HI ALL.... ASK MICK SMITH??? OK! TED I agree with you as this record fools the best of them, and MICK is one of the few copy's about, not sure if it is my old one sold in 1978, however you could ask me? but then again, forget about everything with exception to the paper grain as thats the best way to tell, however if you leave a wet cloth on the boot you can make the label grainy and Matt, if this is the case con-pair with a real one,,, Ask Mick Smith and take a butchers at mi**His Copy I have just looked at the copy, it is not a boot as the artwork is far to fine, However It looks differant to my copy from the 7ts also is there a copy with white in the eyes and beneeth the lines on each bee???or is that the other boot???? DAVE KIL...WISHING ALL MY READERS A HAPPY YULE XX,,,, And a Happy New Year (The Editor)
  7. i personally never owened iy, however I remember him singing over the record at the HARDROCK TORCH is BACK ALLNIGHTERALLDAYER THING put on by CHRIS BURTON 1974 DAVE
  8. HI ALL,,,YES ME FOR ONE, DON'T GET ME WRONG! IF PEOPLE WANT TO OWN REPRESS OR REPRESSED RECORDS IT IS DOWN TO THEM, MY POINT IS JUST, THERE WAS A TIME NO ONE DJ WITH BOOTLEGS EMI DISC'S AND SO ON, THATS WHY THEY WERE DJing,IT WOULD BE SHAME IF YOU PLAYED A RECORD THAT WAS DODGY, AS THE NEXT DJ MIGHT HAVE WANTED TO PLAY THE ORIGINAL (this is what the rare soul scene is about< being elite) THE SAME GOES TO ANNIVERSARY BADGES!? ANY WAY HERE ARE 4 ORIGINAL BADGES THAT ARE UNIQUE TO ME, EXCEPT THE WIGAN 4th MINT WITH EXTRA CLOTH TRIMMED UP THE NEXT DAY, THE BLACK MAGIC BADGE IS HARD AS IT WAS GIVEN TO PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED THE DEMOS PRICELESS AS I DID FROM SELECTA DISC, THE ISC MADE ONE BUT SMALLER AVAILABLE TO BUY. THE EASC WAS JUST BLACK & WHITE, TILL I TARTED IT UP, I AM SURE THIS IS THERE 1ST BADGE, THE OKeh BADGE I SENT OF FOR WHEN IT WAS ADVERTISED IN BLUES AND SOUL (Pete Fell) AS I HAD HARDLY HEIRED ABOUT THE TOWN, I UNSTICHED IT. THE NEAREST I GOT TO THE PLACE WAS THE CAT'S WHISKERS IN BURNLY? DON'T T YOU NO T, SORRY THIS DON'T HELP YOU GET THE WIGAN 3rd BUT BY THEN BADGES WERE STUCK DOWN ON ADDIDS BAGS OR STITCHED ONTO BOWLING SHIRTS VESTS & BADGE DAVE
  9. Hi All....My 3rd & 4th aniversary badges also came untrimmed so I thought until I saw yours, mine were at least had a rough circle 3/8" out, iI will dig them out to show you. if mine was like yours I dont think I would have trimmed it at all, as they say on the Antiques Roadshow, you have a perfict example of a real 1st issue, what I would like to know is? why do I read about poeple who gave the badges away? I can understand how things get lost mislade stolen, thrown away by your mum, but given away??? and also why would want to ware an aniversary badge if they did not attend? iI am excluding memoribila colectors, i'm talking about the repro aniversary badges, unless you have lost your real one or dont want to damage it, but want a symbolic badge for your Addidas Bag? why or what would you want it for, it,s like buying bootlegs theres no point to it, buy a CD or collect records as it's money down the drain. Don't you think DAVE K (no spell check)
  10. HI ALL ...DJ PEP WHEN PLAYING:-GENE CHANDLER...THIS IS FOR THE BIG BOYS1 "i can take care of myself" DAVE K
