Probably a daft question but why do a lot of funk tunes reference a "Jody " in the vocals , is this refering to someone or a slang name for someone ? , seems to have heard quiet a few with it in for it to be a coincidance

The trouble is that i am used to record collector grading / values where vg is valued at 50 % of mint , ex 75 % of mint , if a seller uses vg as his 2nd grade it doesnt always register as i dont go through every sellers listing to see the grade ruling they use. If i see a £50 book priced 45 for sale in vg i automatically think that the guide price for this is £25 , therefore i am not paying top guide price for a 45 in lower condition even if it using a different system

Didnt someone run a lead from the decks and record a big name dj's set( unknown to the dj) then go on to offer acetates of the rare/unreleased tunes a while back

You could buy 5 copies for less than the auction value and hope one is ok and still be better off

I sold everything I had over £50 except for 2 tunes ray pollard soul mate and dennis robinson and the original tams wings for my baby. I now collect cheapies and labels such as rictic duke curtom etc where a lot can be picked up for a tenner or less , buy a soul pack here and there ,the odd album and cd. Just because the records i buy dont cost a lot it doesnt mean they are not very good , Just they are unknown or very common. The music will always be available on legit cd , cdr , mp3, youtube etc. John powney and des parker both regulaly list stuff for sale that is no more than about £20 and i know if john lists something for £30 i could get more the next day selling it on if i needed to. The desire for unknown music is the thing i like , not knowing what i am going to hear till the stylus hits the record as others wont play it as its too cheap

Don't all dj's have a mate who carries their lp play box anyway who gets in for nowt ? ;) Spend £70 on one of those record bags on wheels , can get the lps in and a box of 7"s

people should use their own common sence with guide prices take off about 40/ 50 % as most records on the scene are only vg+ and the price is for mint records take off the 20% vat there you have the proper value why is it that records on the northern scene only tend to have a small % off of the guide price for being vg+ and not the suggested 50% in price guides like record collectors?

I have seen these on Ebay.com , they are a collection of cds featuring duke and peacock tracks on cd , just wondering if they are legit and good sound quality as they cost quiet a lot with shipping and i cant find then available in the uk. I have started to collect the labels and have about 40 45's on it but want to hear ones i cant afford or find , If not are there any uk releases for these labels thanks in advance

How hard is it to list both sides of the records? , it just means you have to type a few extra words in the listing which may help the sale if someone searches for the other song on the site

Do try and sell them in small soul packs with a mixture of other things in them. I tend to buy this way as it gives me cheap records and also things i wouldnt have checked out myself
