sounds/exists...mp;title=TRY_ME

You could always donate them to charity, next time there's an earthquake or flood somewhere, a small village could rehouse in those trousers.

How about wearing jeans (with beer towel sown on leg) tucked into DM's and sheepskin coat, very fetching?
  9. Colin, what about Voices of East Harlem Cashing In?
  10. What about when 18 months ago Mick Smith played Ain't No Mountain by Marvin & Tammi at the 100 Club 25th anniversary? The dance floor went mad for it, then price shot up due to demand and everyone seemed to be playing it. If it had been anyone else playing it out at any other venue, they'd more than likely had been slated for it. So why does it seem acceptable for some DJ's to play these tunes and not others? I personally don't have a problem if a record has crossed over into the mainstream, if I like it I buy it (depending on cost of course). Prime example of tune that fits that bill, or vice versa depends on how you look at it, is David Ruffins, Walk Away From Love.
  11. The one i posted in my gallery takes some beating: /index.p...i&img=10702
  12. It will only amount to £1,000,000 if they sell all copies at £10 each, but you don't mention how much it costs to have these records made up (plus sleeves), so surely the sum would be a lot less than £1,000,000? Please Note: The Following is all hypothetical, I'm just trying to play Devil's Advocate. Can someone give me advice on what they recommend me to do with regards the following. I would like a copy of the Isley Brothers - Your Love Is My Love on 7" vinyl incase I ever wanted to play it out. Now I have it on the MFP LP that it was originally released, which I paid a quid for at some car boot sale (of that £1 I don't believe The Isley Bros will see anything), but I don't want to cart LP's about. I also have it on the Tamla Motown Connoisseurs CD, which I paid about a fiver for in some shop (how much of that would The Isley Bros see?), but we are continually told that this scene is based on vinyl not CD's. So do I pay £25 to have vinylcarvers do me a 7" of it or just buy a boot for a fiver off ebay? By my reckoning and from what I've previously read it's seems OK to pay £25 to have LP and CD tracks (that I own) put on 7" and played out, but not to buy and play out a £5 boot of the same track. Why would I want to pay an extra £20, when I know full well the original artists would not see a penny of either the £25 let alone the fiver! Finished the Advocaat now. The problem is there are counterfeit goods (for want of a better word) everywhere, records, clothes, computer software, dvd's, the list is endless. You'll never be able to stop it, you can only choose whether you buy them or not. At the end of the day you are only responsible for your own actions.
  13. I'll Be On My Way - bob & fred - big mack 15067 refosoul Top tune normally spun by that birthday boy Martin Thomson.

It was released in 1998 on label called Clubmasters, remember it was advertised at the time in some magazine (think it was Echoes), also had a companion CD of which was modern/funk stuff I think (probably wrong my memory is shot to pieces). There are 10 tracks on each CD. I've copied the tracklisting from an Ebay listing where it went for just £4.20, bargain (John Manship had it listed for £30 a couple of years back)! Track listing1. That's Why I Love You - Professionals 2. Savin' My Lovin' For You - People's Choice 3. Heart Trouble - Parliaments 4. Love Is The Only Solution - Starr, Martha 5. Hey Girl You've Changed - Vondells 6. Can't We Talk It Over - Allen, L. 7. Tough Girl - Arnell, Billy 8. Sleepless Nights - Paris 9. Try My Love - Dodds, Troy 10. Sweet And Lovely - Del-Tours 11. Somebody New - Moore, Danny 12. Make A Change - Rogers, Johnny 13. Silent Treatment - Deamain, Arin 14. I'm Still Yours - Summers, Johnny 15. Where Can My Baby Be - Martells 16. Ain't Gonna Cry No More - Charles, David 17. Don't Forget To Remember - Greater Experience 18. I Lost You - Hollidays 19. I Must Love You - Davis, Melvin 20. You're Welcome - Jackson, June 21. What about the After Hours CD's full of Warner Bros, Loma & Atlantic stuff. If you can get hold of a copy of Dave Flynn's, Sought After Soul 4CD box set, I'd recommend it.

You beat me to it and I stand corrected on the name.

I had a Kent tape that came free with NME (or some other music mag, memory not what it was), about the same time as a free punk tape. The names I think were Kent A Gogo & Punk A Gogo, again not too sure was back in the 80's. I remember the kent tape had Marvelows, Your Little Sister, on it. Lent the tapes to a mate never to see them again , ever since I won't lend any record to anybody.
  18. IMO, No.
  19. Two scenes? I have enough trouble attending do's on just the one scene! I don't think there are two scenes, there are just some events that you either enjoy or you don't, it's as simple as that. The thing that I find repetative is the amount of posts about two scenes and oldies and upfront. I find that it's these posts that lead to divides within this scene. Funny how these different scenes come together at places like the Prestatyn weekender, everyone who attends enjoys themselves whether listening to the upfront stuff or the played out oldies, or perhaps the weekender crowds are a third scene? I cannot get out as often as I'd like, when I do I don't travel too far, that is my choice. I attend both Bisley & Solid Hit Soul whenever I possibly can, now these two events are like chalk & cheese, but that is not to say that I can't enjoy myself at either event. Can we just stop creating divides that don't exist, well not in my opinion anyway.
  20. Instead of charging high postage, just have higher starting price.

That works out at about £36 per single, which isn't too bad when some of them go for a lot more (Junior McCants, San Franciscan TKO's to name just two). Also some of them hardly ever come up for sale, any duplicates you may get could always 'sell em on(to me for a fiver each).
  22. Reading that clip, should be enough to deter people from buying the book. It has me.
  23. I've just bought a copy of Jimmy Delphs Almost on Carla, I already have the Karen copy, but I was just wondering which was released first. The Carla or Karen issue? Then again was it Betty Lavette's version first? One other thing whilst ordering this, I bought Jimmy Delphs - Feels Like Summers Coming On (Karen), blind. I figured it was worth a fiver with the names Wylie/Hestor on the label to buy it as well and save on combined postage, so if anyone has a soundclip it would be appreciated, thanks.
  24. BBC just seem to go over the same old ground. Mind you saying that it's just like some of the topics on here, oldies v newies, original v boots, etc.,