  11. HI ALL...THE RAREST UK TAMLA MOTOWN LP's HAS TO BE THE ONE's THAT WERE NOT ISSUED TO THE PUBLIC OR NOT FOR SALE & PROMOTIONAL RECORDINGS, SIMPLY THE QUESTION DOES NOT MEAN RARE IS BEST ON THIS LABEL, AS THIS EXAMPLE WOULD SHOW 2 HARD TO FIND LP's ARE GREETINGS FROM THE MONITORS v Dr MARTIN LUTHOR KING WHICH IS MORE RARER OR WHAT IS THE BEST, THE MARTIN LUTHER IS THE RAREST TECH SPEAKING AND THE MONITORS DEFANANTLY SOLD MORE ON RELEASE, BUT IS RARE BECAUSE IT's GOT GREAT MUSIC ON IT. SO T THERE SHOULD BE 2 LISTS OF RARE LP'S CONPLETEST V MUST OWNS, JUST AS IN THE 45's IN THE 53O'S NUMBERS WOULD YOU WANT THE BILLY ECKSTINE OR PAY GOOD MONEY FOR IT, MAYBE! I WOULD SELL IT EVERY TIME, AND BUY A RECORD THAT I WANTED, (I AM NOT A STAMP COLLECTOR) THE SAME RULE I APLY TO MY UK SOUL 45's MANY PEOPLE HAVE UK STUFF THAT I CLASS AS CRAP. IF IT,S NOT A DANCER IT's NOT NORTHERN. THE RAREST LP I HAVE IS A BBC TRANSCRIPTION DISC, IT's A VARIOUS ARTIST LP, I CANT DO A SCAN TODAY WILL ADD IT LATER, BUT IT's BEEN UP ON ANOUTHER TREAD FROM MYSELF? IT'S A DIRECT METAL MASTERING DMM BBC RADIOPLAY MUSIC RPM, #TAIR 88003 A/B TITLE:- MOTOWN SINGS THE HITS. LP 33 STERO TRACKS ARE AS FOLLOWS:- TRACK # ARTIST TITLE A SIDE #1 THE FOUR TOPS IF I WERE A CARPENTER 2'45" #2 THE FOUR TOPS IT'S ALL IN THE GAME 2'45" #3 THE FOUR TOPS MACARTHER PARK 6'29" #4 THE FOUR TOPS LITTLE GREEN APLES 3'51" #5 DIANA ROSS BLUE MOON 3'46" #6 GLADY'S KNIGHT & THE PIP'S THE LOOK OF LOVE 3'56" B SIDE #1 STEVIE WONDR SUNNY 3'59" #2 STEVIE WONDER WE CAN WORK IT OUT 3'12" #3 jr WALKER PROUD MARY 3'13" #4 JIMMY RUFFIN BLACK IS BLACK 3'24" #5 THE SUPREMES WONDERFUL WORLD 2'43" #6 THE SUPREMES WORLD WITHOUT LOVE 2'43" #7 SHORTY LONG I'M WALKIN 2'19" ALL TRACKS ARE IN THE BEST SOUND QUALITY, FAR ABOVE A GOOD QUALITY LP, ALL TRACKS UNRELEASED, ALL FROM THE ORIGANAL SESSION. THE LP IS MINT - AS I PLAYED IT THROUGH ON MY TECHNICS SL1210 MK2 DECK SHURE CARTRIDGE, JOHN MANSHIP SOLD ONE 2 MONTHS AGO? AND GOT A GOOD PRICE FOR HIS COPY, I DON'T NO HOW MANY BBC TRANSCIPTION DISCS THERE ARE, HOWEVER THERE IS A MARVIN GAYE LP & STEVIE WONDER LP FROM THE SAME PERIOD, THERE GOTTA BE AT LEAST 10 POST 67. DAVE
  12. HI ALL ..PETE how did i forget them to, for those of you that don't know Roy & Roger they are not just collectors they just no the lot and i mean the history. writers producers labels every thing, they are also very kind people, to start with Roger who i relay got to no only a few years back, through john and Malcolm's shop in Wilinhall at the regular Saturday morning meet, which was the nearest that we have got to a real soul collectors club ever, as any one who went will testify, Roger had a Passion around more modern soul and deep soul. he was foreword thinking and a bit like KEB way ahead of the game most of his huge collection did not cost more than a £1 each , i remember he was talking one day about the JAY BOY SIMG: by ERNIE & ED the passion of the discussion, led me to give him a copy the following week he said that he could not afford it, i said it,s a present i don't want money, he was bowled over and remembered that the biving was just as soulful as the record, Pete I did this with you sort off once, great bloke. Roy the man who does not do all nighters and never attends events, has the most extensive UK soul Collection in the UK apart from Mick Smiths again if you come to wolves record fair he is always there and along with Pete Mick and other UK soul collectors including myself, at that moment of time you have a group of people who know every thing there is to know about the UK collecting scene, it's a must meet venue your input is always welcome and you can speak to Roy. You are so right PETE how did I leave them out DAVE
  13. SMOKEY HAS ALL THE ATTRIBUTES GOING FOR HIM. IN THE MID TO LATE 6TS HE WOULD MOST CERTAINLY WOULD OF BEEN IN TOUGH CREW, SIMILAR TO STEPHNEY MILE END OR BETHNAL GREEN, YOUR EYES NEVER MET WHEN THESE GANGS WERE ABOUT, BUT I THINK HE WOULD HAVE BEEN INVITED INTO THE FIRM (UNDERWORLD) AS HE CAN APPLY HIS MIND WITH GOOD KNOWLEDGE AND WILL ALWAYS MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION TO BENEFIT OTHERS, IN A SITUATION YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK ABOUT TO SEE WHO IS THERE, HE IS TOTALLY RELIABLE MAN, AND CROSS HIM AT YOUR PERIL, HE IS A LAUGH, AND WOULD NEVER GRASS, HE LIKE A KNUCKLE ALONG WITH THE EXCITEMENT THAT STREET FIGHTING BRINGS, IF I AM IN A PUB AND A GLASS SMASHES I AM LIKE A MAGNET TO SEE WHO GOT THE BIG WHOOSH! OTHER PEOP[LE WOULD LEG IT, IN THE 8TS I WAS USING SO MUCH I WOULD GO FOR 10 DAYS AT A TIME LEAPING, SO IN 1 MONTH IT CONSISTED OF 3 DTHEDRUG DAYS, ALONG WITH PSYCHOSIS AN SLEE DEPRIVATION IT WAS TOTAL MADNESS. IN FACT I WAS MAD, THE ONLY PERSON I KNOW WHO WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP ME WAS STAVE, I RUNG HIM 1 NIGHT HE WAS IN WARRINGTON, I SAID TO HIM THAT IF YOU DON'T COME AND KNOCK ME OUT (FISTS) I WOULD KILL SOMEONE, HE CAME DOWN STRAIGHT AWAY, AND IN PRISONED ME WITH JULIAN ALSO BEING A GUARD, UNTIL I GOT BETTER, THE MAN IS A DIAMOND FOR DOING THAT, AT THE TIME NOBODY WOULD OF VONE THAT, HE IS PROPER NORTHERN SOUL MAN FROM WOLVES, IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE AND DON'T NO HIM GO OVER AND HAVE A TALCUM HIS HANDS ARE HUGE, THE MAN SAVED MY LIFE DAVE KIL

HI ALL ..PETE....YES I HAD A LOOK AT IT AFTER 37 YEARS, TODAY AT WOLVES RECORD FAIR, I CAN CONFIRM THAT THIS IS THE COPY THAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, THAT I PICKED UP IN LEEDS 74, AND QUITE CLEARLY IT IS NOT A UK COPY, BUT IT'S NOT A DUTCH COPY EITHER, ...BUT AS MICK TOLD ME TODAY HE HAS NOT SEEN ANOTHER ONE LIKE THE ONE HE SHOWED YOU, AND I CANT IMAGINE MICK KEEPING THAT COPY FOR 37 YEARS IN HIS COLLECTION IF THERE WAS A RARER ONE TO REPLACE IT? AND HE KNOWS HIS RECORDS? WHAT I AM PUZZLED OVER IS WHERE DID I GET THE COPY THAT LOOKS LIKE THE ONE ON THIS THREAD, BUT WITH CENTER AND PROPER NAME, MORE TO THE POINT WHO DID I SELL IT TO???DID IT GET AN IRISH PRESS I WONDER? 25. HI ALL.....Do I ever get the words right..??? no never even if I had a lyric sheet with a bouncing ball on top of the word! I would get it wrong, if I wrote a song I most defo would forget the words, I was once famously was heired singing the lyric CO CO POPS to Elton Johns Cold Cold Heart, by all the kids of the Scotland ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND, In WOLVES, When I was their youth leader, and I was being 100% serious, So the next time it's played on the FM sing my lyric to it, As I say I have never been able to sing a full song, except for the SCHOOL fav "Donkey Riding" HAY HO AWAY WE GO! DONKEY RIDDING DONKEY RIDING>>>RIDING ON ME DONKEY:ph34r: EE HAW EE HAW allways calls me "Donkey.".I nearly wrote DON KING:boxing: put em up KilworthD.
